  1. Yep. We defended well enough, but they constantly bypassed midfield which was a big part of the issue today. The full backs didn't help either by barely getting forward. I think the issue is in the instructions though, not the players.

Runs and ball winning are different things mate. If you did watch him, you'd have seen him in all sorts of positions to receive the ball. Charles spent the game covering the atrocious Downes. The difference in the last quarter was that Downes went off. There was no other midfield addition - AA and Stewart went up top.

I was in the Itchen/Chapel corner and was watching him loads.I doubt those runs would have been seen watching on the TV, or as easily from other parts of the ground. In the first half, he made loads of little runs into pockets, but the midfield didn't get hold of the ball enough to use him, ditto Archer. They weren't bust a gut runs, but enough to find space, and offer himself up for the ball. Second half, his runs were more obvious, and we had more of the ball. He didn't use it as well as he should have, but he found loads of space still. If there's a criticism, I'd have liked him to drop in and demand the ball, but with full backs sitting deep, midfielders not breaking the lines, the wingers being pressed, what would have done with the ball as he was the bloke who's job it was to link the play. With a properly functioning midfield, and centre backs who don't just welly it to a small lad up top, I think he could be really effective. He was a victim of tactics and poor performances all round today.

    Ricky Hatton RIP

Amen to that. Things like this, and my year to date, reinforce what's important. Happiness, health, friends, family, and peace of mind. Not much else really matters.

Although I'm not slating him for it, we looked terrible in the first half after switching to it. In particular, our full backs didn't get high enough up the pitch.
  6. Very sad news. Not sure of the circumstances, and hopefully it was natural causes rather than life getting too much. Regardless, he was a great character and a superb fighter. RIP.

Yep. Ball into a man who can't win it or hold it up. Lose it. Hope to win it back. Repeat. I've no idea what his midfield set up is supposed to be. Seems like the players don't either.
  8. Are you watching?
  9. Can't believe that's a serious call. Azaz is the only one moving and offering an option.
  10. We've been shocking. I don't do pies, but I've gone for a pie. Their sub keeper has passed the ball more than Downes. Only Azaz and Archer offering up for the ball. Shite.

I think you misunderstand her comparison. It's not literal. I'd hazard a guess that many of those 2 million people would prefer death to their existence.

You have no right whatsoever to say that a Jew born in the holocaust cannot make that comparison. Your views are clear. Hers I respect.

Although plenty of decent Jewish people do. Miriam Margolyes has risen from bloody irritating to bloody decent in my eyes with her comments. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMiL0mXI3kM/?igsh=MTYzdjJoYjJwb20xYQ==
  14. We need the likely starting team working the shape, not just those left behind. The point is, him playing a 3 tomorrow is not indefensible. Personally, I think it's understandable.
  15. Of course it is. We've had an international break and no opportunity to work, as a group, on a new shape.
  16. Sponsorship duties. Get in, get out.
  17. Anyways, Romsey show this morning, music in the city pm, dinner this evening. I'm out.
  18. That's your take. It's not her message as I see and hear it. Restraint is "his death shouldn't have happened, and while we should all unite, I'll carry Charlie's message". She carries the message of sadness and divide, not sadness and unity. She had a platform to promote some calm, not speak as she did the maga lot.
  19. That's a very naive take on her message. Those she's speaking to will not interpret it that way.
  20. Restraint is not using that language or tone of voice. It's provocative. Fires over there need dampening, not fuelling by grieving widows.
  21. There's nothing like using a tragedy to call for unity and respectful dialogue. Or something.

I'm out of words for the Israeli regime. The decent people get it, and the blinkered never will. The sycophant Starmer has made his bed on the wrong side of right, and won't shift unless and until Trump develops some morality. The situation in Gaza will get worse until Egypt has no choice but to take people in, and we'll see even more of that ^^^ kind of appalling behaviour in the West Bank, more illegal settlements, more outposts, more mass "arrests" and detention without charge (basically hostage taking), and the continued annexation of Palestinian land. What we're seeing is an utter disgrace.
  23. We've shifted from the pilot point, and the rights of doubting the competence of a sufficiently qualified black pilot. I remain of the view that he was out of line, but I also dislike quotas. He could have just said that the best candidates should get the gig and if they're all black, so be it, but he went a different route.
  24. People's styles change. Some play for reaction, and certain audiences. Each to their own.
  25. We're talking about the pilots as per Kirk. The standard isn't being lowered to facilitate the quota, so how can there be a doubt re the qualifications of anyone passing? I get there may be better candidates, but that doesn't render the quota appointments inadequate.
