I never said there should be a protest and the hankie idea is stupid. No one will be doing it. Of course I know that Adkins won't be reinstated, everyone knows that but that doesn't mean fans shouldn't show their appreciation for he has done for us and not be so crass as to assume that just because he would have got a pay off, it somehow means that Adkins doesn't deserve the fans support in this.

Maybe he'll turn to Lee Barnard to aggressively press the oppo back line?

And you know that for sure do you? In anycase, why is the money important? Adkins was a proud man who believed in his own convictions who now has an undeserved sacking on his "impeccable" CV. This will have hurt him professionaly and no amount of fans attempt to sweep it under the carpet will change that.

DPS, can't see anything wrote on this thread which was controversial based on what was known at the time. Adkins had watched Mayuka and Yoshida but it now sounds like he may have pressed for different options which he didn't get. All our signings are committee signings but it seems like Adkins didn't get his way with a CB and NC didn't get his way with a keeper.

I agree he needs to get a fair crack of the whip. However, just as I had a really good feeling about Adkins appointment I have my reservations about this one. I hope I'm wrong but at this stage of the season he has no room for error and there are as many things stacked against him then for him. IMO of course

So the positions developed at academy level is the issue of the first team manager now? Adkins had integrated Shaw brilliantly and was also a big advocate of JWP and Ben Reeves. If the plan is to swamp our first team with academy players then we are in trouble. Giving debuts to 23 academy players sounds sounds desperate

From everything I've read on him, I can't see what he'll bring to the table which Adkins doesn't have.

Back to back promotions, highest win % of ANY Southampton manager who had a whole stadium singing his name when he needed it most. All gone just like that. What we as fans had here with Adkins was special IMO. It doesn't make people irrational or not sensible when they base their reaction on feelings which last longer than a 24 hour window.

I saw MLG on twitter today suggesting that Adkins could have done better after being the 7th best backed manager financially in Europe. All after spending the last few months on here defending our transfers. I have no respect for that at all.

If you were to ask MLG yesterday his opinion on sacking Adkins and replacing him with MP before the story broke, what would have been his reply you think? That it may be good and take us to the next level? I think not so please don't talk to me about pragmatism.
