I've always thought that there was more to this than RK wanting to go, this is part the club decision as well. I remember Guan, or k,billy, mentioned that if he wouldn't sign an extension they wouldn't be against 'moving him' on this summer. I think in some respects this is what has happened. He was probably more than happy enough to stay for the last year and wouldn't have forced an exit. This is why I think people are being a bit too quick to jump in the 'Koeman is a c**t who has no loyalty' bandwagon.

They seem to think they're set to become the new Man City, not entirely sure why.
-
He'll likely be announced as Everton manager later today/this evening.
-
Why do people keep saying Ancelotti? He's the Bayern Munich manager. And Gary Neville, seriously, can people drop this one. He may make a good manager, but let him do that elsewhere first.
-
I wouldn't have thought our technical supplier will have any input on any football matters.
-
I think Koeman has been Everton's no.1 choice to be honest. PSG interest would pip anyone though if that happens. I can't imagine someone who has managed a club to the EL for 3 years will go to a club not in any sort of European competition if he decides to move.

Out of interest, what has Blanc done wrong to warrant the sack...?
-
You would think that, but just take a step back for a second. There aren't any other jobs in the PL. He has come out publicly (can't find the quotes at the mo) saying he would love to manage in England one day. He was on West Ham's list last year, I think they interviewed him, and I think he is genuinely interested in managing over here. Think about it from a managers point of view. You could be coming to a league with the likes of Pep, Jose, Conte, Wenger and co all to go up against, any manager would love to test themselves at this level. With ourselves being such a stable club, financially sound and European football next year, I think you'd be surprised at how many 'named' European names would be interested in this role. It really is a great job for someone.

Emery is the 'name' among European fans at the moment, he's managed to get a decent Sevilla side to win 3 Europa Leagues in a row - they're now the most successful club in EL history. They've retained their La Liga form and finish in and around the top 6. He's had a good team at his disposal, but he's had to deal with losing a lot of players - Sevilla, as a club, are similar to ourselves in that respect. They've lost the likes of Rakatic to Barca, Moreno, Navas over the last 2 or 3 years. But they have always replaced well, Kevin Gamiero came to the fore this year after Bacca's sale - and he has been excellent, and is another one likely to leave this year. So they have a high turnover, but a structure which allows them to replace sensibly and cleverly. I think they've just lost Banega to Inter as well. Funnily enough, Emry was the Valencia coach for a period - and replaced Ronald Koeman after he was sacked. FdB has been very successful in Holland, he won 4 titles in a row, lots of European experience and obviously has the pedigree as a player. He has done well with young players and nurtured some of the new Ajax starts who are coming through, his name was linked to a host of big clubs a few years back, but he stuck at Ajax and he's now a free agent. Both would be very good appointments and if we're looking for managers with experience in European football, then I'd imagine they'd be at the top of any list.

I'd have thought we are long, long, long past the ''looking at'' phase. We will know who are options are, who we want, and all about them. We won't need to 'scout' them.
-
Probably been a case of his agent doing all the negotiations on his behalf, he's now happy and wants to sign - but before we release him to enable him to sign, they have to pay the release fee.
-
What are peoples obsession with former players who have never managed? (I'm not really taking into account the il-fated 5month stint at Valencia). Let an NPC club give them their english football chance. We can attract proven.
-
Most of that came from the £35m the mental moyes spent on Fellani
-
Is that queue our manager shortlist? Told you we'd be attracting all sorts.
-
Isn't Hiddink taking up some sort of behind the scenes role at Chelsea? I think we'd go for a 'younger' sort anyway.
-
AVB was very sought after when he was at Porto, didn't Chelsea pay something like £15m to Porto to get him? He was seen as the new Jose back then! FDB would be another solid choice, I'd imagine he will be all over this job when it's available.
-
6 years at Ajax, 4 or 5 consecutive dutch titles, EL and CL progression - think they got results of Barca/Utd etc during his time there.
-
If you don't believe Les Reed was involved in any after Pardew, then you are a bit naive.
-
Dortmand also adopt a similar approach. If you're a well run club and use the finances well, then you go again. There will be sloppy years, I'm sure - but I much prefer the long-term nature of what we do as opposed to the short term 'lets throw £7m on a manager' quick fixes.
-
It's not about treating it as positive, what can we do as a club other than embrace it and look to the future? Why wallow in what's happened here? Just move forward and go again. In my opinion, there wasn't a scenario where the club would allow him to stay with just 1 year remaining - that's in my opinion and also what Guan alluded to a few weeks back. Which is why I think this is as much of a club decision as it is a RK decision. The impact of changing managers now as opposed to having an entire 12 months of will he won't we is probably what's accelerated this.
-
Let's not start bashing him because he's left. He did good stuff for us, does look a little foolish by making the move in the short-term, but it's his choice. I appreciate the work he did here and I hope he isn't greeted by pointless jeers and boo's every time we face him. This could be every bit the clubs decision as it is Koemans. 3 outcomes were possible this summer. 1) - Sign an improved contract so it doesn't end next summer 2) - Don't sign an improved contract and wait it out for a year 3) - Leave the club My view is that having a manager who is only signed up until the end of next season sticking around, will lead to more chaos and instability than it would if we made the change now. If it's clear he wants to go and his head has been turned, but he's still happy to see out the final year - the forget that, let him go now. The damage would be greater if we're sat here every week with speculation and comments on his future by journo's. This at least enables us to start fresh, put this 'plan' into the hands of someone who can embrace it - not someone who is off in the next year anyway. The premier league is a terrific league. The high profile nature of it next year is obscene, not just the financial increases, but the likes of Pep, Jose, Klopp, Wenger, Conte - etc etc - All in the same league. Any manager worth his salt would love to test himself in this division up against the best, and what better opportunity than to do that at a top 6 club who have a fantastic setup and EL football to look forward to. I think some will be surprised at how attractive we look right now to some unlikely names. On wards and upwards. Thanks for the memories Koeman, but if these last 2 years have taught us anything it's that it's not about 1 person. We're greater than that.
-
But he's not exactly achived anything to suggest he's going to be anything decent at a higher level. I'd prefer to leave those sorts of gambles/giggs/neville etc to the Villa's and Newcastle and other NPC clubs. We're in a position to attract a top European manager.
