This team had been needing somebody to play between the lines, make runs beyond the striker and ultimately put the ball in the back of the net. He's been a little up and down since he joined (Newcastle H was excellent), but I think he's proved to be a must start if he's fit. I don't think anyone else in our team makes that run and scores that goal. Would be about our luck that he's out for 6 weeks due to a knee slide.

It's the same case as it's always been with Che, a good footballer but a damn terrible finisher. Always thought we'd benefit purely by surrounding him with better players as his chance creation is very solid.
-
I think most people would argue he shouldn't have missed the ball leaving an open goal header from 5 yards. Leicester didn't have a shot on target yesterday and Bazunu nearly gifted them two goals. It's not "gotta trash someone", it's the reality of the situation. His "ball skills and distribution" being very good is nonsense as well, he has the worst completion percentage in the entire league.

Definitely a shame to hear the boos when Elyounoussi came on, he’s nowhere near good enough but I will never question his effort. I can’t quite see what good people think that’d do. Touched the ball 25 times when he came on and gave the ball away with 11 of them, however. He doesn’t help us control a game we’re leading and he will never be key to getting us back into one we’re not. Glad to see him out the starting 11 today, at least.

He needs to figure it out for sure. Making us 20x worse every game at the minute.
-
Good for him, decent performance. Worth his place just for keeping Elyounoussi out at the very least. Saying that, think Moi will start v United for his work rate.

Brilliant from Alcaraz, the perfect run from that position and honestly something I don’t see anyone else in the team capable of producing. Hated the subs again. Constantly leaving ourselves in a position where an equaliser only leads to one team winning (i.e. Wolves). Too many players not good enough getting minutes for us. I’d just love to win a game by 2 goals, and I’d love the Northam to get some fucking belief.
-
Yeah this is my current thinking too, would it work though? Probably not!

Anyone including yourself in for Bednarek and that's my team as well. I think the bashing of Edozie is a little harsh, his end product could definitely be much better but he did also win a penalty vs Brighton and has had just 5 starts so far. I don't think he should be a guaranteed starter but I'd rather him on the pitch than a lot of our other options in the position, and he's the option I'd most like to see come off the bench at 70 minutes.

Great news. People may not believe it as it's rightfully doom and gloom right now, but a really strong crop of youngsters may have fallen at the right time to help get us back up. I'm sure he's come on a lot this season but Tella certainly did not look like a player capable of having this much of an input, so hopefully players rated higher than he was can do the same.

His movement is good, and you notice it a lot more after watching Armstrong and Mara bundle about beforehand. He was impressive when he came on vs Chelsea, and our most threatening player yesterday albeit vs weak opposition. He's looked absolutely terrible for approximately 18 months so if we're looking at him to be an answer then that's a true representation of why we're going down. I'd sooner see him start than Moi though.

Shock horror as player is tapped on the back! Could have killed him!
Saint Matty 76 replied to TheH's topic in The Saints
Yep. He also has previous in these situations with 17/18 where he was POTY I think and had a number of brilliant displays in the run in. I'd have him in for the rest of the season as well. He was pretty awful last year so we were absolutely right to try and replace, but we just somehow fucked that up and downgraded, similar to Ralph and Jones. -

He made two decent saves, one as the penalty was awarded and a one-on-one in the second half. Didn't get near either penalty but that's not really something to bash a keeper with. -
That is almost £100m worth of players in our squad and with the exception of Perraud (who I still don’t particularly rate), I wouldn’t want a single one of them in our team. Horrific.

What players will you miss, should they leave, when we go down?
Saint Matty 76 replied to Dman's topic in The Saints
I’ll miss JWP. Lavia is a brilliant footballer who’ll go to the top but I’ve had no expectation of him staying here for long, so it won’t particularly hurt. Everybody else ranges from a slight shame to a genuine cheer. -
First one for sure. I do think the second is soft but DCC was being a moron so I don't think it's one we can really moan about.
-
We all would! The issue is that we'll get neither.
-
Even after this whole season I still did not quite expect that. New lows.
-
Lyanco is one of our worst ever signings.
-
Does anybody really ever expect us to break down a team sitting back? It basically confirms the result outside of a freak moment from a dead ball.
-
Unlucky from Walcott. His positioning and movement has been good since he's come on, was actually similar to Chelsea as well when he came on there. Unfortunately this is just more minutes wasted due to how fucking slow VAR is.
-
Baffling. They barely played 60 minutes at the weekend.
-
It's literally never a penalty if we're being honest, but it's one of those ones where the defender is so fucking stupid that they deserve to be punished.
-
Had a very favourable chance to get us closer to something we can look forward to in a horrible year and they do this. The only issue is that even our relegation doesn't guarantee a clear out of a lot of these players, a handful of our squad are good enough for a move. We'll still be lumbered with these bunch of clowns.
