Sheffield Weds 1-2 Saints - Match Thread

Bree certainly puts my back up!

MOTM for me was Classie who ran the show and once upon a time he couldn’t get in our team…..Those were the days….
-
Spot on and I was there. Armstrong runs around chasing shadows and is increasingly unproductive. Che is about 1% better. That team would not get anywhere near promotion. Possession football is one thing and very commendable, however when played at such a very slow pace is so easy to defend. Martin has to train the guys to move the ball far far quicker than this. Honestly standards have dropped a long way in recent seasons.

You must be very easily pleased 😂
-
You have to be joking! That was largely atrocious today.
-
This is crap
-
Christ … Fell asleep three times! Wouldn’t more than fifteen quid to watch that.
-
Totally agree with that. He is not close to what we need for our ambitions.
-
Smallbone definitely
-
Sorry but disagree. Doyle may not have been perfect, however he offered far more than most first half and was intelligent with his anticipation and positioning… Played well second half also but didn’t stand out as we had a much improved team second half.
-
Can anyone at all explain why Doyle was nowhere near being picked last season?
-
Afraid to say but , they look infinitely better than us. Here’s an idea, how about running? Just a vague idea, I’ve got no coaching badges…..
-
Yeah he doesn’t have a football brain, never going to be good enough
-
Who told our players we are in a compulsory walking football match?
-
Dire dire football from us.
-
Totally ridiculous. He had no pace left when he last played for us. He is way too old and would serve no purpose what so ever. It is a big fat definite no.
-
Pleased to see that this year we are upping our pre season competition. We usually play some part timers in a foreign league and then maybe one decent team just we start the season. This year looks as though we mean business and none of this ‘It’s about fitness’ nonsense. Looking forward to seeing us play and definitely going to a friendly or two.
-
Precisely. The huge issue for us since and during Ralph was that the gap between defence and midfield was impossibly large. There was no route out from the back and hence invariably the ball ended up back to our goalkeeper or we were losing possession altogether. In possession we had everyone 50 yards in front of the ball, a ridiculous tactic that also left us completely open to counter attacks on the occasions we did manage to move forward. To defend JWP slightly, he had no outlet to pass to forwards which is why ( to some extent) he constantly ended up passing backwards. It was like writing in block capitals rather than joined up writing…. No cohesion or structure could be built.

This will happen! Surveillance is now encroaching on many people’s lives and it will happen to you too…. 1984 is upon us now and within the next generation it will become even more Orwellian … I am now tracked 24 hrs a day ( no I am not a criminal) Am now told by government that cameras are next - 24 hrs a day… So, it’s happening… Unfortunately because government pick off gradually no one says stop…

Semmens was totally ineffective as a leader and was never a ‘winner’
-
One of the reasons for the losing mentality was Semmens who had stated he had no ambition on several occasions, he has gone and rightly so. Hopefully the mentality from the top will now change, players must get the message from the CEO down that we ‘expect’ to win the league and anything less is below our beliefs and expectations given the player and club resources we have. If the message doesn’t come loud and clear from the top the Manager doesn’t stand a chance with motivating the team to win. I am afraid imo Semmens was a disaster for the club and this is why he was moved on.

The first name on the team sheet is ? Moi 😁 Our best player without the ball apparently and our best in training! If he is the best without the ball it would be prudent would it not, to leave him in the stands 😁
-
If you watch carefully he’s very good off the ball !! 😂
-
He plays like he’s wasted!
