The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

we've already signed a RB -
nahhhh, we don't want sensible explanations like that
-
Confirmation from Poyet - '"I want to thank Calde because he helped us a lot. "Unfortunately I'm very disappointed because he has chosen to wait for an offer from Southampton and not to sign for us with everything agreed. "The disappointment is big. Everything was agreed. "It was only the contract to sign but he decided to wait for a possible offer from another club in this division. "The club is Southampton, who we cannot compete with. "We clarified a few weeks ago that if somebody thinks we are the Chelsea or Manchester City in the division, we are not. That is Southampton. "If they are going to buy the players and pay more than the rest there is nothing we can do about it. "We have withdrawn the offer. "We don't accept players agreeing contracts and not signing. "We are a proper club and he had until midnight yesterday but the offer is gone and he is not going to be our player. "I can promise you that.

''Southampton's turnover is always going to be much higher than ours but I didn't think they were out of the financial MIRE just yet. At least we have stability. Hope he bankrupts them ''

http://northstandchat.com/showthread.php?t=174718 looks like a done deal, confirmed on the radio down there. they're gutted...
-
absolutely top class player, has been massive for them since signing. top bit of business if true.
-
possibly because he couldn't get a flight? /or may not have been able to get back. British airspace is about to close again according to reports.
-
1-1 now, really good game to watch. Could go either way this tie...
-
good - didn't do anything wrong last week.
-
that's the rumour doing the rounds.
-
they're like this irritating little leach, that just will not let go. Just clings on and keeps hanging in there somehow... i still think they're screwed, even if they start next year on 0 - there is no way they will be able to get in players of the quality to get them promoted - and the longer they stay down there it will get even harder.

Sheffield Wednesday want to keep him (he's been on loan there) but he's a player that Pard's bought from Crewe (i think?) when he was at Charlton, so not surprised to see us linked as he's available. not sure he's the type of forward we need though. -
yep. in any normal season (and in all the leauges other than L1) we would be going into the last game v Southend with a chance of finishing 6th. but we could be 10pts off. crazy season.

load of rubbish IMO. connolly has been good for us, but injured way too often - cannot see a club like Leicester offering him a contract if im honest. He'll be here next season. Why would Norwich want Lee Holmes? They're well equiped down their left side with Hoolahan and Lapin. (+ holmes is always injured and has only played 3 games this year for us) -
Were there 6 worse teams than the skates in the prem this year...?
S-Clarke replied to Marsdinho's topic in The Lounge
so even if they add-back the 9 points, they would be above those 6 teams would they? oh. -
who's saying the plan has not be followed? was it promotion or bust this year? i think not. this year was always about spinning the club around and get it moving in the right direction, if that ended in promotion that would have been a bonus - but we gave it a damn good go anyway.
-
crazy isn't it? in a normal season, if we win on sat - we will have gained 83 points which in any league is a fantastic amount, and we are bloody unlucky that it hasn't gained us a playoff place. what have we done wrong this season that deserves so much questioning? We have been a class apart really, and only the idiots cannot see this.
-
i believe this is re-hashed news, from when we had drawn with the likes of Exeter and Brentford. (and we were 16 or so pts off the playoffs and looking like finishing mid-table) Nicola wanted us to push for the playoffs, and end within 10pts of the playoffs. we look like doing that, and more. He said we were too far away from the likes of Leeds - well potentially we could also be within 10pts of them. if the last 2 months have not convinced Nicola, then he will never be convinced.
-
not many fans have a clue about us tbh. some Shef. Wednesday forums have fans saying ''we should sign Lambert/lallana/ as saints didn't go up , they will have to cash in as they are skint''
-
It's not a load of bollix at all, did you go? If you did you'd have to agree it was a great day out, JPT or not, how often do you get to see YOUR team lift a trophy at Wembley? I agree totally with the guy you quoted, pardew wanted to build a winning mentality - and the best way to build that is to win a trophy - and i would imagine Pard's was banging that into the players all season. If i follow the question at the start of the thread -then i'd say the JPT. Why would i swap winning a trophy, for losing in the playoffs? seems silly.

Chaplow maybe, but that's all I'd take from that list. the rest have struggled to perform in the bottom half of the championship. Mellor would possibly be good, if he lost 10 stone. -

we need a CM to push Hammond and Morgan, their places are too easy at the moment and if they're fit - they're in there. The lack of quality backup in CM is scary - so we do need another ''midfield'' general to spice things up a bit and to put some competitive pressure on the current 2 in there. -
He was praising him today, and he's also one of pard's previous players (he had him at Charlton) wouldn't surprise me at all if we went for him.
-
isn't that investment supposed to be coming from Asia? that's been going on for years!
-
i wouldn't touch jeffers with a barge pole, awful player IMO. Spurr is primarily a LB - and has been slated by their fans all season, their lloyd james i guess. Beevers is a good player though.
