    Fans Forum

I think this is where as fans we need to accept that we are a business, the people who own and run us have no reason to listen to anything we say. They will be protecting their investment and their money with their best judgements, not basing their judgements on fans. The sort of approach you're looking for is when you have those 'fans on the board' and fan shareholder group type things, but when you're owned by a group or an investor like this we ultimately have little input in influencing anything.
  2. Did he? By all accounts we paid upwards of £2.5m-3m compo for him and his motley crew of unqualified assistants.
  3. Yep, that's exactly it. Even Luton fans are getting fed up with him, and he's not even there anymore! They don't want him bringing up Luton in every single interview he has with us, because that's all he's doing. You could script his pressers. Reporter - ''So, Nathan, you've lost again - this is your 14th loss on the bounce, what are your views?'' Nj - ''With the greatest of respect this club has been losing a lot of games before I came here. At Luton we achieved amazing things on a shoe-string budget, I was statistically the best manager in the world.'' Reporter - ''But Nathan, that doesn't really explain why you are losing now does it?'' NJ - ''I mean this with the greatest of respect, but as I said these players have been losing for a long time. They were bad before I came here. At Luton we lived and died by hard work, aggression and passion. We need that here, because at Luton we achieved so much on a shoe-string budget. God-willing I can turn it around'' Reporter - ''But Nathan, you've been relegated. You haven't turned it around''' NJ - ''That wasn't down to me, look at what happened at this club over many years. When I was given time just look at what I did at Luton, did I mention I was the best manager in Europe?''
  4. We should have only ever considered getting rid of Ralph if the replacement was better, there was no evidence even before he was appointed that Jones was any better. I think it's fair to say that Ralph had become stale, but I do truly believe that he'd have got us a few wins during the period we've just had. I always felt confident that we'd get a run under Ralph at some stage. My worry is if SR don't act quickly and make a change to the mood then next season will not be fun. It's not all roses in the Championship as Stoke fans will tell you, ditto Sunderland. If you fall down with the level of toxicity we have right now then it will be very hard to garner any momentum to go again, and once you lose a year it gets harder and harder. So in my opinion we need to try and garner some positivity now and take that into next season. We can then asses in the summer and get the right manager for the promotion charge, but there is no way Jones should be allowed to continue causing any more damage to our club.
  5. And by the same token, how does Bednarek just swan straight back into the starting 11? It's no surprise that the flood gates have opened with him in the side by the way, there is a reason the club wanted shot of him in the summer. For some reason we've painted it as a positive that he's back, in place of the players we signed to improve on him FFS.
  6. I think if we're comparing him to Jones today, then he was a raving success.
  7. He contradicts himself all the way through that really, but that's just a consistent theme with everything he does. The main takeaway is that he's thrown a lot of players under the bus there, and maybe some coaches - he's not named names, but people will know who he was referring to and trust me this will not have gone down well. Mutiny in the camp is not far away me thinks.
  8. To be fair I think we are, compared to most other fan bases. This guy had 6 weeks during the World Cup to get to grips, it was seen as the perfect opportunity to train and put his idea's across. He cannot even use the excuse of having his players away at the world cup, as bar two they were all there in front of him every day. What we have come back to since the return from the World Cup are 6 league games, a targetable bunch of really important league games. Brighton at Home, Forest at Home, Fulham away, Villa at home, Brentford away, Everton away. 18 points to play for. We've got 3 points, a solitary win. In his tenure that's 6 defeats out of 7 games. The players do need to take their fair share, there are some right losers in this side that have been stinking this place out for years, but as a manger he has offered absolutely nothing and is showing no nous or idea of how to turn this around. All we have had from him is snipes to the fans, defensive interviews and throwing individual players under the bus. That's all at the same time as losing every game he manages. There is no way there can be anyone who can support him right now.
