  1. I fancy Long to do well, he's playing well at the mo - top of his game. Best time for him to play in a major tournament. Hopefully Fonte gets the nodd as a first choice, but I reckon it'll be Pepe and 1 other. Pelle will probably lead the line for Italy though. Not euro's specific, but has anyone seen how Tadic has been playing for Serbia? He's at the top of his game right now, looks unplayable.
  2. Has he signed yet?
  3. I don't quite understand their tact to be honest, why don't they just keep their cards close to their chest? why blurt out that they're after a £30m striker? Surely all that does is make the entire thing more difficult and more of a charade.
  4. If he played for anyone other than Arsenal, he'd have no chance what so ever. Barkley is also just as baffling. All he seems to do in a game is turn with the ball, get fouled, fall over, win a free kick, loss the ball - repeat.
  5. What have Everton won then? The top 4 place back in 2003, where they were quickly dumped out in the qualifier. And they haven't been near since. I honestly never had a problem with Everton, a traditional British club - but their fans are a bunch of fannies by the looks of it, just because they now have a billionaire in charge. note - so do we.
  6. Or you play them both up top together, play a diamond in behind with Ali at the tip, Dier in the deeper role and Lallana/Drinkwater/Henderson/Milner in the two. Get Clyne and Bertrand at full back and get them to do what they're good at - providing width, and the two midfielders and Dier can cover the full back positions if reqd. #Controversial, no shoehorned Rooney!
  7. You have to feel sorry for Drinkwater really. He's had the season of his life, lifted the PL and has been one of the best British midfielders in the league the last 12/18mths Jack Wiltshire has been injured for 12 months, hasn't started a PL game and is in ahead of him.
  8. I think we have a Soft Lad here.
  9. He really isn't worth any of the hassle that comes with him. Too many third parties involved with him, for some reason. Let him go back home I'd say.
  10. Not sure if that's sarcastic or not, but have you seen the state of those clubs? I wouldn't want any of our players anywhere near them.
  11. They lost both of their cup finals, finished eighth and have no European football next year. #livingthedream
  12. He was so out of position in one game, that he ended up playing upfront for Bournemouth.
  13. His agent said as much, as he isn't going to cost a transfer fee, he can barter for more in wages. So if you think he'd probably ask for 200k p/w usually, he's probably after 300k p/w +. There is no universe where we would ever pay a player that.
  14. The PA system is clearly not fit for purpose tbh. I've been to other grounds and although it's not loud, you can still make out what they're saying. You can strain to hear as much as you want at St Mary's, but you'll never work it out. There were times last season where i tried to lip read the half time player interviews or whatever else they had. The club did just send out a survey and I suggest everyone puts the PA bit down as an improvement to the 'match day experience' section....
  15. Yeah, I saw a picture of him in a tweet a while back. Assumed he was just learning. Jonny Heigtnta has also been around (former everton CB) Good time for that song to take off then...
  16. Don't think either come in the 'signings which made me ecstatic' bracket tbh.
  17. Don't think Twente ever played in it. I think that list is pretty conclusive, apart from Gardos as mentioned above.
  18. Skacel, after that entire summer of will he won't he. He ended up being nothing special and he probably pushed us over the line financially. Gaston - Was a signing that lit the imagination of most. We'd all read all summer how the top clubs were after him, he'd had a great Olympics etc. But apart from 'That villa game™' he never did it at all, just didn't seem suited to the rigors of premier league football and how we setup to play. Osvaldo - another 'big' signing, and an apparent marquee signing. But a catastrophic failure. He was garbage both on and off the field.
  19. I'd have thought Antonio is right up Jose's street.
  20. I think this is just as a consequence to our quick rise, which probably caught some at the club by surprise. Although our young players are good, they're probably not good enough (yet) to sustain a 6th place PL club. That has led to us investing into better quality players all over the pitch, so they do fall down the pecking order a little. I think game time is the best, as we saw from McCarthy this year, so if they're further away from the first time it's fair to assume we'd be open to a loan. It's all about being flexible as a club and adjusting to different situations, things have changed for us in an incredibly quick timescale.
  21. Why are they still clinging onto the fact that he may be their manager? There is more chance of me being their new manager.
  22. You're not going to get much better backup than Stek in the transfer window, let's be honest.
  23. Well you kinda did, seeing as you said ''some of you THINK we are doing really well''. This ''keep making big changes'' myth is doing my head in. We had one pre-season whereby we sold a fair few players, that's it. The press and the media made out the same happened last year, but it didn't. We lost 2 players, that was it. We may lose a couple this year as well and bring in a couple. Last summer and potentially this summer doesn't really equal big changes or massive upheaval.
  24. #6th in the premier league
  25. Tough opposition for them, will give them a real test. Always good to have competitive games at that stage of the pre-season.
