  1. He hasn't disappeared. He still regularly logs on and looks at the forum - his member profile shows he came on here on 24 October. Remember also that he claims to post on the main board using another name. He claims to use his wife's // sister's computer whilst wearing her knickers or something. I reckon he is lying. A true lass from Pompey wouldn't own any knickers !!
  2. What p***s me off is that when the 6-3 game gets mentioned these days, the radio media refer to it as the grey shirts game when Fergie made them change their shirts at half time. This was mentioned recently on Talk Sport. To be honest you don't listen to Talk Sport if you want sensible rational information so I did not get too concerned. Last week however FiveLive made the same mistake. To avoid any doubt we beat manu 3-1 (the grey shirts game) in April one year and we beat them 6-3 in October the same year - but different seasons. Talk Sport probably cannot conceive "lowly" Southampton as ever being capable of beating the mighty Man U. 5 Live these days are probably too busy making and playing their incessant jingles to bother to check facts.
  3. I found it impossible to get a beer yesterday. I was stuck in a queue which didn't move for 10 minutes & in the end gave it up as a bad job. Clearly I was in the wrong part of the ground ... but from where I was , we have nothing to learn from the Reading catering.
  4. I agree with much of this but would like a place to be found for Dickson. One of the forgotten men of the squad , I think he has something to offer.
  5. Yes it was. Why do you think they even got that number??
  6. No. Adkins does it as 5+ and 1 negative so that is what we should do.
  7. Lets do this the Adkins way: 5 positives from the match: 1. The defence stood up very well to all the corners that Reading had. Must have been about 15 and we comfortably dealt with them all. 2. Chaplow's performance. I felt previously that he was inconsistent. One good performance would be followed by a poor one. He was my MOM against West Ham and I thought he was equally good today. 3.The spirit around the club is so good. The fans were fantastic - especially in comparison with the shockingly quiet Reading bunch. This spirit was reciprocated by the players. To come back when 1-0 down with 10 men is magnificent. The way that the players came to celebrate with the fans once SDR had scored was superb. 4. Our fitness. We may have started slowly but we finished the stronger team. The goal was coming for us ... and if SDR had slipped the ball to Caaplow in the last 5 minutes instead of taking one touch too many, we could easily have had the winner. 5. Hammond's suspension will only ( I guess) be for the League Cup game - for which he may well have been rested. The 1 negative: The way that we couldn't hold the ball up in the first half which meant that Reading seemed to always have possession.
  8. I was taught that you have to say 7 positive things to one negative if you want the recipient to take the message on board in a positive manner. I will go back to my teacher and tell him that he is wrong. If Nigel does it 5:1 rather than 7:1, then five it is!!
  9. I take your point .... but who says that the verdict is not guilty??? Corp Ho - and he is the most laughed at poster on this board. I would never believe a word he says. If Corporate Ho says that Storrie teller is not guilty, the only likely verdict is guilty. Ignore whatever he says. Laugh at it and move on. Nobody yet knows what the verdict will be - least of all Corp Ho.
  10. Oh no. Not this old chestnut!! For reasons that defeat me this subject gets people going on here. How dare you suggest that SMS will be expanded. You will soon be subject to torrents of abuse and ridicule from Delldays and Turkish with Asda and climbing Everest being brought into the debate. I know that it is a sensible option but some people get very worked up on this subject!!

    Attendance

Its going to be like the poe vault world record which kept on being bettered by 1 cm. Each time there is a new record there is more publicity. there will probably be another 48 records between this attendance and 32,200!!
  12. I am sorry - you do not know what you are talking about. Corp Ho says their attendances are increasing ... and he is never wrong is he ????

    Sloe Gin

I once made damson gin but was a bit disappointed. It seemed a little "thin" and tasteless when compared to sloe gin. I don't think that the quality of the gin matters at all when making sloe gin. If you ever go to USA try and find a "Liquor store." THere you can buy bottles of locally produced gin (and vodka come to that) in 1.5 litre bottles for c £10. I have found this ideal for making sloe gin. Tax is already paid so you are not constrained by duty free limits - the only problem is the airline's weight allowance. Many states in the US do not have "Liquor Stores". The best one I have found was in Delaware. I have also found good ones in New Hampshire & Florida - but many states do not have them.