  9. Kick and rush football is how I see it, the hallmarks of a lower league manager if I've ever seen one.
  10. I know it's the fashionable thing to scream ''EVERYONE OUT'' when things are going bad, so it's worth looking at these sorts of roles a bit more objectively. I don't think Sport Republic have come in here with the wrong intentions, they have put their money where their mouth is and have tried. The problem with them has been how they've executed it and they have made some big mistakes, but it hasn't been for the want of trying. What I saw in the January transfer window was an acceptance that they got the balance wrong in the summer, they opened their cheque book and brought in some proven experience to try and help us (not their fault the manager doesn't play them). Now what I want to see, even though it's embarrassing and an admission of failure, is for them to admit they called it wrong with Jones and fix this before it gets even worse. That would be good leadership, admitting their mistake and going again - obviously they need to stop making these sorts of mistakes and the jury is well and truly out, but they can't let their ego call the shots in this situation as it's as toxic as I've ever known.
  11. No pressure on that game, I think this is a consistent theme with this team. They'll get the win in the headline games, but when the pressure is on and they need to perform (i.e the league) they wilt. It's been a theme for years.
  12. With these comments he's basically given himself a get out, so he can get sacked here and continue to proclaim it was never his fault as he didn't follow his principles because the 'players and fans' told him not to.
  13. If you listen or read anything he ever says, it's always a complete and utter contradiction.
  14. I had a look on the Stoke forums a few weeks ago and I was amazed at how identical your views are to ours, he's doing exactly the same things here. Did he ever call out the Stoke fans for critising him out of interest, and did he refer to Stoke as 'they' when refering to the period before him..? Seems happy to just pass the buck for absolutley every element.
  15. By the way he's going, this will be his last ever managers job. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at his Family's house (was it his mother in law's family who are saints fans?). Surely they're going to be telling him some home truths.
  16. Don't need to listen to it really, it will surely follow the script. ''This is a wake up call'' ''We've got to learn from this'' ''We can't let our levels slip''
  17. It does seem a bit pointless reviewing the game really, as it was just groundhog day with the same mistakes. We started passively with no real intent with that 11, we weren't really under much threat for 40mins but neither did we trouble Brentford in any way. Then we collapse and give away two goals in a min, and that's that. You'd expect a reaction in the second half, and there was a loose reaction. We had the trademark Adams miss from close range, but didn't really trouble them enough even after the break. But it was all a bit hopeless by that point. Diallo, as has been said so many times, is one of the worst CM's to ever play for us. An absolute fraud of a footballer. Elyounoussi ditto, what is frightening is that we seemingly have a contract on the table for this guy - can someone sneak into SMS and rip it up before he see's it? This guy is the worst attacking player we've ever had. There are some decent players here, there are the tools to make this work in my opinion, but they just look shot. They've looked shot for at least a year now and I'm really not sure what the consistent factor in all of this is. I'd argue that Jones has come in and has managed to make a bad situation 10x worse, but these players do need to take a good portion of shit as well - they've been throwing this level in for so long now, under multiple managers. The likes of JWP, Salisu, Bednarek, Adams, Diallo, Perraud need to have a long hard look at themselves really, they have been part of the worst team in English football.
  18. I don't think he's even that good.
  19. Absolutley that, as I said last week the bloke is portraying all the hallmarks of someone who is simply out of his depth. On top of that, he seems to be entirely unhinged.
  20. Maybe he should just piss off back to Luton then. Ankerson came in here with a decent rep, but hiring him has eroded that reputation in one foul swoop.
  21. Holy shit, please put this guy out of his misery. He's a complete and utter loon.
  22. For one moment you thought he was accepting responsibility there, a tiny bit of humility. But no, very quickly he turned that into ''I got it wrong because I listened to others and ignored what I thought was right'. The bloke is so far out of his depth it's incredible. We've had some pretty shocking managers in my supporting life, but this guy is at the top of the list for me. Not just incompetent as a manager but one of the most unlikable people we've ever had.
  23. Losing the will to live. These players don't get off Scott free by the way, some of these guys have been throwing it in every week for years now. How many times do our heads drop and we just toss away goal after goal after a set back. They've got a terrible mentality. But the solutions are there, on the fucking bench.
  24. Jones will be using that card in March.
  25. Not sure who guesses these formations/positions in the BBC at the moment, at a guess I'd go for Garth Crooks.
