I've not seen anyone think isolation will end it. It's going nowhere, but responsible people do their bit to help slow the spread.

Don't be obtuse. "Normal death" count is irrelevant. Its the covid deaths I referred to, you know that. Take your chances pal, but believe it or not, we're not all selfish cvnts willing to take our chances and in doing so potentially infect others.
-
What a load of ******. Your point is what exactly, just that the "best time" to get this has passed, and that like any sane person you don't want this stuff either. Well thanks for the insightful opinion. As to the "facts". There's only one relevant fact, namely that if I get this I may or may not die. I'll do what I can to avoid that if its all the same to you. Sure, the NHS may or may not be under more pressure if / when I do, but we may also know a bit more how to treat it. Today 938 people have died in the UK. Field hospitals are being built as we sit here, including one not a million miles from here. The NHS have commandeered an ice rink to site outside Portsmouth for storage purposes. Despite all that, idiots like you still suggest thay there's a benefit to getting this stuff. Perhaps, for once, dial down the nonsense and just accept that other people's right to be sensible should be respected.

Yep, whilst the scientists haven't covered themselves in glory, the Reuters report makes it clear that the government have not used the resources at its disposal. We've failed to make use of countless testing facilities, not made contact with a uk ventilator supplier, stubbornly refused to participate in discussions with the EU, and failed to join in a mass EU purchase of ventilators. To what extent the government approach flows from the nature of the scientific input its hard to say, but we've not helped ourselves that's for sure.

There's no "best time" to catch a virus that's a potential killer. I've read your comments on this matter, and I haven't got a clue what your stance is. I think you're trying to say that most of us will get it any way so carry on. Is that your point? If not, what is it?
-
Thanks for that, really interesting, and as you say there are lots of lessons to be learned.
-
No, but we have furloughed some. Better than being made redundant. They offering to pay the extra 20%?

Nobody has disputed how vaccines work. In response to my comment that I leave my shoes outside rather than walking anything in, it appeared to be suggested by the fountain of knowledge Tim that it's OK as it'd be a diluted dose and may even give a natural vaccination. If that was being said, it's fecking stupid, as none of us know what is a "safe" dose - if it was that simple we'd all be getting a vaccine in our arse. If that wasn't what was being said, feck knows what point he was trying to make.
-
By all means give a gentle lick to a covid sufferer if you feel that'll give you a natural vaccination. I'll pass thanks.
-
Indeed, but if you only get a little bit you'll be OK. Tim said so, and he knows everything.
-
Pathetic. Just because I don't share your apparent wish to catch just a bit of the virus in the hope that I don't get too infected, you think I'm a mast saboteur. Grow up mate.
-
Not at all mate. One thing I don't do is worry - it's the most futile waste of energy. Write down how many issues in your life have been solved by worry! Instead, I do what I can to help myself.
-
I'm not running through an inventory of my cleaning standards and approach. I'm happy that I'm keeping myself and my family as safe as possible. I'd rather that than pretend I'm some pseudo expert - I mean no disrespect, but you appear to believe that you have more knowledge and expertise than I suspect you do on this and any subject you discuss.
-
I take shoes off outside and leave them there and use just outside. A simple measure, and preferable to your DIY vaccination attempt.
-
So you're assuming that walking through virus droplets and transferring them to our homes presents a prospect of vaccination. I'd prefer to work on the assumption that it presents a risk of infection and act accordingly.
-
What are you basing your opinion on?
-
I'm surprised we aren't doing it. People cough outside, lands on road/pavement, stays there, people walk through it, tread it into house. I think people are underestimating how long the virus can live for.

It goes further than the "backs against wall" bit. He went on to say : "I can only speak for myself but I would have no problems whatsoever contributing any of my wages to people who are fighting this on the front line and to people who have been affected by what's happening at the minute." That suggests to me that he's up for some sort of contribution or donation, not a willingness to take a pay cut per se. Further, I'm sensing a lack of understanding of why footballers are in the firing line.

I doubt there'll be anything fair for employees across the States, just laid off or dismissed. The numbers on furlough will be eye wateringly high. Without that scheme I'd be surprised if we weren't recording close or a 7 figure job loss count. I've Just read 900k job losses in Spain.

I wander how many brits have been furloughed.

Fountains of Wayne dude has gone too. Only 52 as well.
