You and others on here have being saying that for ages. I think that's because you hope that to be the case. The reality is that they have more troops than Ukraine, and more weapons. The west have depleted their stocks to supply Ukraine, whereas Iran, North Korea, probably South Africa, and goodness knows who else are supplying Russia with what it needs. This is not a war that Ukraine can win on the battlefield. It'll only end by negotiation, it always does.

I haven't read anywhere what this far left french alliance actually stand for but I gather it's a mixture of progressives so it may not be particularly settled on policy. As an outsider, I have no idea whether they'll be good, bad or indifferent. Regardless, they've got a a hung parliament, with no obvious coalitions, so it's gonna be a bumpy ride over there. Except a few burnt tyres here and there. The markets are bound to shit themselves too.

The highlighted part confuses me. It again questions our democracy. People can stand on whatever they choose, and people either vote for it or they don't. That can be on a single issue, or anything. Moreover, it flies in the face of your support for PR. If, for example 3% feel really strong for a pro Gaza cause, then under a 650 seat parliament, we've got 20 or so MP's sitting in parliament on that solitary issue. PR increases the prospect of singe issue getting a platform in parliament, ditto people with extreme views.
