Would we need to replace JWP? He doesn't even have a nailed down starting position. Surely the money and squad place could be used in a position where we are short like RB, A better CB or another attacking player. Can't see the point of selling him to buy another CM.

Even last season when we where total turd we where hardly blown away by Burnley. We should be able to win this its Burnley not Man city coming to SMS. As usual with Burnley it will be us camped out in their half trying to break down a 10 man defence.

Grealish is one year younger than JWP with no where near the PL experience and Maddison, while 2 years younger, has never played above championship level so right now there is no reason for them to cost more than JWP other than some idea they will potentially be better one day as opposed to buying a PL proven player.

Never been a massive fan of him he is still a player, after all this time, who doesn't even have a regular position in the squad. He isn't a holding/DM, he isn't a proper 10 or attacking midfielder and isn't really a wide player. Takes a decent corner and always gives his best but really he is a jack of all trades master of none central midfielder a useful squad player. If Hughes is going to play a back three I can't even see where JWP is going to fit in the matchday elven. If we sold him to free up space/money/wages for another more useful signing I wouldn't mind but 10 million is taking the **** if Jack Grelish is worth £25 million JWP is certainly worth that to.

Tbf if as Steve says we haven't received any bids for him its Cedric and his agent that left it to late rather than the club. I'm pretty sure sure the club would have happily cashed in on him if they had received a decent offer for him earlier in the summer.

Maybe in this case the club really don't know what's going on. It seems from the ITK snippets in this thread he was expected back, hasn't turned up for pre- season and the club haven't had any contact from him The assumption would be he is trying to get a move away but it seems the club haven't had any offers, according to Steve, for him so its all a bit odd. The sickness seems like a cover story that sounds better than "We have no idea where our player is" Might also explain the alleged pursuit of the French RB rumoured in the press recently.

The middle lot where all, bar Burnley, hovering in around the relegation zone at some point last season and all of them bar Burnley sacked a manager. There is the top six and then there is everyone else. This best of the rest thing seems to have come about the last few years from fans of the 14 clubs outside the top six to give us something to get excited about. The truth is there are 6 good sides and 14 meh sides in the PL.

That's what I figured usually if a player is throwing a strop because he wants a big move that gets in to the press pretty quickly. I can't remember seeing any stories linking Cedric with anyone. Maybe someone is interested in him but if they are its unusual not to hear something about it in the press.

Surely if a big club had come in for him there would be something in the press about it? I haven't seen anything but I could have missed it. I'm pretty sure if Real, Man U or who ever had bid for Cedric we would have heard about it?

iirc He had missed a clear pen on Lambert before that though then missed another foul on Lambert before giving Lambert a pen that was dubious. I seem to remember both games against Brighton that season where nasty affairs with lots of cards and fouls Lambert got sent of in the return game as well.

That's not really true though is it? If anything the team got better after MoPo left which coincided with our best two seasons, in league terms, in modern times. If anything it was Koeman leaving that saw our recruitment go down hill.
