  1. My name is Jordan Florit. Asa and Steve Grant and The9 should all remember me from Sunday nights when JustMike used to get us all down Fleming Park.
  2. I would like to play please. I also have a plus one that would like to play. I am a left midfielder/striker. He is a central midfielder. Thank you.
  3. I never quite get the argument not for drinking it. If you bottled stomach acid, you wouldn't drink it for the same reasons........it is highly corrosive.
  4. Everton broke their's four times in four seasons* amounting to just over £40m, having sold Rooney for £25m. Maybe we should do that with the Chambo money. Or maybe we shouldn't. * James Beattie, Andrew Johnson, Yakubu and Fellaini
  5. If we go with the OP's thinking of 40 more points over 20 games, that's 2 points per game. If we were to win 2 games in every 3, that should ensure we get the 40 points to hit 90 and hopefully the title. But where do you see us picking up the necessary points? I've broken down the remaining fixtures into groups of three and tried to remain realistic, of course opinion will vary. The target is 6 points out of every 3 games: Southampton v Leicester, WIN Southampton v Cardiff, WIN Birmingham v Southampton, DRAW Total: 7, Running Total: 7 Southampton v Burnley, WIN West Ham v Southampton, LOSE Southampton v Derby, WIN Total: 6, Running Total: 15 Watford v Southampton, WIN Leeds v Southampton, DRAW Southampton v Ipswich, WIN Total: 7, Running Total: 22 Southampton v Barnsley, WIN Millwall v Southampton, WIN Hull v Southampton, LOSE Total: 6, Running Total: 28 Southampton v Doncaster, WIN Blackpool v Southampton, LOSE Southampton v Portsmouth, DRAW Total: 4, Running Total: 32 Crystal Palace v Southampton, LOSE Southampton v Reading, WIN Peterborough v Southampton, DRAW Total: 4, Running Total: 36 Middlesbrough v Southampton, DRAW Southampton v Coventry, WIN Total: 4, Running Total: 40 Until January is over and clubs have made their signings, this may be entirely pointless, as well as speculative, but I genuinely think we can do it. Whether we will though, that'll depend on Nigel and the lads!
  6. http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2012/01/01/the-best-of-2011-crawley-united-city-southampton-huddersfield-010101/ The tables make for good reading. It really does emphasize how good we were in 2011. In the football league in 2011 we scored the most goals and conceded the fewest and were the 4th best team in England by the points per game table.
  7. http://thisisfutbol.com/2012/01/blogs/a-new-dawn-for-the-japanese-contingent-in-european-football Quite an interesting article, short mind, on Japanese football and its "explosion."
  8. On two ex-Saints players playing in the Premier League, where one is criticized most weeks and a lot if his own fans don't rate him and the other is supposedly up there with the World's best and only Barcelona could take him, but who is who: Theo Walcott : 46 starts, 15 goals, 16 assists. Gareth Bale : 54 starts, 18 goals, 10 assists.
  9. hahaha, the Cortese arm had me in stitches.
  10. me then.
  11. Has Cortese wished us a happy new year? Did he wish us a Happy Christmas? If not, he is definitely lacking ambition.
  12. Enjoyable article. Thank you for posting.
  13. This x 10.
  14. If this posts it will be the last of my day. I agree with you, I was just providing some useful links for stats to be interpreted because that's what they need to be. It is no good just looking at stats and like Turkish said, pointing out that say Faurlin is better than Vidic because he has made more tackles; you have to look at how many has he tried, and therefore who was the highest tackle success rate. If this example is to be continued, who was the best tackle rate in which thirds of the pitch etc. Stats are often misused purely to add weight to an article, however if used correctly, numbers are far more accurate than opinion, especially here. Cheers Matt.
  15. Luckily there is no subjectivity then, Matt. Opta are statisticians and do well to accurately quantify most features of the game. Therefore, they've defined key passes too: Key Pass: 1. A pass/cross that is instrumental in creating a goal-scoring opportunity, for example a corner or free-kick to a player who then assists an attempt, a chance-creating through ball orcross into a dangerous position. 2. The final pass or pass-cum-shot leading to the recipient of the ball having an attempt at goal without scoring. I only have three posts a day, so the full lunk can be found here http://www.optasports.com/about/news/feature-opta's-football-action-definitions.html
  16. That's where Opta excel. They don't only produce an assists chart, like every footballing hub does, but they have more in-depth analysis such as "chances created." Chances created defines as "assists + key passes," so logs any balls that had the potential to lead to a goal if it wasn't for that donkey up front with a poor "Chance conversion" which is a "calculation of goals scored divided by shots attempted (excluding blocked attempts)." If stats and analysis really appeal to you, the places to be are, apart from the obvious: Opta http://www.bettingpreview.co.uk/blog/ http://www.zonalmarking.net/
  17. Forte got some minutes on the pitch today, along with Holmes, Dicko, Forecast and Butterfield. After the game + 5 minutes, they all came running out with monitors on to commence what looked like a training session.
  18. http://facebook.com/geoff.eltringham Tell him!
  19. I'd be miffed if what was going on there was going on here. It is quite interesting as well as humourous. They made yet another signing this week........... http://www.maycauseoffence.com/2011/12/01/donny-olders/
  20. I thought I pulled my groin running from the away technical box, where I ball boy, to the corner flag ball boy yesterday when Guly scored. Exciting thing, football.
