  1. I assumed he had joined the Paranormal Investigation Team of Atlanta. Charlie Austin Ghostbuster had a certain ring to it..
  2. As long as he scores goals I couldn't give a **** if he is a bit of a lad on a super polite gentleman. All I want is him to stay fit and bang in some goals.
  3. I think so it might take couple of seasons and some good transfer windows to get us back to being a top 10 side. We have had four bad transfer windows in a row I don't think we can put it right in one summer. The hope for me this season is just to be better than last season.
  4. That's just as much conjecture as the he has attitude theory TBF. No one has got a clue why he didn't feature much under three different managers.
  5. It would be kind of funny if Gudio ends up being the hit in Spain rather than Boufal..
  6. Well it appears Gabbi isn't going anywhere according to agent. http://sportwitness.co.uk/agent-confirms-player-definitely-staying-southampton-says-interest/
  7. I think they had the smallest wage bill in the league last season staying up has given them a lot of cash and plenty of manoeuvre room with regards to FFP.
  8. I'm always excited about the start of the season I love my day out at the football....the excitement will probably have disappeared 45 minutes into the first game of the season but right now I'm in full "bring it in on" mode
  9. On that basis half the west ham team could just walk out after the troubles at their stadium last season. There is no way sporting can just let them go it will almost certainly end up in a legal mess.
  10. The question is who is the upgrade and are they actually in our price range? What is an acceptable number of goals for a striker in a team like saints 10?, 15? I mean Richarlison scored 5 goals last season and just cost Everton north of 30 million. We'd all like a prolific striker at saints I'm just not sure what a club like us can realistically afford to bring in that will be an upgrade on our current lot. Seriously it's worth checking out this link to last seasons PL top scorers and just ponder how average most PLs strikers are and just how expensive the top ones would be (not that any of them would come to saints) http://www.worldfootball.net/goalgetter/eng-premier-league-2017-2018/ that leaves us trying to dig up a gem from a foreign league or the lower leagues which is a pretty big risk in our position anyway its probably worth a shot but it could easily not work out.
  11. Thing is after four bad transfer windows I don't think we can reverse all the damage in one window. So I'd certainly take a solid mid table finish this season to give us a base to push on from in future seasons.
  12. Yeah I think it will get very messy before it is finished. I imagine lawyers will be involved.
  13. If he turns out to be free. I can't sporting just letting all these players walk with out a legal fight. Can you imagine the carnage if they don't and it sets a precedent for players just to cancel their contracts every time they are unhappy?
  14. Yeah it makes you realise that the vast majority of PL teams don't have a reliable high scoring player. Most teams are lucky to get an 8-10 goals a season forward and judging by Everton's latest signing even that is going to cost you way north of 25 million.
  15. I thought Armstrong was supposed to be a bit rapid according to Celtic fans?
  16. Here is the list of PL top goal scorers. Only one player outside the top six netted more than 12 goals in the season and that was Vardy (with 20). The next best goal scorers from a non top six side was Glenn Murray and Marezh (with 12) I think that highlights just how hard it is for teams outside the top six to land a regular goal scorer and any player who can net you the magic 20 a season in the PL is probably out of a non top six price range. http://www.worldfootball.net/goalgetter/eng-premier-league-2017-2018/
  17. So what? everyone has now decided that we have an average team full of average players now. Funny how when some of us where pointing that out the last two seasons we where shot down and told it was a good team let down by the managers. Perhaps it wasn't just the managers after all then...
  18. Have to say signing Clasie always seemed like Koeman doing his mate a favour in helping him jump on the PL gravy train.
  19. Doesn't that happen with just about every transfer? There always seems to be several different reported fees when a transfer goes through. I imagine the selling club include every add no matter how unlikely while the buying club gives the lowest possible basic fee sans any add ons either that or the press just pluck some random number out of the air..
  20. you do know 13 teams in the PL failed to score more than they let in last season don't you?
  21. To go full Sunderland we need to sack Hughes in late September. Part of Sunderland's problem was they would sack a manager every season bring in a new one who would then want his own signings and not the ones brought in by the last manager.
  22. Our best two seasons in modern history where plastering over the cracks? The damage came the summer Koeman left when we ****ed about getting in a new manager and replaced (or in same cases didn't replace at all) badly a number of big players which shattered the spine of the team..
  23. and the chance to be attacked by your own fans in a completely unpoliced stadium if you have a couple of bad results on the trot … lovely.
  24. For some reason the last couple of seasons announcing to saintsweb you are giving up your ST has become some sort of badge of honour I'm not sure how representative on the wider fan base it really is though.
