Good that we got the win today and a great buzz going home tonight, but I can't help that think we make life a bit hard for ourselves and that it could have worked out a lot worse for us if west brom were a little more clinical. Not sure why we don't take more shots on - it seems to be an instruction to retain possession at the expense of taking risks, which when we've got players like sule and Charly who have a bit of magic about them is a shame. Organisationally we are so much better than we started the season and the combination of THB, Holgate and Downes in the middle seems to make us pretty robust. Not sure what is wrong with Che - despite a couple of moments of effort he didn't seem like a player who was playing to get back in the team. On the plus side Stewart looked very positive. Fair play to RM - he's certainly taking us in the right direction and has the team playing for each other right to the death. I just wish he'd be a little more ambitious in getting a second and maybe even third goal.

I wonder if the problem with manning is that we would need a more defensive RB to tuck in when he roams forward and KWP isn't that player - maybe he would play better with Bree on the right? (I'm not advocating dropping KWP btw)

Was Che Adams playing for a transfer?

Who will want him though? - Questionable attitude - Poor scoring record (in premier league) - Not very effective by himself Doesn't strike me as a particularly desirable set of attributes. -
Fair point. I've been heavily critical of him previously but today he played very well indeed.

Good stuff. Much more positive for most of the game - really need to do something about the dodgy spells though. Smallbone poor again for me - good when he actually plays the ball forward but a passenger without the ball and too many lazy backward passes. Flynn Downes and KWP were absolutely tremendous.

Let's not forget he promised us interesting football and has completely failed to deliver and has been far too chippy about the criticism from fans. If the team play consistently with purpose and he stops making bizarre excuses about scar tissue and it being the fans fault then maybe he'll start to win people over. Like NJ he seems to think he's got a god given right to all of the fans being onside rather than earning it.

I think it's more than this. If we are going to be serious contenders then we have to be better than most of the teams in the league; better than some by a small margin and better than a lot by a bigger margin. At the moment our results show we're barely better than some fairly average sides and a little better than some very poor ones.

Can't sniff at grinding out an away win even if the football wasn't brilliant. Hopefully we'll take some confidence from that.

You'd think Martin could spare some snake oil from his hair to cure the scars??

Frankly I could give a flying fuck who you are, really quite a bizarre response... What I am interested in is why you think we should blindly trust and enjoy a process that isn't working and isn't particularly enjoyable? Yes 7/9 points from the last 3, but get out of the micro view and look at the macro one it is quite a pathetic return so far this season considering we've categorically stated we're aiming for promotion and we are playing some of the dullest football we've played for some time. -

Is courage letting your team let the opposition slide through the midfield without putting in a tackle and not reacting to it? Or perhaps it is changing a winning team by putting someone in the team who can't be arsed and then only substituting them with 5 mins to go? Or perhaps blindly sticking to a losing formula with the hope that it might come right eventually when everyone else can see it is fundamentally flawed? You call it courage... I call it incompetence -

I really don't understand the value in a striker who cant score a header or a scabby goal from 5 yards. Che was a waste of a shirt for most of the game (again). I'm not sure he's solely to blame for the goal though. The lack of aggression from midfield allowed them the space to score, baz may have looked out of position but an aggressive (brave?) midfield doesn't concede that goal. -

Did I say that? I see understanding is a bit difficult so I'll spell it out l for you... My point is what's the point in playing someone who can't be bothered to put the effort in? Without Adams (or a CF for that matter) we've won 2 on the bounce. When he has played he's been at best in 2nd gear. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong, but I'll be very surprised if he does. -

Can't see how a half arsed Adams helps??? -

Wtf has Adams done to deserve a recall? -
Maybe Russ sees a bit of passion and effort? To me Che has been going through the motions since the window closed.

Good game especially considering the last few weeks. Certainly some things to build on: - Adam Armstrong seems to be responding to a good run in the side and looks confident and composed (things I never thought I'd say) - sulemana was decent and his pace was a constant threat - formation seemed to help us - baz had a good game particularly with distribution - the defense looked a lot more solid There are still some areas that need work: - the second half wasn't particularly great we seemed to lose our way a bit - Smallbone can't tackle and didn't have a particularly good game other than his goal which was exceptional - Bednarek moved his body out of the way of their goal - Bree and Aribo are a complete waste of time - Adams offers very little energy - Charles' passing is a bit suspect - Frazer's positioning meant we were forced back more than we should have been All in all a good day to be a saint!
-
Listening to the presser it seems that RM is committing to a better performance with more intensity, that training has gone well, etc - if it's more of the same this week then he's just full of hot air and should go without delay.
-
Can I have some of what you're smoking??? We're going to get smashed We are terrible and sadly we're not getting better anytime soon
-
In reality means it will be more like... Baz Kwp Charles Holgate Manning Downes smallbone Armstrong aribo Frazer Adams Poncing about aplenty, sideways and backward passing and gifting the ball to Leeds at every opportunity. Far too much scar tissue.... needed to be brave..... fans didn't help..... proud of the team..... 0-10 Leeds
-
Let's not forget that we are treated like customers rather than fans despite the fact that the fans and the community are the fabric of the club.
-
I said it before the game switch to a proper 4-2-3-1 with the right players... Baz in goal, defense picks itself. Shea to hold and Downes to play the box to box role. Pick the best 3 attacking miss either play alcarez in the middle and stu and Edozie in the other wide positions or play stu in the middle with Arma or Frazer and Edozie. Press properly from the front and move the ball quickly when in possession. But most importantly put a fucking shift in - when you lose the ball you work twice as hard to get it back. It's not exactly rocket science. 1 last point never ever put aribo in a saints shirt again.
-
Sack him now. 4 in a row for "automatic promotion hopefuls" - simply not good enough.
-
He might be saying some of the right things (plus some deluded things too), but his body language says it all. He's showing all the signs of feeling the pressure and to be honest it looks like the wheels are starting to come off already. He needs a plan B but only has a Janny B

The idea of our players trying to play total football as per 70s Holland is utterly hilarious 😂 they can't play in their own positions properly let alone anyone elses 😂😂
