Clearly a panic buy, but I’m not sure we had much more available to us at the time. Players with a legitimate goalscoring pedigree were worth a punt more than someone like Mara has been. Was pleasantly surprised by his control and hold-up play, but Che is just a much better fit for this current system. I’d still like to see them play together at some point, maybe even tonight. Doesn’t help when you have a 6’7 striker and only one player on the entire pitch capable of putting in a decent cross. The lack of aerial service to him was embarrassing whenever he’s played. Questionable subs again from Selles and that should realistically be the end of the Walcott experiment. Very happy for Bazunu who finally had the game he's needed for a long while.
