Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
Saint Matty 76 replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
Setting for Salisu, Bednarek, Stephens and a likely cheap back-up option is a relegation mindset. -
Forster or McCarthy, who's your No. 1 keeper this season?

Forster but they're both a bit shit and will have moments where you want the other in. -

https://www.s24su.com/forum/threads/whats-happened-with-ampadu.87132/ Their forum weren't overwhelmingly positive about him. A previously promising young player at current low stock is a market I like us working within, but I'd be disappointed after his last two years. I'd prefer us to be looking at Adarabioyo from the relegated clubs personally. -

No, the fact that he was means he was. What? -

Hope not, he was fucking useless at Sheff. -

Didn't realise Nat Phillips was 24, it'd be pretty embarrassing signing him for £15m off the back of 15 alright games for Liverpool. -
Ideally we get 18-20m for him, bring in a CB and DM, maybe another domestic loan and we're all happy.
-
Absolute madness if we don’t bring in another CDM. As mentioned above, we need another Romeu type player as JWP/Diallo/Smallbone/Armstrong all fall into the ball carrier mould rather than Romeu’s. I don’t personally rate Romeu too highly and think he can be improved upon quite easily. I hope we don’t mess this up because we look good depth wise everywhere else other than here.
-
Won't be too much more time of guessing as I'd assume/hope we'll find out if we can expect any more arrivals during the fans forum. Expecting something along the lines of 'we're always active in case a new possibility comes up' leading to no new arrivals. Hopefully someone asks directly about Delaney so I can stop getting my hopes up on that one.

Michael Obafemi - Official: Signs for Swansea
Saint Matty 76 replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
I'm a little surprised that anyone rates Obafemi based on what we've seen. Even in pre-season his touch has looked horrendous and I just don't think he's ready for this level. I'd be amazed if we managed to get around £5m for him. -
Hopefully we can sell them Obafemi for 4-5m now as well to bring the price down even more. Bring in Delaney (still helplessly optimistic on this one), a couple of domestic loans and a replacement for Vestergaard should he leave.
-
Unfortunately 90% of the population of Strikers are better than Long & Obafemi, this doesn’t mean we should be looking to buy them. Nixon seems to think JWP to Villa is still in motion.
-
I agree that he shouldn't be but he most definitely will. Same situation with the keepers unfortunately.
-
I wish it was anybody else reporting it but TalkSport saying we're looking at Oxlade-Chamberlain on loan as well.
-
As long as he's combined with an Eduoard or Armstrong then that's a fine move. Anything which pushes Long further out the door.
-
Two attacking players to replace him is absolutely what we need, similar to Villa replacing Grealish with 3 players. I'm hoping we can get Armstrong and Edouard as my first choice, but would be okay with one of them and somebody else on loan with an option. I still think we desperately need another 6 as well.
-
Madueke has 2 in 30 minutes against Ajax in the Dutch Super Cup, including an absolute worldie. I think he's way out of our league already, mind.
-
I think we like to forget how poor the teams around us also are. Watford/Norwich/Brentford have done borderline nothing and Burnley/Newcastle haven’t either. Brighton are weaker after finishing below us and Palace have a monster rebuild going on, despite looking to have done well so far. I think we’ll finish between 12th-15th, depending on us bringing in a good striker before the month closes out. Going to go with 14th.
-
Forster KWP - Bednarek - Salisu - Perraud Diallo - Romeu Armstrong - Walcott Adams - Tella Subs: McCarthy, Stephens, Livramento, Valery, Redmond, Djenepo, Obafemi I'd imagine it has to be this, with JWP in for Diallo if he's miraculously fit. Hopefully a place in the squad for Vestergaard too if he's not long gone.
-
2-0. Let's get battered and ensure some signings. Viva Athletic.
-
Maybe a stupid point but recruitment-wise winning 4 on the bounce without much issue may not have been the best thing.
-
It's just lump balls into the channel for Obafemi and Long to chase so far haha, pretty glad I didn't travel down for this one.
-
Obafemi - Long wouldn't even be an impressive Championship striker partnership.
-
Terrible at Palace, followed by a good loan spell in Turkey and a poor season in Germany.
-
I understand that some players peak late in their career. However you're implying that we should never be disappointed with a players career output because they may just randomly become good one day like Pelle did. We have every right to be disappointed in the prospect of signing a 26 year old who has had one good season throughout his career in a poor standard of football. You'd be a lot more useful to the forum if you tried to actually think rather than just looking to 'one-up' everyone.
