It's the same plan that HelpMeRhonda drafted up a few years ago, it included a fairground and water park.

The fact that you're resorting to remarks says it all.

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition
S-Clarke replied to Jimmy_D's topic in The Saints
Di Santo is an odd one, I think he's got great technique but is not a natrual finisher. 6 goals this year equals his best ever goal scoring season, which says it all. Not sure where you could play him to be honest...as a winger? -
This thread is going from mental to insane. No one knows what will happen in 10/20 years time, but in the short-term - which is what most of us are trying to say - we will be no where near the top 4, no where near. There's ambition and there's realism. For us to be in the top 4 in the short term we will need to get ourselves into the ****, which we won't be able to do anyway with the FPP. We're not big enough to generate the income to compete at the level with Newcastle, Everton, Liverpool etc. Give it a couple of decades of sustained premiership football, and our good young players coming through the system, then we may have a different debate. It's just insane to even contemplate it now. First and foremost we stay in the league next year, that's the target and should be the target. Anything else above bottom half mid-table is a bonus as far as I'm concerned and will equal a great season. Steady as she goes etc...

He's pants, can't stand him. He played there with Derby didn't he? and scored all of 1 goal, brilliant. Pretty useless player and not worth the big wage he supposedly demands.
-
As long as he gets the service, he will continue to score goals. He's a goal scorer, he has that knack, and that doesn't disapear at whatever level you play.
-
He's been **** for a while now. He was outclassed in the middle by Noble and Nolan, don't think he'd massively improve us if I'm honest. and WHU have this sewn up as long as they turn up in the final, I cannot see past them. They've got momentum, the better players and the confidence. If they don't join us then it's a royal cockup in the final.

They're neat and tidy, but pretty useless in the final third. If they could get themselves a proper centre forward in the summer that could hit them 20 goals, they'd be laughing. Blackburn though, holy ****. What a pile of dross. -
Unless someone invests half a billion in players, then it won't happen. Whatever happens, it's not a short-term goal. Long-term...who knows, and we're talking decades time.

"Congratulations to Cardiff on another successful campaign in their annual battle against promotion."
-
I don't think they've necessarily been dreadful, West ham are simply too good for them. They look a league apart, and there's not much Cardiff can do.
-
2-0 now. They're just too good for Cardiff, nothing much they can do. They're too strong, physical and powerful. They just need to keep the score down now, bit annoying cause I wanted this to be a bit of a contest but it's going to be a pretty dross 45mins.

To be fair, we kind of have something similar hanging off of the TV Gantry - 'Together we stand'
-
We don't really. We're owend by the Estate of Markus, there is some funding there to use, but we're not really run by billionaires. We are being run sustainably with the long-term ambition of fielding our youth team prospects. I wouldn't have thought it's ever been in the remit to spend £50m on players.

True. I hope we find better imports than Steve though! -
Not at all......have you seen how much Villa spunked on players to scrape a top 6 finish? Have you seen what Man City are paying to achieve what they have? Look at what Liverpool have spunked to get near a top 8 finish. Newcastle also pay 60k p/w wages and spent £11m on a striker. When we start doing that, then we can start aiming high. Unfortunately without massive investment we will doddle around in mid-table. There's no getting away from that, and I've not seen any evidence that we will start to spend beyond our means - as that's what we'll need to do. I'm not sure why people seem to think we're going to turn into this mega club in a year or 2?

If's a tricky one, you don't want to fill your squad with relegated players - but the relegated teams do have some gems in them. I still think the best approach is to sign the best young players from the league(s) below- Rhodes, Phillips, Ince, Rodriquez, Trippier, Kasper.. -

Davis will start for us next year and he deserves a 2nd crack in the premier league. I expect we'll sign a younger keeper who has the potential to take over Davis in a year or so, someone who doesn't have the nerves of Bart...! -
That's not what he said at all? If Nicola's ambition is for us to be in the top 4, then he will need to invest insane amounts of money in the short-term to get us there. If he does that then we can get excited. If he wants us to be sustainable, which I think we all believe is the case, then we will not achieve that. Consolidation, sustainability and mid-table premiership seasons is probably about us far as we can go without massive investment. I don't think that's lacking ambition, I think it's being pretty much realistic and the people who are dreaming of Top 4 are just setting themselves up for a fall. Next year will not be as easy as some are anticipating.
-
Calm down. I have a feeling you'll be a very frustrated fan in the coming years.
-
Absolutely spot on.
-
No disrepect, but the people who think we'll be in the champions league in the short-term are ridiclous. 'Imagine a team' is exactly it...we have to imagine it, because we sold them all as bigger clubs tempt them away. That won't change in the premier league, although we may be able to keep hold of them a year longer. We are talking decades if we're relying on our youth players to come through and propel us onto the next level, in the short-term we'd need to spend 50-100m - which we will not do. If other fans were reading this they'd be laughing their socks off, it's embarrassing. We've just come up from the Championship. Calm down people.

So no club event to celebrate the season that is open to all then?
