This comes down to you and others believing a) that in reality we hold the cards in terms of whether he stays or goes, and b) that we'll let him rot in the reserves until his contract expires if he doesn't go on our terms. On a) player power wins out most of the time - the lad will have PL football and money on the table now and it's obvious he'll want it; and b) the idea that we'll force him to stay but not him play him until his contract expires (in 2 years time when he's 25) is just daft.

We're talking about playing in the PL or playing in the championship. I genuinely cannot see a situation where a player would want to play in the championship when there's a PL offering him PL football, and wages.

How do you get to £150m for that lot? If we were in the PL, maybe close to that, but once we're down we're easy pickings. As for Tella, I think he'll command a decent fee, but not the £25m that some people think we'll get. He'll want Burnley, they'll want him, they won't want to pay £25m and ultimately we'll have little choice to take what's on offer otherwise we'll be stuck with a player who doesn't want to be here.

KWP and Perraud are experienced. I'd have faith in those 2 avoiding a second yellow, especially in the full back positions. Alcaraz is a different animal, and more hot headed. If he wasn't on a yellow he'd have stayed on, but that he was on a yellow is why he was hooked rather than Ely or AA imo. There was a solid case for taking AA off at half time and shifting Alcaraz up top and out of the midfield, but people will have whinged of we'd done that anyway. Indeed, people will have whinged if he'd stayed on and got a second yellow saying they could see it coming etc. We all see it differently, but I could see the logic of what he did. Regardless, the change that killed us was Lavia going off for Diallo. We'd also have benefitted from having Mara on the bench to run the channels and stretch them a bit.

Very harsh on Notts County, but that was an amazing race to the finish. Nice to see ex saints youngster Thomas O'Connor get some glory with Wrexham, and hopefully get to play league football again.

We'll agree to differ. We needed to strengthen the defence and couldn't risk going to 10 men. I couldn't see another way of doing that.

We couldn't have gone into that 2nd half with DCC and ABK our only 2 CB's. We needed to go to a 5 - Tessem on Solent rightly made the point and gave Selles credit for the change. The issue was who to sacrifice. If it was AA people will have whinged that he took off our striker. If it was Ely, and Alcaraz then got another yellow, people will have whinged that he wasn't taken off and was an accident waiting to happen. Personally, I think he called that right. Had Alcaraz not been on a yellow, I suspect he wouldn't have gone off at the break. Sulemana and tall Paul coming on was the right call too, although arguably too late. Where he messed up tactically was Lavia off for Diallo. Absolutely pointless change at a crucial time which cost us the game, and put the nail in our PL coffin.

I didn't miss your point. Pelle worked in the system you described as he was Pelle. I don't think that Onuachu would work in that system because he's not good enough. I think Selles is using him in the right way, ie coming off the bench when what's on the pitch isn't working. As for Selles being useless, I think him, Onuachu, various other players, the ownership, the scouts, the board, are all out of their depth.
