Christ, forgot about O'Halloran. Whatever anyone says, he was signed as a promotional move for the up-coming U21 friendly we were hosting. It was no surprise to see his face used in the posters. Harsh on Belmadi Colin..? He was outstanding for us when he played, but that was the problem - we didn't see enough of him. But when he did play he was often a class above.

Doubt there's much in that...! -
Bit harsh on Sarimento as he barley played for us, so you can't really make a judgement. To be fair, in the one cup game I watched him in he looked quite handy with the ball....but that's all we saw. I'd have Phil Ifil in at RB in place of James, but the CB's are fair. Can't really argue with LB either.. So... Kevin Miller Phil Ifil Lancashire (could have easily been Liptak...) Bennett Molyneux Thomson Euell Ryan Smith Jordan Robertson Peckart Patterson Manager - The dutch duo.

He's done a good job at Newcastle, and he doesn't deserve any criticism from us regarding his time here. He built the base here and allowed us to push on from that, and for that I'll always be grateful. Adkins has taken us on, but Pardew started the journey.

To be honest, what happened to us needed to happen. We may have kept bumping along in the PL for a while, but eventually we'd have been relegated. We'd still have the stadium debt over our heads, a listed company on the stock exchange, directors and share holders fighting and disagreeing over the running of the club. Going down has allowed us to rid of all the crap. From the players through to the debt and to the management/directors. It's enabled us to have a fresh start and kind of rebuild this club from new. I'm with most when they say the last 3 years have been awesome. They've been the best of my Saints supporting life, that's for sure - but it's given us a bright future as well.....
-
To be fair, I don't think we really have any deadwood at our club these days. Forecast and Forte are probably the only 2 you could state as current dead wood. Everyone else played a part at some stage this season, fair enough - certain players may struggle next season, but it's a bit harsh to say they're dead wood already.

He's the guy we snapped up from MK Dons, and I believe he's replaced David Burke in the role of head of recruitment - or similar.

Season Tickets 'how many will we sell next season'
S-Clarke replied to djharvey's topic in The Saints
It really depends on how the club price it. They could keep it affordable and easily sell 23/24k, but if they give everyone massive increases in price then I'd imagine it will be below 20k. Last seasons prices weren't too bad, and it was thought that they would be through the roof - so I think we'll be competitively priced next year. -

Leicester are looking to bring in Southampton winger/striker Guly Do Prado for £3.5 million. (ok...it's come from football rumours so it's not true, but the price is hilarious.) -
Yep, true. http://www.soccer-blogger.com/2012/04/18/lasse-schone-ajax-nec-midfielder-joins-on-free-transfer/ no idea who it is we're looking at then! probably someone that hasn't even crossed our minds.
-
Lasse Schone? a 25 year old Attacking goal scoring central midfielder who plays for NEC. I've noticed his name crop up on a couple of 'rumour sites'. Out of contract in the summer I believe.
-
He'll be down to the bare bones f'sure.

According to reports all over Spain today, a £25-30m fee has been agreed with Spurs to take him to the Nou Camp. Such a shame we don't benefit from this at all....
-
at home, Live on sky Super Sunday against Arsenal We beat them 2-1 with a goal in the last minute, after being battered for the majority of the game.
-
Would agree with that, although exceptions seem a bit skewed on this thread. With our current squad as it is with no additions we would struggle, just as we struggled at places like Blackpool, Cardiff and M'boro......times that by 1000. We will add though, that's obvious, but still...if we stay up next year I'd take that. Then progress further the year after.
-
Don't get me wrong, it's a great facility. - But all this development does is bring us up to standard with the likes of Stoke, Villa, Everton etc. To be fair, Villa's is much more impressive than ours.
-
Newcastle are a bit of a poor example to use to be honest. They were relegated with some excellent players in their team, and I was surprised they managed to keep hold of Collocini, Gutierez, Enrique etc.... They came back up with a better manager who was able to get the true potential out of those players, and they've built on that. We don't have those level of players as a start-base, so what Newcastle did isn't going to occur to us anytime soon.

I do think it's very short sighted to come to the conclusion that a player is not good enough, based on 1 or 2 games you may have seen in the past. In the same way it's also short sighted to say a player is a world beater, just based on 1 or 2 games we've watched. At the end of the day the scouts are in the best position to judge, as they've watched the players many more times than any of us and will have a better all-round picture of the player. So if we do sign Lee Camp, you can be assured that some thorough scouting has gone into it before we even contemplate a bid. -

Have heard snippets on twitter that he's available for £1m. He'd add quality competition without ousting Davis straight away, so I can see some mileage in it. -

John Voysey @brummieagent Phone hasn't stopped ringing this morning concerning #Wolves striker #StevenFletcher who looks dead cert to depart for #Saints. #Wolveswoe John Voysey @brummieagent PL new boys Southampton are interested in #DCFC Player of the Season Craig Bryson, and are willing to shell out £1m for the Scot #SFC -
I would be stunned if he's not occupying one of the spaces. He's our captain and has been a huge reason why we've risen through the leagues in the last 2 years. He will play a role next season for sure, I am pretty much certain of that.
-
So the same would happen to us wouldn't it? From Northam to Kings Road.......not a tough call either! To be fair, I've also read that Newcastle doubled his contract wage....but he still snubbed it.
-
Danny Simpson is one of Newcastles better players. He's been a regular for them this season in their fight for Champions League football. Chelsea, who are below Newcastle, have sounded out his agent and thus meaning Danny Simpson has rejected Newcastles contract. If Newcastle can't keep hold of one of their decent players when on the cusp of CL football, then we'd stand no chance in hell.
-
Yep, spot on. That won't go down well with a few people...but it's the sensible way of doing it.

He was alright for us, but I don't think he's the sort of midfielder we need. He's similar to Cork, Morgan, Hammond etc. He scores goals occasionally, but in the last few years he's adjusted to being a central midfield player who rarely gets forward. We won't get Sigurdson, but that's the sort of midfielder we need. Someone who can take the ball in the middle of the park and move forward into the box....and score goals!!
