  1. Played on the left side of a midfield diamond. Put himself about a bit, and was probably brought on to give the team shape a little more balance in the closing stages. Didn't do much wrong.
  2. He's like a newer and improved version of Jaidi. But TBF he's pretty tidy on the ground. His touch is incredibly sound.
  3. Easy decision. He seems to absolutely love it here, He's settled in really well and most importantly looks to be a terrific centre back. He's so strong...and he's not going to get test more physical than the one he had tonight against Carew.
  4. Real tricky one tonight to be honest. Lots of great performances from Deano, Chappers, Fox, Fonte, Jos.... But I'll give it to Jos simply on the fact that he scored the winner. He didn't miss a header all night at the other end either. Pretty immense from him to say the least.
  5. WHU fans will not put up with football like that, or should i say a complete lack of football from them. They put us under pressure with constant long balls into Carew, but Jos had him covered most of the evening - he was absolutely superb alongside Fonte. I thought WHU were dull, not much to them at all. They didn't have much spark, pace or any real quality - it was just a lump up top, let a big guy get his head on it and then scuffle around for the loose bits. We dealt with it pretty confortably most of the night to be honest. They didn't allow us the freedom to play as other teams have, which was to be expected, but we still did play some great stuff when we had the chance. Chappers was terrific, so much drive and energy. He's totally left his Preston days behind him and is back to the play that West Brom paid £2.5m for. Quality. I thought Fox was terrific too, I knew it would happen...a few months under Adkins and co and his defensive lapses will be gone, as we've seen. But we've still retained his quality crossing and his neat ability on the ball, well worth the money on that showing. Overall I'd say we just about edged it, but it was a close game - 2 pretty close sides in all honesty, and I didn't think I'd be saying that 12 months ago. I also didn't think I'd see us 5 points clear at the top of the flaming Championship. Amazing start, although I think the start is over now...and this is turning into what could be an amazing season.
  6. He's always looked decent when he's come on. To be honest I thought he'd be a regular by now, but all credit to Guly that he's still having to bide his time. He does worry defenders though and he's always winning fouls as that's the only way they can stop him. Very tricky, fast etc, but can sometimes make the wrong choices (will get better with game time I'm sure)
  7. Forgot they have Almunia! Lots of corners swung towards the GK please...
  8. I've been very impressed by him. He's so strong and uses his strength very well. He can be a little casual in his distribution, but in terms of his reading of the game and his general positioning it's been faultless. Fonte has gone up a level after playing alongside him too, we look much more solid as he will win most things in the air.
  9. It was a great watch. We really aren't a flash in the pan, this isn't the ''momentum'' from last year carrying on. This is how good we actually are and it's going to be a fun season. How some of you overseas guys saw us play yesterday is how we play most weeks. It's a joy to watch.
  10. Really looking forward to this. It kind of reminds me of the Birmingham game years ago (2006 playoffs)...real anticipation as we're facing a team with real top quality. Brum were very very good that year and had a very talented squad of players (Bendtner, Seb Laarson for e.g). Similar to what WHU have at their disposal this year. By all accounts, reading their forums their 4-0 win wasn't as ''easy'' as it sounded. It was more down to Blackpool not defending at key moments, they had alot of the game and had them on the ropes apparently. They're definitely beatable and our lads are going to be right up for this. So much at stake for either team...we win, we go 5 points clear at the top (amazing..!!) they win...they go top etc.
  11. With ease TBF it looks like he's played at this level all his life. I bet there are plenty of clubs kicking themselves they never took the ''relativity'' cheap gamble to get him before we did. lol @ Huddersfield for e.g.
  12. Alpine you are totally and utterly alone in your opinions on this thread. Not sure what you're trying to achieve here.
  13. I reckon it'll be a score draw. I think we'll be surprised at how close both teams are when we play on Tuesday.
  14. ''We're coming for you, we're coming for youuu, you dirty scummers, we're coming for you'' Not very original skates...
  15. I struggled to get 2 tickets anywhere on Thursday, so I'd be surprised if it doesn't sell out.
  16. Absolutely, it's a start beyond anyone's widest dreams. Which is why Apline's comments are creating such a reaction, which TBF is probably what he wants as he's just a troll.
  17. They look totally **** tbf, a really poor team. No flow to the game, no real pace. Only player with any spark about him is that Butterflied lad, and he's been a bit wasteful at times. Still annoys me how all the pundits keep going on about their ''brilliant support'' and ''great atmosphere'' making it a ''unique club''. They've got neither and they're just your bog standard lower league club.
  18. He's always been a midfield from what I read (and FM ) I'd imagine he's playing in an AMC role.
  19. and I also find it quite crazy that people expect us to be beating teams in the top 10, even though we've just been promoted. We weren't going to win every flaming week. There is nothing to moan about in terms of being a Saints fan at the mo, it's just fantastic to watch and to still see us top of the league. That's not the be all and end all for me, a top 6 finish would be a fantastic return to the championship. Let's not all get ahead of over selves.
  20. There's no apparently about it, I find it really irritating how you seem to belittling peoples opinions which were gleaned from WATCHING the game. Why one earth didn't you?
  21. Yep thanks for the link guys - worked really well (the web based one was the best option for me) Pretty clear too.
  22. Those stats are a fair reflection from what I saw. From 20mins onwards we dominated the ball and used is so well. Lambert was a constant thorn in their side and looks so at ease in the championship which is great to see. Also thought Fonte was an absolute beast today, he won most in the air when they punted it long.
  23. FT - Great performance that. Really tough ground to go to this season, not many have got anything there. We battered them pretty much, should have won it but we couldn't get passed the players on their goal line! There's nothing wrong with our form at the mo, we might not be winning every week (we wouldn't have kept that going all season) but we're still creating **** loads of chances. I think you start to worry if you stop creating chances....but we are constantly at it.
  24. jesus, another great chance. Derby defender blocks it...
  25. Lambert yes! Great finish....we can win this from here. From all the work derby have put in defending, they will be absolutely ruined.
