His touch and speed of thought would be better than most players in our squad, even at his age. He's still good for a year. Easily.
-
Ok, this is the one Nixon was on about. Yes please is all I'll say.
-
Yes please..!!!!!

Is this the bizarre signing? If so - I'd be bloody happy with that. I'd love to see Del Piero at St Mary's, one of my all time favorite players.
-
All he has to do is a little google, and he will find that Gaston himself confirmed the contract...! Never really been too sure on Peter White....seems to post a lot of ''fact'' based on his opinion, not sure he knows a hell of alot. Maybe snippets here and there, but not a great deal.
-
He has agreed terms, not sure what peterwhite is on about there. Maybe he's not complete up to date with it...!
-
First I've heard of any announcement rumours anyway. Unless I'm totally out of date on this thread today. I've kind of actually done some work today, rather than read this!

Sam Gallagher - Plymouth Argyle youth player to sign for Saints
S-Clarke replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Jeez, another thread being dragged down the pan. I actually hear very good things about this kid. Spoken of very, very highly - apparently not far away from the FT at all, potentially involved next season if he carries on progressing. -
Another day gone, and it's all still the same.....

The deal is off, but might still be on. By this afternoon the deadline is over, and it may be off again. but tomorrow morning I will tweet again as it may be on. But by the weekend it will be off again. but by the end of the transfer window it will be on again.

It's being assumed that we're at fault here, or we're being difficult, when it clearly isn't. We've offered them a fair deal IMO, a deal that other clubs would have offered them. We don't want to put ourselves at risk in a financial sense, so why pay more than we have at the mo? And also if we pay more up front, it could gobble up funds for a CB. Paying it over the duration of a contract is the sensible way of doing it, and I don't really know of any clubs (other than man city, chesea, madrid) who pay every single penny up front for a player. We're not quite that rich.
-
Weird one. He plays out wide as well as up front, so fits the type of player we're after. I'm not writing him off though. I stand by the fact that Blackburn was a nightmare to be part of, and any new additions wouldn't have too easy a job integrating into that mess. I think he's a decent player and with the right support around him could be a threat, but I must admit it's a step down from who we have been linked with. I think what may have happened is that press have got hold of one of our alternatives, and we probably have shed loads of alternatives.
-
To be honest, we had so many ''reported'' deadlines in the Rodriguez and Jack Cork details, so I don't think there are deadlines as such. He's such a massive player so if they do relax their demands then we're not going to say no. I imagine we've just made it clear we'll look at other targets, but the door will never slam shut on this completely.
-
Some money is better than no money at all - surely. Hence why this tactic is to try and weed a little more out of us, or get another club interested who can offer a bit more. So far, neither has happened and we're at stalemate. They'll realise this eventually.
-
Brinkmanship. All week we've had numerous tweets, but nothing has actually changed since the weekend. Weird transfer.
-
Nixon on twitter says we have a ''bizarre'' target he is trying to firm up. Not sure if that's bizarre in a good or bad way though.
-
Jack Cork, Jay Rodriguez. 2 Recent ones that swung both directions for weeks. I remember days when the Cork deal was off, as he was holding out for WHU. And even on the day he signed, there are leaks on twitter that he'd chosen Forest instead! Jay went back and forth as well. At one point our deal was off as Everton wanted him. We got both in the end though as they both realized that no one would better what we offered, and they were our number 1 targets so we never completely shut the door on them (ala Buttner).

Peter White @peterwhite_1 I am just trying to present facts. I still think and hope deal goes through but no guarantees. Sure NC working overtime #saintsfc Expandite @peterwhite_1 @jasmineedyer A very good source. I promise I don't make things up for effect #saintsfc

If it's the tweet I've found, just a random fan by the looks of it.
-
Peter White @peterwhite_1 Ramirez deal definitely not dead yet, but could do with an early kiss of life tomorrow #saintsfc
-
Simon Peach @SimonPeach Still getting a lot of Ramirez tweets. As I said, led to believe deal to #SaintsFC is not off yet. Games are being played by all involved.
-
ah no - it's ice tea. I'm ITK on that.

This is actually a very good example of the current situation. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11695/8009808/Sunderland-agree-Fletcher-deal They had 3 bids turned down. Wolves were adamant that a deal would not be agreed as they were ''keeping their best players''. Amazingly, as we get to the close of the window, they've agreed a fee, which is the same fee that they rejected a week or so ago. They've made their fans feel a little better though s it shows they've put a little fight up. Once they realise that a) they have a player who wants out, and b) they won't get a better off in the reaming few days....they accept.
