Cedric Soares - Official: Loaned to Arsenal
doddisalegend replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Has anyone seen any rumours of any club being interested in Cedric this summer. I know in the past their have been some Lol rumours about Real but I don't think I've ever seen much interest in him from elsewhere. Mind you being Portuguese he will probably rock up at Wolves. -

The inflation of players sales goes up every transfer window its pointless comparing what we sold someone for two or three summers ago with what players are being sold for this summer. It's like house prices you wouldn't get upset that the house you sold a year ago is worth more now would you? -
Who said agents fees? what about up keep of the stadium, up keep of the training ground, players wages, non playing staff wages, utility bills and a whole host of other **** I probably haven't even thought of? Now yes all clubs will have these but no doubt these outgoings vary by club unless you think every club has the same out going costs? Giving me the earning of clubs doesn't help if we don't know what the out goings are. I have no idea if the club is just sitting on piles of cash they are refusing to spend but the idea on here that all the TV money is available to just splash on new players seems simplistic in the extreme.

They are on the O/S

Yes because every team has exactly the same out goings and costs and exactly the same income don't they? I guess you've checked out the latest accounts of every PL team to check that....

StuartJamesGNM: Alfie Mawson set to undergo a medical at Fulham tomorrow. Fee about £15m. Ready to return to full training after knee op - could be fit for opening day. I'd be a little concerned if we signed a player who is having a knee op.. -

the first one has us down in 17th but it does appear to be a fans poll... -
Its almost like there are no other costs associated with running a football club other than buying and selling players..

I think for now McCarthy's end of last season form (he pulled off some excellent saves to secures us vital points last season) gives him the No1 spot but he now has proper competition and if his form drops off we shouldn't have any compunction about giving Gunn the jersey instead.

Hoedt was poor a lot of the mistakes at the back involve Hoedt he switches off a lot and has a tendency to overdo things in dangerous areas. I'm all for ball playing CBs but sometimes you just need to KISS and bang the ****ing ball into row Z or up field.

Sean Dyche saying Burnley are being priced out of the PL But Dyche believes Burnley’s experience in the transfer market this summer has reaffirmed how they are the “minnows of the Premier League” and fears there may come a time when the spending power of rivals leaves the club powerless to compete without compromising their existence. “There are players I’ve rung up about that you would be in disbelief if I told you the numbers [involved] – you would be flummoxed,” Dyche said. “And then when you hear their wages you wouldn’t believe it. The numbers are just crazy, for any player. They’re through the roof. It’s certainly a seller’s market. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/08/01/burnley-could-priced-premier-league-insists-manager-sean-dyche/ -
McQueen was stuck at RWB back first half and really struggled. He got into some decent positions but as soon as the ball came to him he couldn't use his right foot at all and just looked a mess. Targett came on in the second half and to his credit put in son decent crosses from the wrong side.

So pre-season is meaningless and all that but results so far are this pre-season are Goals For. Against 3. 3 3. 2 0. 3 2. 0 3. 2 So 11 scored and 10 conceded which kind of suggests the defence is more of an issue than scoring goals right now.

I think Sheffield Utd where linked with Gallagher but looks like their pre-season has gone a bit tits up as their co owners have fallen out and taking each other to court http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6016503/amp/Bitter-battle-Blades-Sheffield-United-boardroom-dispute-threatens-derail-season.html?__twitter_impression=true -

Are they trying to start the season with a whole new first 11 or something? -
Sat on the bus first time I've seen us in the flesh this pre-season Bad - defence still looks dodgy as ****. Hoedt being the main culprit he is just so mistake prone. But the whole back line, regardless of who was in I tonight, just seems not quite on with regards to picking up runners and being aware of what is around them. Shane Long isn't getting any better. Romeu still looks way off the player he was under Puel. Finishing could be better first half we carved out some good chances with some good play and then finished them off with some **** poor finishing. Pros - Armstrong looks a good player always looking to move the ball forward and scored a nice goal to. Austin showed what he can do if you give him the ball in the box. Targett can use his right foot. Vestgaard can actually win the ball in the air. Not sure about players running at him though but at least he gives the back line an aerial presence. Overall I thought we where decent in patches but many on the same issues from Las season are still hanging around like a bad smell. The one thing that gives me hope is we haven't really put out what I think is our strongest team yet tho pre season.
-
I'd agree about the midfield looking forward especially Armstrong who is always looking to move the ball forward..I like the look of him so far. Better than last season I'd say.
-
Sat here at half time. Their first goal was excellent finishing their second was **** poor defending especially Shane Long. Player wise Armstrong looks pretty good probably best player on the pitch in a saints shirt. Shane long still looks fecking awful. God knows why McQueen is playing RWB when he has no right foot at all. We've had the lions share of the game some nice attacking moves let down by the usual **** poor finishing. Our defence hasn't had much to do not sure they could do much about the first certainly should have done better with the second.

Compete with Heat shoot out scene on the big screen...

I've got a horrible feeling we are going to start with JWP or Reed playing as a stop gap RWB...
-
I think he was close to Nigel Adkins and got most of his info from there...

I don't now where the idea that if we don't have pre-game music the crowd will create its own atmosphere comes from. The singing sections at SMS are half empty at kick off people round us are still taking their seats fives minutes after kick off and the rest of the ground is to busy chatting (apparently) to sing. The only people making a noise before kick off are the away fans so anything that drowns them out is fine by me.

I doubt Yoshida or Cedric will be up to 90 minutes against Burnley they are a few weeks behind every body else with regards to pre-season.
