  1. Any ideas about parking ?
  2. I see the great CB Fry has struck again. "No manager has a better record that Redknapp" apart from Joe Royle and Martin O'Neill and Steve mcClaren and Walter Smith I think CB Fry is auditioning for a part in "Life of Brian." LOL
  3. Joe Royle was a contemporary of Redknpp's. He won the FA up. He took Oldham as a second division team to a League Cup final. He won promotion with Oldham and Man City. His record is better than Rednapp's - and he didn't have to manage for a generation and a half to build up his record.
  4. Hardly a stellar record for somone with 30 odd years in football management.
  5. LOL. QPR almost certainly promoted!! You really are grasping at straws aren't you.
  6. A point at Morecambe was more than I was expecting but it could have been better for them. Not only were they 2-1 up for so long but Bristol Rovers 's victory meant that they soared past Pompey in the table. Draws are not particularly good for them atm. They need victories. The next 2 matches are going to be particularly important to them. If they don't win at least one of these games they will be in deep sh ite. A defeat next saturday when they are home to Torquay would be catastrophic. The most delicious aspect of their decline is how they don''t seem to appreciate their predicament. They are unbeaten in their last 7 according to Skate player on Solent yesterday. This may be true .... but they are nearer the bottom now than they were 7 games ago. Solent also seems to encourage this delusion "Don't worry. Its all coming together under Barker" was their message yesterday. Ah well. Come on Wycombe and Torquay. Win next week.
  7. Even by Factless's low standards this aticle is something else. Not only is it deadly dull (I defy anybody to get to the bottom whilst still paying attention) and has his own unique paragraph structure but it also contains the immortal phrase "at this moment in time". I appreciate that this phrase is beloved by cliche merchants like football managers (it is one of Hoddle's favourite phrases) but I am amazed that a so called professional journalist , a man who makes his iving by his writing skills, uses this phrase in print. There is a simple three letter word "now" which any wordsmith would use. He and Pompey deserve each other!!
  8. Good luck. I have donated but if Pompey get relegated and I pick up a wedge from the bookies your charity can have a mini wedge.
  9. Just think. Next season you are probably going to have to wait until after 6 pm before you hear about Pompey as that is when they cover the non league teams.
  10. The 606 bit was funny. On the one hand the caller said they took 4,000 - then in the next breath he explained that his driver who went with him was a Wolves fan. Perhaps they took 2,000 er 4,000 but half of them really support other teams. The fan also said that it was great fun visiting new clubs - that apparently was what football is all about He is going to have great fun visiting the Conference next season isn't he!!!
  11. 2 different scenarios for Radio Solent: 1. How they previewed the Pompey match this afternoon at approx 2.03 this afternoon; Pompey... big club ... great travelling support ... Oxford manager could have been Pompey manager but not good enough for Pompey ... Good chance of 3 points today as Oxford a bit dodgy at the moment.... 2. Their dilemma for next season Do they keep the Non League show at 6.00 pm or do they move it forward so that they can talk about Pompey??
  12. These odds are amazing. Fill your boots time I reckon.
  13. Today has not been good for them. York and Mansfield had good wins and have gone above the Skates. Bottom of the table Northampton got a cracking 3 points away at promotion chasing Newport meaning that the Skates are now only 4 points off the bottom. Even Torquay managed a point at home against promotion chasers meaning that the Skates are now 3 points off the relegation spots.
  14. No. It was a joke. Shaw breathed on Holt and a penalty was given. In the same way a penalty was given for shirt pulling at Arsenal. Shirt puilling was done throughout the match by both teams but for some reason twa ttenburg gave the penalty for the shirt pull by Fonte .... even though Jos's shirt was being pulled at the same time by an arsenal player.
  15. Newton Circus is good but the locals consider it overpriced and full of tourists. Chilli Crab on the coast road is a definite must. There is also a very good open air food court there. I personally think that Chinatown offers a lot - good food and interesting shopping. Made to measure suits used to be good value there but the pound has weakened in recent years against the Sing dollar. Foot massages are good value and a great way to relax. They are not at all seedy (well, most of them are not) and can be quite addictive. The MRT is a great way to travel and imho much better than the busses. Sentosa is ok but you are a little remote there from the main town - mind you so much is opening on Sentosa nowadays that you may just want to stay there. Little India is a good place. There is a huge department store there called Mustapha which never closes and is where you can buy virtually anything. Other places to visit / things to do would be the Botanical Gardens and a Duck Tour. You cannot really go wrong in Singapore. I am sure that you will come back with your own personal favourites - it would be interesting to find out what you think of the place once you have been there. Don't forget to try fishhead curry!!
  16. A really good place. Brilliant seafood. Try the local delicacy - Fishhead curry. It is better than it sounds - although I have never gone for the eyeball which is what the locals really enjoy.
  17. Should stop the idiot from giving any more last penalties against us.
  18. It may be a New Year but the skates still show the same delusion. Once I got back to the car after the afternoon at SMS I caught the last 20 mins of Radio Solent's sport programme. I was in time to hear the tweet about their defeat today not helping their promotion campaign and laughed it off as a nutjob having a little fun,,,, but maybe it wasn't . There was then an interesting conversation between the Solent guy and a skate player which concluded out that as their next game was against "lowly" Accrington they would be able to get 3 points. It was not pointed out that Accrington are only a point behind the Skates. I was expecting the game to be described as a relegation 6 pointer .... but of course not as Accrington are obviously so inferior to the Skates. Until they begin to show respect for the division they are in , this thread has plenty of mileage in it.
  19. I agree completely. How can he be allowed not to officiate at Everton for 6 years just because they do not like him? Why cannot we say that we do not want him to officiate at our games becausewe do not like him?
  20. What I cannot work out is whether it would be good or not for them to get relegated again. The conference is a difficut leato get out of - just ask Luton who have been there for several seasons now, It appears that the Conference teams have more financial regulation than teams in the FL. However the siege mentality that you mention could get stromger in the Conference.
  21. Of course they are sticking around. The deluded phew have bought season tickets for a pittance. Once they have bought tickets they are included in the attendance figure whether they go to Fratton Park or not. The favourites for promotion at the start of the season will be playing in league 2 next season - if they are lucky. Lets see whether their attendance figures hold up next year. Unless they completely give away season tickets I will be very surprised if next season sees many crowds above 10,000.
  22. I also listened on 5 live. This is an accurate summing up of their assessment of the game. Kevin Radcliffe was the "completely unbiased" match summariser that they used. When the match started you thought you were listening to Everton TV or something similar. All he taked about was Everton and we were there solely to make up the numbers. I took pleasure in the way that as the game progressed he was taliking more about us and less about Everton. Mind you, the discussion on here about the penalty was complete news to anyone who had relied upon the 5 Live match commentary.
