Has katrina got the money to get us to next level?
doddisalegend replied to Roger's topic in The Saints
You're defiantly the voice of reason on here at the moment agree totally. Some people bought into NCs spin without stopping to think about just how bloody difficult going beyond our current level would be. If we don't somehow push further on people will blame KL, totally missing the point that her families money got us this far. A few years ago, after we went into administration, people wanted a well run and financially stable club now we have people squealing about spending lots of money to push for the CL and show some ambition. Personally I settle for a well run, mid table side, bring through good academy players and going all out for the cups each year.....rather than blaming KL for not being prepared to bankrupt herself aiming for the CL. -
This is spot on. All this NC was taking us to the champions league crap drives me crazy so many people fell for the hype. People seem to have forgotten our past pretty quickly gone is the desire for a well run finically stable club to be replaced by constant demands to spend a s hit load to compete with the likes of Man city or the manager and all the players will leave and it will all be KLs fault for not wanting to blow her personally fortune on the champions league.

Now Gary Monk is full time Swansea boss talk on the Swansea forums is that Nathan Dyer is unwanted/not rated by Monk. Would Nathan be worth bringing back to saints? Might cost more than the 400K Swansea paid for him could he play a similar role to J-rod certainly add some pace to the side.

yeah but not with their mates Mrs **** like that isn't exactly good in a team sport.....
-
Don't see what the owners can do about it, other than make sure we get as much cash a possible, If a player is determined to leave.
-
Maybe the sort of money required to go further just isn't there and as the UEFA Financial Fair Play Regulations kick in our chances of challenging the top sides are even less. I see no reason why the owner would have no ambition for the club but the hard truth is we really can't compete with those above us. The meteoric rise of the club the last few years was quite frankly easy (and comparatively cheap) compared to the next level.

Well I bet he'd think twice about racially abusing Victor..........Plus who needs all the **** in the dressing room when he starts ****ing Fonte's wife.
-
I don't know I can barely afford to watch the saints A team these days so if the tickets were pitched at £5-10 I'd probably follow the B team instead that way I get to support saints at a price I can afford and get to enjoy that lower league vibe that I quite enjoy. Would be totally **** for division two teams though.

Well at 23 PL goals you'd have to take a 2003 James Beattie in the current squad right now. -
Guly pretty much confirms he is leaving Saints this summer

Don't think so, Reading are pretty much penniless since that Russian bloke pulled out of buying the club properly, Nigel did a decent job considering and next year buy all accounts the squad is going to be made up of frees and academy players so I doubt they'll get a better manager in the circumstances. -

From what I can gather Reading will be off loading quite a few players due to their finances being shot after the failed takeover so Guly for free to link up with Nigel again wouldn't seem a bad idea for them. -

I always liked him thought he did his best but the PL was a step to fair never deserved the abuse he got. I'm surprised no championship clubs took a punt on him. I imagine he'll head back home to finish his career. Cheers Guly -

My favourite Guly goal was against Blackpool in the cup (was a good day all-round that one) -
Well it would certainly be nice to see Osvaldo actually make some effort...............
-
One wonder goal aside he was pretty average I thought the team looked far worse with him playing in it. For all the stick SRL gets around here he still brings so much more to the team than Osvaldo. What we need is a pacey striker to help cover J-rod and I don't think Osvaldo is that. I reckon we should cut our loses and put whatever money we can get for him into a decent replacement for J-rod.
-
There is an element of that I'm sure but other teams can beat them so maybe we just need another plan when we play these teams?
-
The teams that we really seemed to have struggled against this season have been Sunderland (couldn't beat them in 4 attempts) West ham and Stoke never seemed to play our best against any of them.

I'm going to agree with Pap. This thread has got to seven pages because people can't just ignore those they find irritating. It takes two to have these little internet spats and quite a few of you are as guilty as the supposed trolls of de-railing threads and causing the spats (not that you'll every admit it). I frequent a few forums on the net and they're all the same, some posters are IMO good some are IMO cocks, and all of them have threads complaining that the forum has been ruined by someone who holds a different opinion to themselves.

Doesn't matter if I rate him it matters if the manager of which ever big club he goes to rates him Juan Mata at Chelsea or Adebayor at spurs comes to mind. Basically my point is some times it's better the devil you know. Adam could leave and be a massive success (which wouldn't surprise me one bit) but it is a risk moving club that might not work out well..............so I'm hoping Adams not a big risk taker. -

hmmm I'm not so sure I could be a big fish in little pond (be captain, first name on the team sheet and arguably the best player in the team) or move to a bigger pond and risk not being first choice expect for league cup games. -
He is a fantastic player. The only thing I find strange is this constant myth that he is underrated or some sort of unsung hero when he gets praised up to the hilt on here (and rightly so) every week." Never gets the credit he deserves" ermm....yes he does (at least among saints fans).

on the BBC Late Kick Off show Former Southampton midfielder Matt Oakley tells BBC Late Kick Off South, South West, West that he expects manager Mauricio Pochettino to leave the club if Tottenham come calling. But Oakley believes the club may be able to keep hold of captain and midfielder Adam Lallana, who has been tipped to leave St Mary's. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27205266 Its going to be a long summer of speculation...

doddisalegend replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Shout out for Lambert thought he was superb yesterday. Report in the paper to day picked him out as the star man also mentioned he covered 7.2 miles in yesterdays match only bettered by my MotM Jack cork who covered 8 miles apparently. -
Very true still surprised he beat Baines though.

So this the first 11 we should be aiming to field next season if we want to show some intent.... Seriously though well deserved...well done lads.
