Huddersfield vs Carlisle JPT tonight
S-Clarke replied to for_heaven's_Saint's topic in General Sports
Let's hope that result demoralises Hudders a bit and affects their league form...bet they're gutted at not getting to Wembley. Nice to see Carlisle get another shot too. Pretty even final, can't really call it - 2 similar sides in Brentford and Carlisle. -

88mins Huddersfield 3-0 Carlisle they're battering them...wonder if Carlisle can hang on -
I'm going to throw my 2 pence into this debate. I think there are rights and wrongs from both sides – neither party is perfect in the way they are acting. I have felt for a while that there is a feeling of ''bitterness'' from a few of our ex-players/managers with regards to their lost ''access'' and lost ''perks''. When Cortese came into the club himself and Markus made a pledge that no one will be offered perks, everyone will be equal and you'll have to pay for your ticket the same as everyone else. Nicola and Markus stuck by this and purchased their own season tickets and through this method I believe a few people lost the access they once had. The communication regarding this could have probably been done better and by doing it the way he has done, Cortese has rubbed a few noses up the wrong way, It should have been initiated better before letting it get to this stage - communication has been one of my main gripes with Cortese. I must say though that some of the recent comments from Benali in particular are pretty poor and show a complete lack of professionalism and they have surprised me. I know that they have the best wishes of the club at heart and I'll never forget what they've all contributed to our history, but I don't believe they warrant perks and the use of the clubs name and brand where and when they want. We're being run as a professional structure and Cortese holds a lot of pride in the brand and the name of Southampton around the world - which I think we should be very grateful for; some owners wouldn't give a damn. I don't think Cortese is ignoring our history, I believe he's trying to accelerate our future. There have been many a year where we have all lived in the past at what once was and I felt this held us back. We have a very forward thinking chairman and I think that needs to be applauded rather than criticized. It's sad to see that it's come to this but our ex-guys need to realise that we're moving forward very quickly now - their impact on Southampton will never be forgotten but we cannot continue to live in the past. It's time to create a new history.

Surprised Mackail-Smith didn't get in that team though.
-
He's already rubbished any takeover stuff in the big interview he did with the BBC a few months ago. This will be ignored by Cortese because it is complete rubbish. He's definitely true to his word.
-
Agree, maybe even slightly less. It's going to be very close for 2nd right up until the last week. Will probably go down to the last game. Not sure I can take that!!
-
Well we were quoted with an interest, Adkins didn't deny it when asked - so I wouldn't be surprised. But those offers are a bit of an insult to P'boro and the player. He's worth well over £1m - closer to £2m
-
Ah well - shame. I like him as a manager, he'll get back in job very soon. Rumours are floating around that Gus at Brighton is a target....would be great for us.
-
One massive plus we have in these up-coming games is the return of Lallana. We're a weaker team without him, so our chances of winning increase as soon as he's back in the team. He can be totally unplayable at this level.

Bit of a joke sacking, again. What do WBA expect this year.....? Bit like Newcastle sacking Hughton. WBA may be in slight free-fall at the mo, but they still haven't been in the bottom 3 all year.

I've lost complete interest in England tbh. I find that internationals now irritate me more than anything as they disrupt the club schedule. We just don't have enough technical players to make us a threat to the biggest nations.
-
Funnily enough there was a thread very similar to this on Huddersfields forum after we beat them. ''Time for Smithies to be dropped?'' I think. Shows how fickle football is.

and the person he interviewed before that was Lawrie too. -

I have a feeling people are string again. Bitter people in the background. A few names come to mind. -
We could do with them losing a few too.
-
I think Jaidi would have been slaughtered by Mackail-Smith tonight.
-
He had a poor game, but he's not a bad defender really. Unfortunately some people will not change their views on him and he'll always be seen as awful by them. He's not wanted by teams in the Championship because he's poor.

I'll call the Taxi.
-
There will be a few frustrating results within that block, but we'll win our fair few I'm sure. We just have to hope that the Bournemouths and Brightons stop flaming well winning!

His reaction and attitude to Chaplow was totally unprofessional and respect to Chaplow for just turning away and ignoring it. I think we could all lip read to work out what he was saying to him. His stint at Preston proved that he is a pretty limited lower league manager destined for nothing much at all.
-
Forte has to go, he had long enough to prove himself. Missed a complete sitter from right in front of goal to add to it all.
-
Nah, he's just a rambling moron. I've kind of got used to his pathetic posts. Look back at his history, most of the stuff makes you cringe.
-
I thought the same myself. Would have given 4 at the very very most. Fergie time.
-
Well said Deppo.

I'm not sure this was a Morgan game, I don't think he would have made a massive difference. Our midfield was pretty good I felt, but it was just a freak game. You get them I guess. We should have known what to expect when looking at today's results!
