  1. Do you really think our captain wont start the game?
  2. Exactly, but back then we could reasonably assume that we'd score more goals than most of the opposition anyway.
  3. Generally speaking, Tadic, Boufal, Redmond, Højbjerg, Classie & JWP are all more-or-less the same level in my opinion. We've got lots of midfield options, but since Mane left they're all just much of a muchness. Compare our Midfield now to when we had Schneiderlin, Mane & Wanyama - all were hugely different players offering different things to the team and a class above what we have now.
  4. I listen to it, think it's great. Love the ones with ex-player interviews. Would love it if you managed to get some other old players, specifically Strachen era, like Killer, Pahars, Claus etc. on it.
  5. Wasn't the view from the Lazio fans that he wasn't great at playing as part of a back three because of his lack of pace?
  6. If you don't understand the difference between the words "conjecture" and "assumption", then sure... The word "conjecture" generally implies that based on the information and facts available to you, you come to form an opinion on a subject.
  7. From what I understood, he tried to pull off a "it's him or me" double bluff (with Puel) that didn't go exactly as planned (purely conjecture, no inside knowledge).
  8. The saying in Italian is even better - to smell, to feel and to hear is all the same verb - sentire. Worth keeping in mind with Juve fans, the worst plastics on the planet,
  9. Thanks for this, sounds great. Have downloaded and subscribed. Will give it a listen ASAP!
  10. This one will be interesting. Bertrand will only go to another club if he is guaranteed to be first choice LB (the reason he left Chelsea for Saints in the first place). If he goes to another club outside the top 7, Everton say, will be very interesting and show what our ambition is. Having said that, I think he would be first choice if he were at Liverpool.
  11. Why on earth did we give him a contract extension until 2019 just over a year ago? https://southamptonfc.com/news/2015-09-11/gazzaniga-extends-contract-until-2019
  12. Steven Davis is the most underrated player (by the fans) that we've had since Fernandes.
  13. Why do Stoke dislike us so much?
  14. Well yeah, it would have been a terrible cross.
  15. Agree but from behind the goal at the time for Martina's, I thought he was trying to cross it and it went wrong (luckily!). Boufal's (from the video at least) looked controlled and intentional.
  16. The difference is that Martina's looked like a fluke, Boufal's looked like he meant it.
  17. That was a MLT worthy goal.
  18. As I mentioned before, if CGIL, the Italian equivalent of Unison (so the "automatic" transport workers union if they don't individually opt-out), had gone on strike, it can completely shut down, and has done twice in the last 5 years (striking over pay and driverless trains, so not that different from the UK). The union that called the strike is a hard left union that will be much stronger in the south of Italy, but regardless still small. As someone else mentioned, if a train driver was a member of that union, and decided to go on strike, that particular train wouldn't run, but odds are the next train would. In Italy a lot of the time union membership is not based on politics either. As part of your (obligatory) fee, unions fill out your tax returns, provide workplace advice & legal aid amongst other useful things as routine. I.e. belonging to a hard left union might not mean the employee is hard left and wants to go on strike, just that the accountant used by their union's local branch is better than the other union's. Personally I would have rented a car
  19. That my friend, is the reason we're leaving the EU, in a nutshell.
  20. There are millions of laws in Italy. It's fairly common in Italy that these kind of regulations are made without any consolation. The parliament probably made the law and none of the clubs had the infrastructure to implement it, so the clubs pay lip service to it and then ignore it. On higher profile matches they probably check in problem turnstiles.
  21. Don't worry, you'll be back in the wondrous metropolitan beauty of Eastleigh soon.
  22. From ATM (Milan equivalent of TFL): For Friday 21st October the USB trade union has called out a national general 24-hour strike whose terms vary from city to city, as communicated today morning to our Company. In Milan the strike is planned from 8.45 to 15.00 and from 18.00 to the end of the service. http://www.atm.it/en/ViaggiaConNoi/InfoTraffico/Pages/Friday21stOctobernationalgeneralstrike.aspx That doesn't necessarily mean trains won't run though. It's optional for USB union members.
  23. If he's still in Milan DM me if you need any help with translation / local expertise etc, I'm not in the same time zone right now but can put you in touch with English speakers etc if need be. In my experience the Italian NHS is a fantastic health service, so I'm sure they'll do everything to help you and yours anyway with regards to all that, but on the off chance - feel free to reach out.
  24. There is no legal minimum age to buy alcohol un Italy, but it's illegal to supply anyone under 16 alcohol. A lot of places (including most supermarkets) are part of a voluntary program not to sell alcohol to under 18's. In reality, I've never seen anyone ID'd for gambling, alcohol or cigarettes in Italy, even to enter a club.
  25. The people that hang around there are the problem. If you're just changing to the metro there you shouldn't have a problem. In general it's a much safer city than, say, London.
