  1. 2 different scenarios for Radio Solent: 1. How they previewed the Pompey match this afternoon at approx 2.03 this afternoon; Pompey... big club ... great travelling support ... Oxford manager could have been Pompey manager but not good enough for Pompey ... Good chance of 3 points today as Oxford a bit dodgy at the moment.... 2. Their dilemma for next season Do they keep the Non League show at 6.00 pm or do they move it forward so that they can talk about Pompey??
  2. These odds are amazing. Fill your boots time I reckon.
  3. Today has not been good for them. York and Mansfield had good wins and have gone above the Skates. Bottom of the table Northampton got a cracking 3 points away at promotion chasing Newport meaning that the Skates are now only 4 points off the bottom. Even Torquay managed a point at home against promotion chasers meaning that the Skates are now 3 points off the relegation spots.
  4. No. It was a joke. Shaw breathed on Holt and a penalty was given. In the same way a penalty was given for shirt pulling at Arsenal. Shirt puilling was done throughout the match by both teams but for some reason twa ttenburg gave the penalty for the shirt pull by Fonte .... even though Jos's shirt was being pulled at the same time by an arsenal player.
  5. Newton Circus is good but the locals consider it overpriced and full of tourists. Chilli Crab on the coast road is a definite must. There is also a very good open air food court there. I personally think that Chinatown offers a lot - good food and interesting shopping. Made to measure suits used to be good value there but the pound has weakened in recent years against the Sing dollar. Foot massages are good value and a great way to relax. They are not at all seedy (well, most of them are not) and can be quite addictive. The MRT is a great way to travel and imho much better than the busses. Sentosa is ok but you are a little remote there from the main town - mind you so much is opening on Sentosa nowadays that you may just want to stay there. Little India is a good place. There is a huge department store there called Mustapha which never closes and is where you can buy virtually anything. Other places to visit / things to do would be the Botanical Gardens and a Duck Tour. You cannot really go wrong in Singapore. I am sure that you will come back with your own personal favourites - it would be interesting to find out what you think of the place once you have been there. Don't forget to try fishhead curry!!
  6. A really good place. Brilliant seafood. Try the local delicacy - Fishhead curry. It is better than it sounds - although I have never gone for the eyeball which is what the locals really enjoy.
  7. Should stop the idiot from giving any more last penalties against us.
  8. It may be a New Year but the skates still show the same delusion. Once I got back to the car after the afternoon at SMS I caught the last 20 mins of Radio Solent's sport programme. I was in time to hear the tweet about their defeat today not helping their promotion campaign and laughed it off as a nutjob having a little fun,,,, but maybe it wasn't . There was then an interesting conversation between the Solent guy and a skate player which concluded out that as their next game was against "lowly" Accrington they would be able to get 3 points. It was not pointed out that Accrington are only a point behind the Skates. I was expecting the game to be described as a relegation 6 pointer .... but of course not as Accrington are obviously so inferior to the Skates. Until they begin to show respect for the division they are in , this thread has plenty of mileage in it.
  9. I agree completely. How can he be allowed not to officiate at Everton for 6 years just because they do not like him? Why cannot we say that we do not want him to officiate at our games becausewe do not like him?
  10. What I cannot work out is whether it would be good or not for them to get relegated again. The conference is a difficut leato get out of - just ask Luton who have been there for several seasons now, It appears that the Conference teams have more financial regulation than teams in the FL. However the siege mentality that you mention could get stromger in the Conference.
  11. Of course they are sticking around. The deluded phew have bought season tickets for a pittance. Once they have bought tickets they are included in the attendance figure whether they go to Fratton Park or not. The favourites for promotion at the start of the season will be playing in league 2 next season - if they are lucky. Lets see whether their attendance figures hold up next year. Unless they completely give away season tickets I will be very surprised if next season sees many crowds above 10,000.
  12. I also listened on 5 live. This is an accurate summing up of their assessment of the game. Kevin Radcliffe was the "completely unbiased" match summariser that they used. When the match started you thought you were listening to Everton TV or something similar. All he taked about was Everton and we were there solely to make up the numbers. I took pleasure in the way that as the game progressed he was taliking more about us and less about Everton. Mind you, the discussion on here about the penalty was complete news to anyone who had relied upon the 5 Live match commentary.
