  1. I'm of the opinion football teams should try and win every competition they are in I want saints to win stuff be it cups or leagues. We constantly go on about making Southampoton a big club well big clubs manage to compete in both cups and leagues how many times have the likes of Man U or Arsenal done the double (or even triple) thats what we should be aiming for, being winners no matter what the competition success breeds success. As far as I'm concerened in shouldn't be an a one or the other situation we should be out to win everything. The idea we should try and get ourselves knocked out becuase "we won't win it" doesn't sit well with me.
  2. What and risk that the players might be left feeling a bit tired............
  3. Despite being stuck in some wierd 1890s mind set about the glory of the British empire and the scramble for Africa, you're out of luck old chap France aren't interested, the UN aren't going to intervene either it looks like Africa will sort the problem out it's self via Ecowas http://ecowas.int/ I'm interested why you think the Marxists (you do know russia isn't communist anymore?) well gain from this though? A president who is no longer legally president after a general election refuses to leave power and the legally elected president wants to take over where is the gain? Good over view of the situation here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-12132835
  4. So if you think you can't win something don't bother trying?
  5. Might be nice for those who've paid to watch a match see some actual first teamers though, at this rate we will being seeing the groundsman and cleaners from the two clubs playing against each other. There was a time when football clubs tried to entertain the paying supporters who came to watch them by playing their best teams.
  6. Maybe it's all down to Kenny Jacket maybe we could send him Pulis on loan, 6 weeks at Millwall and Pulis will come back as a free scoring box to box midfielder worth 2.5 million.........................
  7. Best case for us is surely that Puncheon comes back with his head right and those new shooting boots he got at Millwall and gets stuck into ripping this league apart. I haven't been one of Puncheons biggest fans but he has shown while out on loan that he can play very well surely we want him playing for us?
  8. God it looks like both sides will be trying to lose this game, to think there was time when the FA cup meant something. I wonder if we will see a strangley high number of own goals for this one?
  9. That begs the question why are we incapable of getting the best out of certain players? Maybe the fanbase have something to do with it, Puncheon seems like a new player now he is away from the SMS boo boys, Fuller was another that was never given much of a chance by the fans.
  10. I'm not so sure. Personally I loved it but reading around on here JPT cost us promotion and winning it was embarrasing according to some(even though they still went).
  11. On the other hand we might be in the PL right now. Now theres a question. I wonder if people would rather be in the PL today with lowe in charge or in league 1 with the current set up?
  12. I think you're missing the point calling Newcastle an odd club for doing just the same as saints is........... well odd. No one said Nigel isn't doing a good job, just that both saints and Newcastle sacked managers after good results. No doubt the Newcastle senior management thought they were doing the right thing just as saints did, for all we know Houghton could have been sacked for touching up Joey Barton in the showers after trainning. More to the point this thread highlights just how many players (and managers) seem to go onto better things after leaving us. It's amazing how many ex players that fans said were s hit seem to be plying their trade higher up in the footballing world. Maybe that mean us fans really don't have a ****ing clue...........
  13. Looking at the Blackpool build up thread on the main board there are a few people hoping we get knocked out. This seems to be a running theme in all cup competitions now not just among saints fans but fans at many clubs. Quite a few managers too seem to see cup competitons as a distraction to the important business of winning the league/avoiding relegation/ mid table safety (depending on club) for another season. With leagues so important money wise, and the dream of reaching the sacred cash cow of the PL seen as the only goal worthy of a football club. Is it time that English football just gets rid of cup competions? Discuss
  14. yes, only odd clubs sack the manager after thrashing a league rival.................
  15. Holloway has already said staying in the PL is the most important thing this season. I would expect to see as many reserve players as he can get away with at SMS.
  16. Good point. I still find it amazing that he has scored 13 goals in 17 league matches or that he could end up in the PL though.
  17. I see the rumours on 606 are that Blackpool are about to buy BWP for 500k from Plymouth, we could end up facing Euell,BWP and Brett next week which would be a bit wierd (even more so as they would be PL players:scared:)
  18. I watched him with interest at the Exeter match becuase people on here kept putting his name forward. To be honest I wasn't overly impressed, couple of nice touches but nothing to suggest he was better than players we already have. I think we may need another CM though becuase I get the feeling Morgan doesn't want to be here any more.
  19. Of course they might both end up playing if Lallana moves onHarding at LB and Dickson at LW.
  20. Hardly Dicksons finest hour either though he was very poor as I recall.
  21. Agree, would of thought a pacy right winger who could play up front if needed to take the pressure of OXO is more of a need at the moment (wonder where we could get one of those?)
  22. 2 seasons can be a long time in football, it would be a brave player to turn down PL football now for a chance of PL in two seasons time.
  23. so who would we drop? Lamberts coming back to form, Guly's starting to find the net regularly and Barnard won't be happy sitting on the bench all the time.
  24. Does he wan't to be a fourth option though?
  25. Much as I hate to say it I can't see Adam staying with us much longer, he is way to good for the level the is playing at . I wouldn't blame him if he moved to the PL.
