  1. True. One of the sad parts of modern football as the big teams have a lot of money and no patience. Instead of young managers and players getting time to prove themselves over a couple of seasons at clubs like ours, it’s is less risk to take a punt early, and just bin the dude if he fails. Someone will probably take a chance on him in the summer or at the manager merry go round next season.
  2. Being Norwegian I still think back to the pen we got against Brazil in WC98 and how my reaction was equal parts amazed and happy. The shirts back then were huge, and it stood out like a sail in the wind, but even back then I thought: these are never given, and certainly not against a bigger team. 30 years on (including VAR) and they still haven't really changed anything. If you are lucky, you might see one given once in a blue moon.
  3. Giving a penalty for the pulling of shirts is not a common thing. Usually not given. The inconcistency with this rule is that they are given sometimes... I would like se them given more often, just to reduce the amount of pulling in the box, but that probably won't happen.
  4. I think there is one thing that is not mentioned often about Tall Paul, that would have made it very difficult for him to succeed here. For him to work, you need a manager with a style that suits him. The way we, and our manager plays is that we press from the top, and our striker is a big part of that. He would not be used much, even if we had him, as he is not mobile enough for the way we play.
  5. This. Our accountants may not like it, and it will give us less of an advantage getting the best price from Ramsdale, as our hands will be a little tied behind our backs in negotiations, but it must be done! Ramsdale probably won't leave before the end of the window anyway, so doing that first will probably mean we miss out in Peretz, There is probably a final date like 30th june or something where we have to use our option on him.
  6. That is so poor Archer... that you cannot keep that ball in is just horrible. He goes out of his way to do some movement. Probably no awareness of wehere he is on the field and where the white lines are...
  7. Archer... our offence is now gone. We will struggle. Down to 10 men
  8. Throw in a couple of yellows to Bree and Downes, and an injury to Stewart in the second half - and the night is complete
  9. All the players in the videos from the club when he scored 2 goals called him Matsuki, none of them said Matski, so I am guessing he is not to bothered by the correct pronunciation himself.
  10. Yeah, he looks off the pace.
  11. I agree, he is pretty much equally good at passing and controlling the ball with both feet, and equally poor at shooting with both 😄 It is good to have a winger who can go both ways, makes him and us more unpredictable, but I just love the old wingers who got to the byline and crossed, so I guess I was hoping to see more of that from him.
  12. Pretty sure he is right footed. He looks that way to me, and Transfermarkt and a quick google confirms that.
  13. Reminded me of a Rickie Lambert penalty. Harry Kane is just copying Lambert 😉
  14. Is it just me, or did he go for the byline and get a cross inn almost every time he got the ball in the beginning? At the time when whe had Arma and Archer in the box... It seems to me he is cutting back a lot more now, and only tries for the byline one in five or something? And now we have proper 9's in the box... I wonder if this change is becuase he has lost confidence, or if it is how we want him to play, and he is struggeling with it, and has lost confidence beacuse of the change? Anyways, he just needs to score.
  15. Yeah, if Stewart is out for a couple of weeks 😉 we are a different team with Archer coming on around the 60+ minute… you could see how poor we got last game. The difference is huge when it is Stewart or Larin coming on…
  16. Yellow cards situation I would think.
  17. I agree with you on the general idea, but there are two teams on the pitch and it also has a lot to do with how the other team reacts and changes. I think the main difference between the Charlton game and the QPR game is the way they played against us. QPR played right into it, giving up too much space. Charlton were compact, worked hard and limited space.
  18. Nah, no interest in that. Just wants to try and pick apart one sentence, removed from the rest of the post (and the thread), and start an argument (not a discussion).
  19. As I understood his post (and piont), I took it as players over the age of 27 he was asking about, so none of them?
  20. In hindsight, it was ridiculous in hindsight. Come on, it's how we roll on here, isn't it? 😉
  21. It's all about how we respond in the next games. Will it be with wins, or will it be with another draw and a loss? Too many subs at the same time agian (65th and 71st), it completely disrupted us, and we were not in it for about 20 minutes. Only in the last 10 min of extra time did we apply any pressure again.
  22. The Fab FAB. Every time i see this thread/title near the top of the site, my first thought is that it is the "Fabrice29 appreciation thread"
  23. Commentator: "Miscontrolled by Archer. One of those days" ONE !?!
  24. True, but some people should have their social media privileges revoked. We really need some sort of licence to use it.
  25. It has been so frustrating watching us play with one hand tied behind our back for so long. Now we compete at a level playing field, without a handicap. With Peretz in goal I no longer react (faster than Baz) each time a shot is fired towards the goal. I can just sit back and watch.
