Reading these threads, Alpine DOES make the most sense and I agree with his sentiments.

I got it right first when we appointed George Burley, as some of you might remember. That was because a little bird in Suffolk told me. I have no links at all this time around.

I am going to be positive. We could be on the verge of a new and exciting era with a high class and high profile manager. The next few weeks are crucial.

O'Neill. We have to see this as an opportunity to get a really first class manager into the club. A big hitter with ambition. A manager that will command immediate respect from the club. A big name manager that will attract big name players.

Calm down. I will tell you truthfully, I would be very surprised if Hoddle was offered or even wanted the job. However, we need a big name manager, i would hate to make the same mistake as we did in 2004 when we appointed Sturrock !

Did we ever really know why WGS left ? Have the full details of why GH was not appointed ever been revealed ? Do we know for sure why Sturrock was sacked ? Ther are lots of unanswered questions surrounding SFC, the AP sacking now joins the list.

Totally agree with this statement. Sturrock failed because he did NOT have the respect of the players. From the off , they had no confidence in him and they did not play for him. When Strachan came he had the complete respect of the players and so did Hoddle when he came.

With a good manager we can still get to the playoffs and get promoted...the hard way.

If i could then we would see the appointment of Glenn Hoddle and Lowe and the board wouold have the strength to ignore the vocal minority. The sorry chain of events leading to our decline would never have started.
