  1. they're withholding their TV money, to pay the debts owed to clubs regarding transfers (watford for e.g.)
  2. PNE have Trotman back, St Ledger back and they are tied to a deal to make Neil Collins loan move from Sunderland perm. this month. ...then they've also got Chilvers...Mawenne.... he'd be silly to go there, he'd be fighting from day 1 - he would walk into our team from day 1.
  3. Just found out some more info on him ...(wiki can be useful sometimes) ''When Ward was brought into the first team for west ham, for the 1-3 loss against Reading on 12 March 2005, the club were lying outside of even the playoff places and looked unlikely to make it back to the Premiership, a position that was perceived by many to be a major underachievement. The pairing of Ward and Ferdinand brought a level of confidence to the team that had been missing for the first part of the season and, perhaps because of this, the team went unbeaten for the rest of the season. This unbeaten run included the three playoff games, thus ensuring their return to the Premiership for the following season.'' ''His performances for Coventry (2 seasons ago) have attracted significant interest from Charlton Athletic and Fulham, or even a move back to former club West Ham for reported £2.5 million fees.'' This could be an absolute steal...
  4. More cov views - ''Elliott Ward is a good player, he would get into most teams if he was prepared to do what was asked. He is very talented, but he forgets he is a centre back and sometimes worries too much about tryingto be fancy than actually defending. I always describe him as a poor rio ferdinand (west ham days). Coleman told Ward when he came in that he wanted him to concentrate on being a defender, and stop the fancy play and trying to take people on, but he didn't listen and it cost him his place. If he'd have listened, he'd be a quality player and nt just a good player.'' sounds to me like he is the ''ball playing CB'' that we've been crying out for (he may need to tone down a bit though....)....but it would leave Jaidi to do the dirty work and heading...
  5. Apparently Ward is traveling down for a medical and to discuss terms tomorrow - the only worry is the imminent weather issues.... if it doesn't happen though, don't blame me! only passing on snippets of what I've heard.
  6. Tilson i think (or indirectly anyway) - it's in one of the southend echo's from before christmas.
  7. He's avaliable for 200-250k, i'd be shocked if we weren't interested at that price.
  8. the highlight for me was his crossfield balls to Kosowski....that's about all he did.
  9. sorry, but that is probably the most ridiculous thing i've ever read on here....and that takes some doing.
  10. More info on Elliott from a Cov fan - ''the rumour is he's on alot of money at are place and has had a spat with coleman he's certain to go somewhere in the next few months, but not trying to be a WUM or anything he is too good for League 1 and i would have thought he would join another championship team, i'm not certain how you lot are getting on this year but if you got promoted i could see it happening. P.S Visited Portsmouth for the first time yesterday and it was like being in a time warp truely one of the most backward places and biggest holes i've ever been too. PUSB''
  11. have you got the link to the site?
  12. that's the main thing for me, he never gives the ball away. Those sort of players are priceless in a team - you can give it to him and trust that he will retain it and intelligently distribute it. He's got the agility to get himself out of tight corners and crowded central midfield areas - He is such a cultured midfield player. Whilst he may might not stand out as much as Lallana, if you take him out of our side and we would drop a level.
  13. He's right, merrington got it wrong.
  14. pablo counago at Ipswich is another name to throw in the mix. Rocket swanie mentioned it on 606 (ok, i know his rep. leaves alot to be desired...) i think he'd make a good signing though, a good intelligent striker... and he hasn't been playing regular at Ipswich.
  15. Great game to watch, leeds more than deserved the win. Man U just huffed and puffed.
  16. another good chance for leeds, they should be 2-0 up they're giving this more of an effort than tinpot wigan did in the week...
  17. Interesting, thanks for that. I found this part interesting... ''if someone comes along and offers him the same sort of Money that ricke got offered, then he'll go - but if they only offer him a bit more than we can afford, i think he needs to take a long look at it.'' references to our interest maybe?
  18. well it'll increase our likelihood of winning penalty shoot outs...
  19. he was i think, but normally he is a very consistent taker. He was always cov's pen taker.
  20. he's only 23 and learning the game himself! i think he's more of a Mellis type player, a direct replacement who is more suited to come straight into the team.
  21. according to the B rovers forum, Leicester have joined the race for Chris Lines - but we have already made a bid of £650k -apparently he's house hunting in Southampton not sure how they'd know that tbf... http://www.brfcforum.co.uk/index.php?/topic/88017-lines/
  22. You wouldn't find a better replacement.
  23. some views from cov. fans: '' hes our best defender, and only one willing to commit himself to tackles and throws himself at the ball thats what the defence misses'' ''I don't begrudge Ward hanging on for a pay day in the Summer. He has been treated dreadfully by Coleman and must be fuming that he is not getting a game ahead of some of the dross (e.g. Barnett) above him in the pecking order.'' ''If I remember rightly Ward cost us £1 million and we are about to lose him for nothing in the summer, or next to nothing in January. If CC was so keen to get rid of him (as he obviously is) we should have done it long ago for a decent fee. ''Elliott Ward has never had a fair crack of the whip from Coleman. Why we had to loan Barnett for instance when Ward is a far better player, scores odd goals and penalties is beyond me.''
  24. i can also back this up (not the specifics of the bid, but that we're very very interested in him) a player I've been banging on about for a little while. common knowledge we tried to get him before the loan deadline....and pards was very frustrated. He's worked with Pardew at west ham, when eh was coming through the ranks - he's someone that pardew rates highly. TBF he is a top championship CB - all Coventry fans agree and are bemused why he doesn't play.
  25. blink and you miss it! - about 15secs, just been on.
