The club are clearly trying to put the blame on the last two seasons down to keeping players who didn't want to be here, but that's just them covering up the issues with recruitment and management which have been far greater. There needs to be some acknowledgement that our manager choices and player choices over the last 2 and a bit seasons have been complete trash and this is what is to blame for our regression. A stroppy VVD or Fonte didn't stop us scoring goals or breaking down teams, that was due to our inability to correctly replace Mane or Pelle, and correctly replace Koeman with a more positive figure.

That was an interesting use of VAR for sure, denmark will feel a little bit agreeved - but it was a handball IMO. VAR certainly makes games interesting......

I think he meant fit and proper persons, which is a fair point. This takeover was held by the league for a while and we may be starting to see why.
-
Looks less likley by the day if we're honest.
-
Or you just don't buy the business and leave us fans out of your funny business.
-
I'm glad I'm not alone! I just feel so dispondant about it all right now.
-
And if that's the case, this takeover is the most pointless takeovers in the history of takeovers and will ruin us.
-
It is complete financial mismanagement if that's the case and we still decided it was a good idea to splurge £20m on Carrillo.
-
Were we though? I struggle to see how that can be the case, given that clubs like Huddersfield and Bournemouth can shell out £15m+ without selling. We've just sold a defender for the highest ever fee and obtain the same millions from the PL as the other clubs, and with a little more in revenue. If that is the case and even after all this we still need to spend to buy, we have had some severe financial mismanagment that will leave us in a mess for years to come and someone will need to answer to the fans.

I guess we tried with Maddison, but this Tadic stuff looks to be more than speculation to me. I guess I'm just ****ed off with it all, it was clear to everyone that we got away with it last season - and the season before to a certain extent. Last season should be a wakeup call to the club, I'd have loved to have seen us start on the front foot and be aggressive in our pursuit of players in the obvious glaring holes in our squad. But that doesn't seem to be the case, as we're already almost in July. If we sell Tadic before bringing in anyone else, then we're just starting on the back foot again. By all means, go out there and improve the squad and THEN look to move Tadic on.... but the way round we do things is wrong and it puts us on the back foot every time. The January transfer window was a disgrace for a club which prides its self on scouting, recruitment and player analysis. They couldn't find anyone else apart from Carrillo at £20m. To be honest, to me, they can't play the 'we like to be sensible with the cash' card anymore after that January window. They just spunked £20m on a player we had no competition for because he was mates with the manager we sacked a few weeks later. We have an owner who is AWOL and we hear nothing from, we have no idea on our intentions, what our expectations are or should be, what our long-term plan is. We just seem to be drifting with no clear goals or plan in sight, and you have to start asking wtf are we getting back for our £600-700 quid tickets?

The first real link we get to any activity is a first choice player leaving. #standard.
-
The club should have thought about that when they offered Forster a new 5 year contract a year after he'd signed a new 5 year contract.
-
As much as I admire the optimism there, it's far more likley that Josh Sims and Jake Hesketh become the Tadic replacement! We shouldn't really need to offload anyone to 'free up' any finances though. We've still got VVD burning in our back pocket, plus all the accociated PL monies. Only rank mismanagement will mean that we have to sell before we can improve this summer.
-
I think the concern we all have is that we already have glaring holes in this area of the pitch (and others). If we start by selling ANOTHER attacking player in a position we already need work on, then we've taken another step back before there are any concrete links for players in. Waiting for the Bertrand rumours to start soon...

Crab Lungs posted them. Although side note, he doesn’t start for Iran tonight. Thought he was their standout player. Must have a knock.
-
He’s not been great though.
-
Not really that similar, although he is what I'd call an attacking midfielder type. The other lad we were linked with (according to an ITK) is a lot more Mane-esque - Moses Simon.
-
At least Carrillo won't be our record signing for much longer.

Summer 2018 - Other teams Manager/transfer business

Wolves managed to make a £2-3m profit on a player they'd only just spent £10m on. Crazy times. -
Morocco a lot quicker to the ball and sharper at the moment. So much better than their opening game.... As per the first game, William Carvalho just waddles through games with no urgency.
-
Yeah, that confused me as well.
-
Ronaldo is at it again.....the bloke is a freak.
-
Whether or not they've just rehashed this from the sun is anyones guess, but....

Linetty is an AMC type, not what I'd call a pure central midfielder. That's what we're seemingly looking for, maybe two attacking types. An obvious replacement for Boufal, and some directness and pace on the wings. (one can hope)