  13. The bookies have them at 16/1 for relegation..... and they are as low as 9/1 for promotion. Something not right there!!
  14. I am not sure about mid table mediocrity. There seems to be many strugglers in that league who have a bit of something about them. For example Accrington had an awful start to the season but are now pullimg themselves out of the mire. Northampton are rock bottom but they reached the play off final last year, have changed their manager and could easily get out of trouble. The Skates's lack of respect for the division which they are in could easily see them not appreciating that they are in a relegation battle until it is too late.
  15. My thoughts as well. He could have chosen a better time and at least finished the series. The Sydney pitch is often a spinner's paradise. I would have thought he could have waited and retired on a high after that match - or is he also mentally shot and doesn't believe that he is up to it any more??
  16. Name names. Who were these "forum visionairies" ??
  17. I reckon that Mush needs some sort of award for tryinjg to educate the particularly stupid.
  18. Spurs may be a bigger club than us but they are nowhere near as big a club as their fans think they are. They haven't won the league for over 50 years. I cannot remember the last time that they came close to winning it - but many Spurs fans always think that next year will be their year. Spurs fans are the north London equivalent of the Skates when it comes to delusion. Trying to satisfy the demands of these fans must be one of the most thankless tasks in football - so for no other reason I think that MP is unlikely to leave us for Spurs.
  19. I couldn't agree more. You have to respect the league you are in. Whatever league you are playing in is the correct league for you. If you learn this lesson I believe that you enjoy your football a lot more. Personally it was only towards the end of our third season in the Championship that I came to realise that we were in that league for a reason - and that reason was that we were not good enough for the Prem. Until then we were a team that was bound to get back to its rightful place. For a long time I thought it was only Redknapp being a c ock / dodgy Billy Davies / bad luck in the play off semi final / Paul Allen not coming up with the goods etc etc that stopped us getting back up in the Premiership. After all we had been to a recent cup final. We didn't deserve to play "little" clubs like Burnley and Hull - they were a lot smaller than us even though Burnley and Hull made it up to the Premiership long before we did ! I think it was our last day win against Sheffield United that made me realise that we had no good given right to be in the top tier. We were not very good. We were not heading back to the Premiership . We needed to work hard & to respect the League we were in. I found that with respect came enjoyment. All of a sudden it is not a disaster to "only draw away" at places like Wycombe. Victory against Dagenham and Redbridge tastes sweet - even though it is "only" Dagenham and Redbridge. As others have said, I have some great memories of our time in League 1 - even of the " Double Dutch year." Until the skates learn the same lesson and start to show some respect for the League in which they are in , they will not be able to go forward.
  20. It was not meant as an abusive post. I am sorry that you have taken it that way. It was really meant as a bit of advice. I apprecate that it is hard on you to disappear for a short time .... but even you must admit that your posting style is on the aggressive, sarcastic side. If you were to take a break from here you could then not be blamed for disrailing so many posts. People may start to respect your opinions more!! I would miss some of your contributions if you were to take a short sabbatical. You are clearly intelligent and sometimes you put the finger straight onto the relevant part of a thread. Sometimes you act like a complete pr att . Its up to you .... but you undoubtedly do seem to attract a lot of flack and the way that things are going you are going to be spending all your time on here writing "its not my fault " posts like these this morning.
  21. So in other words it is not your fault but a lot of people on here think you are an arrogant, sarcastic t**ser who brings the kiss of death to so many threads. According to you it is not your fault but you seem to be in a minority with that opinion. Perhaps you should do the honourable thing and walk away for a few weeks. Let the "mongs" on the "mong board" get on with their "mongism." Perhaps the board will improve . Perhaps it won't. But at least you will not then be blamed when people say that threads have been derailed.
  22. After the first match of the season I had a couple of cheeky bets on them being relegated (7/1) and finishing bottom (20/1). I had rarely seen such a lacklustre team at the start of the season as WBA on that day. The subsequent purchase of the likes of Sessegnon seemed to sort out that problem but perhaps those bets are not the waste of money they seemed to be a couple of months ago.
  23. Anybody who writes as well as you do sir, can exist wherever he wants.
