Your point about pre-season is interesting. I didn't read a great deal into it, as I never do with pre-season games, but Anderlecht and Udenese pulled us all over the show. We look just as bad against the real PL teams.
I don't believe that. It's the whole squad, it's the culture in the club. At the end of the day it's another game with SFC and a big fat L against it, unless we turn it around. Losing it benefits no one.
You've not been proven right though have you?
You said he'd lost the dressing room in L1, you said he'd be lost in the CCC. You said he'd be outmanaged all year in the CCC.
But you were wrong. He had a hugely successful 2 years with us and didn't put a foot wrong.
This year is slightly different, and due to limitations in the squad as well as odd tinkering it's not quite working. But it doesn't justify your opinion from 2 years ago.
We should be looking to win games though, continuously losing isn't going to help anyone, which is all we're doing this season. I don't understand how anyone would just except a loss, especially in this season we're having.
This is a winnable game.
Jos, Lee, Mayuka, Davis, JWP, Reeves, Chappers. All part of the first team squad, at least on the bench in the PL games. It's not really a reserve team, a mixture of PL squad players and a couple of reserves such as Seaborne and SDR.
I still don't actually think the 11 is too bad, just disjointed by the sounds of it. At the end of the day it's hard for us to make a massive comment as we can't see it, but the fact we're losing isn't a good sign.
Its a game of football though, and a game we could win to help our morale. If we lose it, it's just another loss in this very sorry season. What would it be? something like 8 defeats in 12 games or something? Horrific.
The only recent decentish example of a yo-yo team is WBA, but even they spent a season failing in the playoffs before they got it right. It just annoys me seeing people say ''Anyway, if we do go down at least we'll be winning games again and we can bounce back with a decent side''. It really won't be like that.
Tonight's game is also an early example of how hard it will be to return if we do get relegated. This is probably the standard of team we'd be left with, although it's not too bad, there are still championship teams better drilled than our 11. However we'd be down with no confidence and no momentum. Would cost us a few seasons of rebuilding at least.
tbf Lee hasn't played a great deal due to injuries, but his reputation seems to have grown due to that, but I'd echo the De Ridder comments - a pretty horrific football player if we're honest.
Seager is a great young talent, but it's best to let him carry on where he is for a while longer. I do like the look of him though, but remember....Mcgoldrick scored 45 goals in 1 season at that level before...!
To stay up, I always like a team to have around 15-20 points by January. Much less than that, and they have an almighty fight in the 2nd half of the season.
