  1. There was a pathway here though, he was given minutes in the early pre-season when we were relegated. Martin would have included him in the Championship squad for sure, and he'd have featured in the cups. (as per Dibling). So if it was down to pathway only, he had an opportunity here - more so after we'd been relegated.
  2. As always will be the case, the pathway stuff is just nonsense. Kemi Doyle is another one, went to Brighton for a supposed pathway. He's never played for Brighton, 2 years there, and I think he's on loan at L1 Reading now. It's always about money. Always.
  3. It may end up looking last minute, but that isn't always the true story. A lot of wheels are put in motion weeks and weeks in advance, we're just waiting for other things to fall - when they do fall, we'll have all our ducks in a row and we can move. But given the nature of how transfer windows roll, it's probably going to be a case of waiting until the end for everything to fall into place (outside of our control), so it may look last min but it genuinely isn't.
  4. I don't think football is as black and what as ''Target A stalled, now let's start on Target B' - we'll be working on multiple at the same time. Some not as good, some just as good. There is an assumption from social media that if we can't get player A over the line, it means we're wasting time when we could be looking at another - that's not the case, we'll have multiple hands in the pie all at the same time. My concern with hanging on this Eduard deal is that he really doesn't seem sold on coming here. If he was, he'd have been here by now. That's why I think the club should forget this one, as we could lay down a lot of money for someone who turns out to be fairly uncommitted when the going gets tough.
  5. Stoke seem to be getting excited because they've won 2 games against league fodder. Let's just remember our collective fears - we don't want to become the next Stoke. They're just a bog standard outfit.
  6. I would assume, and hope, we've moved on from this long ago. Not sure why Saint_Lamden was so confident.
  7. I thought we'd be all over that. He's exactly the type of CM we're missing. Realistic, rather than focusing on Sprtsayen
  8. We don't know if we don't have one yet, Downs has been here 10mins. Impossible to say how he'll work out.
  9. Sorry, forgot the GK - yes, that's also a priority too. That would also be a position that goes ahead of ST.
  10. I don't disagree either, but it's probably going to be a toss up on other positions as I can't see us making that many additions. We're clearly being careful with the cash. If we want perfection, we'd get a RB, CM, LW, RW 10 and ST. But we know that won't happen, so we just need to work out what's more important. We currently have no wide players, or 10's, so that would be more important to me, and maybe RB given that Fraser was there today.
  11. Sigh. I can't be arsed to see this drag out all week, to the inevitable conclusion of him signing a new contract with them. Count me surprised if it goes any other way! I'd be delighted if it does.
  12. The next couple of weeks are going to be interesting. We need to make at least 4 signings in that time. A RB, GK - reluctant to say cover, as I want someone to push Bazunu, a 10 and a wide player. If I'm greedy, I'd say another CM and another wide player - but realistically, I think we'll get 4 in the door. Maybe 3 loans towards the end, and one cash signing (maybe that Leo guy)
  13. Just like Fraser, both limited technically, but first and foremost all we want as fans is someone who works their arse of for the side. Both of those guys did that today. We know they're not the answer long-term, and so do they, but they're really professional players and I think it's important to have that sorts around the place.
  14. That's one thing that stands out to me with him, when I've watched him. He's got a really smart football brain, he seems to know when to move, where to move and when to release. That sort of stuff can't be coached, you either have a football brain or you don't, so if he has that in his locker at 18...then yeah, he's going to be a high level pro player for sure.
  15. I do somewhat agree, but he's not at his best in the position he's playing - but he's what I've always described him as, a kick and rush poor-mans Shane Long type forward. Less Technical and refined that Long, but runs around as manically as he did. He's worth keeping around, but if he's still starting regular for us in October in that 9 position then we've got the window all wrong, again.
  16. Haven't you got a game to be focusing on tomorrow? Your new dugouts could do with a polish.
  17. Didn't we have someone like this who took everyone through the Gakpo situation? That ended the same way. I still see this ending in the same way. We've never managed to get our 'big outfield targets' over the line in our SR windows, Gakpo, Ramos, Silva who went to France, O'Riley last summer. All good having the ambition, but we really need a big signing over the line at some point. They've spent a lot, but it's been on kids in the main - not a proven gamechanger.
  18. I saw a young kid bogged down in one of the worst PL teams in history. Anyone would drop off. I think people look at him and say he can't be arsed because has a a bit of a Richarlison look about him - i.e. he never smiles, and just glides around. But that's his game. Obviously when a team is struggling that is heightened and it looks like he can't be arsed, but it's just the style of player he is. I feel some re-writing of history going on by saying we'd be better without him. We wouldn't.
  19. Then just copy the content, stick it in a translator, and post it on here. Link the tweet underneath it. Posting an entirely French post on an English forum is daft.
  20. Brentford, as expected, look to be in real trouble this year. It's a good season for one of Sunderland or Leeds, they've got a chance. I'm discounting Burnley immediately as they're so far off, it will be a rinse and repeat for them. The other two have had a go.
  21. There there is absolutely no point in making that post on an English forum. Translate it before you post it, or don't bother. Waste of time.
  22. Because MLG can't be arsed. On Friday, President Sergey Galitksy 🇷🇺 and Eduard Spertsyan 🇦🇲 met. The player was informed that the offer from Southampton 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 had been rejected by Krasnodar 🇷🇺. Saints FC ultimately made a second offer worth €14 million plus bonuses. The second offer should be accepted by the Russian club. The president apparently does not want to hold on to his players if they want to leave. Eduard Spertsyan could play his last match tonight with Krasnodar
  23. I do have the same niggle. I don't think we can really rely on Stewart, so we'll only have Downs for most of the season as a focal point. Be interesting to see if we do anything there.
  24. He doesn't play 4-3-3 in that sense. So the players we have, don't really work for what he wants. He's having to make do, but I see a lot of common sense in his approach which is somewhat refreshing. (i.e not picking BBD)
