  1. Sharp is a very injury prone player.
  2. Lambo looks like a different player from the guy who started last season. Really slim.
  3. Yep, headed it into the ground...and it bounced up over the bar. Great chance. He did alright today, couple of dodgy moments on the deck but I honestly wasn't worried with him in the team. Think back to the likes Bennett and Makin as a CB partnership and then you realise how lucky we are now! He's still young, still learning and it wasn't a ''massive'' test for him today, although I think he'll hold is own up against the big strikers of this league as he's terrific in the air. It's a great story though, playing for a local team in Eastleigh and 18months or so later playing in front of sky cameras in the championship for Southampton. Shows all players in these little local teams that anything is possible.
  4. It was a terrific start. It shows what momentum can do to a club, and we just have to make sure we keep this momentum going as long as we can. I didn't think there was a stand out player (although lallana was class) - it was more of a team effort. Everyone working their socks off for each other, closing down, not letting the likes of Gradel and Snodgrass have any time on the ball - and without those two, Leeds were truly toothless. We had a really good game plan today, were solid defensively but did overplay it at times in and around the back - a couple of moments for Martin in particular. But I don't really have many complaints at him, he's a great talent. In the air he was dominant and he reads the game very well. Gets caught out at times by pace and nimble strikers....but I think he's a terrific talent and will be a real asset in the future for sure. Lambo was also good today, he didn't grab the headlines with the goals...but his hold up play, positioning off Connolly was terrific at times - that little ball for Lallana's goal was perfect, and it shows what you can achieve when players have that understanding after having played with each other for years. Still - it's only 1 game, only the start. We will lose games this season, and concede goals. We'll be up...and down, but I'm confident that we'll be in and around where we want to be come the end of the season.
  5. woohoo we're above the skates. First time in years...!
  6. You won't get an answer, they come out with big statements like this and then scurry away, never backing it up with any substance.
  7. Ok - apart from that, I'm pretty sure he's been right about things in the past.
  8. This thread is the biggest backtrack in the history of this forum. It was started off by moaning about all NC has done wrong, and ends with the same poster saying he likes him, he likes what he's done and now the thread title has been changed to include a ''to''. That's what happens when you have weak points!
  9. He's been right about things in the past. Hope it's true!!!!
  10. Interesting, Solent are usually pretty much bang-on when they make statements like they did though. Maybe he was there till 5pm, and backtracked late in the evening and decided it wasn't for him? Would be surprised, but delighted, if it happens now.
  11. I agree with that, would have thought Eagles could have demanded around £3m on his own. If this is true I can see the money being offered very attractive to Burnley.
  12. I don't think Cork had much of a choice, we were the only club in for him. I'm pretty sure that he'd have gone to Burnley if they made an acceptable bid, he was settled up there with his life - but luckily we were the only ones to agree with chelsea, and the rest is history.
  13. Bring back Dexter!
  14. Would you prefer he upped and left, the Liebherr's sold the club on, and we ended up being owned by Pinnacle, or a hedge fund? I'm astonished by people who cannot see what a lucky position we're in at the moment. Have a quick search across other teams forums and you'll start to realise what I mean.
  15. And all of your points are flawed by the way, but don't let that get in the way of a good Cortese bashing. I believe some people are desperate for things to start going tits up, just so they can justify their outlandish views. This forum represents quite a small % of the fan base, and I'd be inclined to believe that these guys are in the minority.
  16. There's already a thread for a cortese-*****fest, we don't need another one.
  17. Looks like this was the ''massive bid for players'' that was alluded too. We def. are actively looking for a striker too, and only top class championship ones by the looks of it.
  18. kilgallon? another left sided cb...
  19. He's been injured on and off for the past 18 months, would be a big gamble. Would only really look at a loan deal myself.
  20. Good old taxi driver rumours! Gorrks deal doesn't look like happening, he wants to stay at QPR - confirmed by solent.
  21. He was replaced last season by that new bald fella
  22. Mills is still here, PNE went for a free transfer LB instead iirc.
  23. Not Gorrks by the sounds of it
  24. Yep, agreed. Saw better football played by us/Hudders and P'boro last season tbh.
  25. Possibly. In a way you can understand him, he's worked all his career to get into the premiership - if I was him i'd want to try and give it a crack, he might never get another chance. I think he'd have wanted a massive wedge to drop down again.
