  1. Mark Hughes has achieved exactly squat as a manager not one trophy, no promotions not even an FA cup final. All things AP has achieved. While there are better managers than AP Hughes is not one of them. Hughes record - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Hughes Pardews record - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Pardew Taking into account its wiki AP has a greater % of wins then Hughes says it all for me.

Based on what? How many promotions/trophies has Hughes won?
  3. For sure, I would be right royally ****ed off if we lost AP best manager we have had in years.

Thats the crux though whose better? We can't really say if anyone else would have done any better this season and we will never be in that postion again (I hope) to test that theroy. All those managers currently unemployed are that for a reason. Unless we're going to buy Wenger or Moyes out of their contracts whose avaliable whose better Hughes record is probably little better than APs who else is avaliable Coleman, Ince a whole load of other pretty average managers.

Sadly you'll never now if the next one can score twenty goals either just becuase he did it at his last club, he may come to your club and score one in which case you where better off keeping the two goals a season man.

Not if he manages here anything like he played when he was with us.
  8. Que 50 posters all claiming to be one of the nine:smt043
  9. Well APs post match interview didn't sound like someone who was being given the heve-ho he was already talking about next pre-season. Honest to god I can't wait for the new season to start and the transfer window to close. I don't think I can take a whole summer of rumuours about people leaving, being ****ed off with progress etc etc.
  10. Looking at the results even if all the other players pool their results they still can't form a coilation player of the season. So it's a clear win for prime minister Lambert:D Electrol reform for next years player of the season poll to give every one else a chance I think;)
  11. Better get used to a summer of this. We've put Lambert well and truly on the radar this year. League one player of the year, in the players league one team of the year, saints player of the year, a 1million pound fee, league ones top scorer and playing for a big club () like Southampton has made sure his name is well known now. As for Puncheon not so bothered he frustrates the hell out of me.
  12. Money we didn't give him the sort of budget he needs to buy succsess, that and the feeling he was never comfortable at Saints and really didn't want to be here.
  13. The JPT final was great all though as a match it was rather one sided so lost a bit of exciment if that makes sense. Loved watching AP picking up and waving the saints flag at the end. Cracking day all in all hope I don't have to wait another 34 years for another one like it. Personally for me it's MK Dons away in the league (a bit left field I know) but it was my sons first ever away match and Rickie did us proud with his first Saints hatrick including that 40yrd (it gets bigger with every re-telling) wonder strike. It was also the first time I could remember saints beating a team four times in one season.
  14. All I see here is your interpretation of what happened. Wheather you felt NC was crictical of AP or not thats how it came across to me (judging by posts others on here too) and more importantly the press. Just google AP and NC and you'll come across a dozen stories about NC being critical/unhappy with AP. It doesn't matter what NC intended he came across to many (not you granted) as critical becuase of comments he made in the press. As for the playoffs BBC interview listen from around 13.00mins he clearly states he want's playoffs, Also he was upset about the cups over league postion. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8565161.stm As the chairman he has every right to give AP a kick up the back side if he feels it's deserved. Just not in public where it opens the club up to this sort of crap which won't go away until AP leaves/is pushed or NC comes out in support of the manager.
  15. where all these blokes stood right in front of the OB. Some of those pictures look like they where taken from about five feet away. How stupid do you have to be to kick of in front OB let alone ones carrying cameras at a football match?
  16. Can't we do both? a good team should be able to.
  17. No that was Benjii who was mistaken. I was quoting Saint Donvan who went to school with the Notts county version. Stephen is quality, plus i went to school with him at millbrook so it would be nice to have a local lad in the squad
  18. Stephen is quality He looked average at best got to love this forum:D
  19. I'm hoping we just fast forward to August. Several months of speculation about the manager and our best players leaving, while being linked with all sorts of crap journey men by the press won't be much fun. Next season should hopefully be a blast I can't wait. At least the world cup will give my a football fix to take my mind off things until our league winning season starts.
  20. You're right we won't win every game at home but by the same token we will win games on the road too. My point is considering our home form of late draws on the road aren't bad results. Wins are better but if we draw it's not time for people to slit their wrists. We dropped points at home early in the season that cost us not draws away.
  21. I've said this loads of times before but draws on the road are fine as long as you are winning at home if you do this you take 2pts a game over a season that should be more than enough for a top two place. It's not our away form we should worry about but making sure we win all our home games and draw are away games. We should play like Oldham when ever we go away;-)
  22. Well I did say it was tounge in cheek and yes it's only over the last quarter of the season. Intrestingly if you look back over the other quarters of the season AP has been in the top ten of managers in the last three quarters based purely on matches played and results.
  23. Alright this is a bit tounge in cheek but according to the League managers assocation Pardew is the seventh best performing manager in all leagues so if we're going to replace him we need to do it with one of the managers in 6th to first spot to get a better manager http://www.leaguemanagers.com/awards/tissot-league.html Of those only two are reasonably likely to come to our club. They are Kenny Jacket and Steve Cotterill which would people like? Another alternative is that Bristol city lie 15th in the table with according to the table no manager (I know they have Coppell now). Maybe a whole new way of doing things for us, just let the players sort themselves out and see where it goes;-)
  24. For all those using Man city and Spurs as examples these teams have spent lots of money to finish possibly fourth, is that succsess? Secondly take -10 pts of either of those teams and they wouldn't even have enough points for seventh. Why do people find it so hard to accept that giving everyone else a 10pt head start was always going to make it difficult. Also why are we talking about costing us promotion? NC said he wanted playoffs he never said anything about promotion this year. Play offs do not = promotion.
