The point is that they don't have to. It's a choice. A luxury if you will. I remain of the view though that it and health should be exempt, but the view that someone has paid once for something that they elect not to use, so shouldn't pay a value added tax on something they elect to subscribe to, doesn't hold water.
-
Devils advocate - is not charging VAT, in itself, not a tax break? Is the charging of VAT merely a removal of that break? My position remains though that VAT shouldn't be charged on private health costs or school fees.
-
For me, the VAT issue is the same as for health in that it's provided by the state by default. I elect to fund my healthcare. I do it because I benefit, not because the strain on the state is reduced, but it is. If I ever elected private education, the same would apply. There's no VAT on private health costs. I'm not with Ralph in thinking there should be a tax break per se (I take your point though that not charging VAT it is a break - adding it is not punitive), but I don't see it as a luxury that should be vatable. I also think the suggestion that VAT is being charged, and I paraphrase, to price the peasants out of nice schools, is nonsense.

I reckon St Mary's, with us as a PL club, could sell more tickets. I don't doubt that. What I doubt is that the cost makes it justifiable.

It does seem odd that he'd agree to the termination of a contract which has almost 3 years to run.

I don't think you have a lot of time for the plight of the muslims in Gaza, or the behaviour of the Israeli regime against other Muslim states. Yes, I find that unpleasant in any human, and surprising in someone with close Muslim family members. I do find it odd though that you cannot see how someone could (wrongly) assume that your wife is Muslim given what you've said about her and her close family. My misunderstanding is not the gotcha you claim it as.
-
This has been done to death. Building costs, and materials, have gone through the roof. If there was a vague business case for it previously, I can't imagine there'd be any merit in it even if we were promoted and had fans banging on the doors for tickets.
-
And thank you for clarifying that your Asian/Arabic wife, with a Muslim father, and other close family members who are Muslim, is not herself a Muslim.
-
How about the 17,000 kids, and non Hamas people? Fair game? Is it ok that Israel hit other sovereign nations in pursuit of their targets?
-
FFS, and you've spent all morning spitting your teeth out. Forming the impression that an Asian woman with a Muslim father and other Muslim close family members, is herself Muslim, is not particularly wild.
-
I really don't have to do that. Your posts just yesterday did not denounce the Israeli action in Qatar, and was very nonchalant about the deaths from it. Back in topic (the topic isn't you or any wife you may have): Are you ready to denounce what the Israeli regime are doing in Gaza, or the West Bank, or did yesterday in Qatar? It's a yes or no.
-
Your posting history is up there and elsewhere mate. I'm allowed my opinion of you, and whilst I appreciate that dents your ego, but that's my opinion. On topic. Are you ready to denounce what the Israeli regime are doing in Gaza, or the West Bank, or did yesterday in Qatar? It's a yes or no.
-
Whether she is or she isn't makes no odds to me, bizarre that you feel that it would. On topic, your attitude towards the behaviour of the Israeli regime yesterday and over the recent past, is at odds with that of decent people. If your wife or father or in law is Muslim, it feels odd to me that you have so little compassion for the wanton killing of Muslims by the Israeli regime. Regardless of your wife's religion, I regard you as a bit of a cunt on this issue.
-
Behave. Everything I know or understand about posters is based entirely on what they've posted. Don't flatter yourself that I give a monkeys about who or what you are in the real world. If you haven't said or implied that your missus is Muslim, then I'm a Viking called Erik.
-
Indeed. The impression has been given of having a Muslim wife and in-laws. Very odd to now suggest otherwise.
-
No coincidence of the timing after the Qatar incident. "If they can smash up a Qatari buildings, what's wrong with us having a little mooch about in the sky".

This will likely be a "malfunction" of the control system or some such and all but be forgotten by Trump tomorrow. Whilst unconnected, when Israel can get away with literal murder in other sovereign nations, it's not surprising that Russia will test the boundaries.
-
Ha! You joined a chorus of people branding SoG as anti semitic, which he isn't, but your attitudes to the deaths of Muslims is appalling. To crown it, you mock him for highlighting his non white acquaintances, whereas your persona sometimes claims to have a Muslim wife. Glasshouses/stones.

We don't operate the catering side, so we don't make make or lose money as such. That said, whether the external company are paid a fee to cover these games which may be a loss leader for them, we won't know. Ticket costs were a tenner and three quid for kids. If we assume half were adults, that's £26k in ticket sales. Operational costs are more than a few salaried staff, none of whom would normally be working. I think it very likely that cleaning staff, grounds people, security, and all other operational staff are being paid extra for the shift. Our friends at chat CPT estimate a total of £30-40k per match operational costs. £26 minus £30-40k = a loss.

It's taken a while to click, but blimey, it did tonight.

You've shown yourself to be an inhumane cunt during this "war" mate. There's universal outrage amongst normal thinking people about what's going in Gaza, and what's happened in Qatar, for good reason.
-
Even Trump is talking more sense than you over the Qatar bombing, acknowledging that it doesn't advance either US or Israeli interests. Or to put it another way, that it was a stupid idea.