    Sloe Gin

I think any cider would do. The gin from the sloes makes the sloe cider very potent so I do not think you would want a strong cider.
  15. It is hilarious isn't it. Whenever Corp tries to do some maths it ends the same way. Mind you , he is probably a mathematical genius compared to the other dunderheads at Pompey.

    Sloe Gin

Keep the sloes once you have decanted the gin. Keep them in your bottle / demijohn and then add cider to them. Leave for 3 weeks or so , shaking every day or so and what you have then is a pretty special brew. Its pretty powerful stuff - but certainly slips down nicely.
  17. Well you did... but you didn't argue very well did you?? I suppose that it is difficult to argue that you are not financially fcked when 6 players get paid more than your gate receipts for a season. You did try to argue your case but you diidn't do very well. Ever since then you have come up with increasingly strange stories about Saints. I suppose that if you can keep your head in the sand , you will not notice how close you are to the precipice.
  18. Has anyone else noticed how Corp's posts have changed - and I don't just mean that he is no longer telling us "if the rumour about where the money's coming from (and how much of it there is ready to be used on players and improving the club) are true you lot are going to be pig sick." (see post 143 on this thread written a long time ago but rather funny knowing what we know now). He seems to have given up trying to tell us that Pompey are not financially fcked and how they can break even on their crowds of 14k. Instead he seems to have turned his attention to Saints and telling us things that we never knew about our team - like Lambert threw a wobbly because he didn't go to Newcastle. That we do not own our training ground. That Barnard is on £25k a week. I daresay next week we will learn that Marcus Leibher was a Nazi tank driver or that Adkins is really a Pompey fan or some other such rubbish dreamed up in the pubs of Portsmouth. Its almost as if he wants to divert our attention from the mess at Pompey. My guess is that as December 18th draws closer, the number of Corp Ho's posts will reduce. He will probably go into hiding again making a brief appearance to tell us nonsense such as Richard Chaplow is David Armstrong's secret lovechild or that Cortese eats babies with his spaghetti and pizza. You never know , perhaps he now agrees with Fitzhugh Fella that Pompey are heading for the precipice and financial disaster!!
  19. Sorry mate. There is no way that game will be played at 3 pm on a saturday.
  20. I agree with what you say about Mack (and Corpse). My response was to pfc 123
  21. No. You have just imagined that you have read the last few hundred pages. What a thick, stupid skate.
  22. Do you have any more information from your original source ??
  23. No. the point of the matching bet is that the bookie also puts on £30 for you at the same odds. Its the kind of thing that bookies do to tempt you in and then for you to lose your money with them. The only thing that they won't do is give you the stake back for the "matching " bit of the bet. So therefore (unless you already have a Sky Bet account) you open up an account with them and put £30 on Pompey to get relegated. Sky then match your £30 with another £30 meaning that you have £60 on them to get relegated at 11/2. This will return £330 plus your original £30 making £360 in total.
  24. The thing is that Pompey have been here before. However you present the numbers they are financially fcked (6 players between them costing over £1 million more than the season's gate receipts - and that is erring on the high side in revenue calculations !!!) . The only option is for Corp Ho and ourselves to at least make some money out of them. I did this 2 years ago when I got some incredible odds (c. 10/1) on them being bottom at Christmas and being relegated when they hit the financial buffers in the Premiership.. Just find a bookie offering odds on them being relegated this season. There are plenty on the internet offering 11/2 which I reckon is pretty good odds. If you go to Sky Bet and open up an account with them, they will match your first bet up to £30 - so £30 invested will return £360. Its got to be worth it. Go on Corp Ho. You know it makes sense. Bet on Pompey being relegated and you will be quids in.
