Was going to respond to this by pointing out the blindingly obvious but I see others have already done so.

The bit about me wishing he had won the election was most definitely sarcasm. He is an utter moonraker.

Ahhh so according to Jeremy spending vast amounts we can't afford and that will take us decades to pay off because we are in an unprecedented crisis and have no choice, is justification for spending vast amounts we can't afford and that will take us decades to pay off when we are not in an unprecedented crisis and do have a choice. **** I wish he'd won that election.

Economic meltdown aside, the most worrying thing I've heard during this whole thing (which seems like an eternity already but only really got serious 2 weeks ago) was speaking to a work contact today who I haven't spoken to for ages. It was obvious he was in bits from the moment he spoke and he went on to describe how his son in law "a fit 30 year old boxer with a six pack" is gravely ill with it. Makes you wonder if they are holding the full truth back (for well intended reasons). Jesus, stay safe everyone.

Good luck with it all, seriously. I run a business with 1 employee (me) I'd hate to have to deal with all that on top of all the personal worry we're all suffering as well.
-
Not sure they even knew when they announced it/know now but I was under the impression that they get 80% from Gov't then up to employer to top up or not. Taking a 20% hit seems a more than reasonable alternative to losing your job altogether.
-
I thought maybe that was the case but await the answer. I'm not normally the optimistic type but as long as this doesn't drag on for months I think we can bounce back very quickly in terms of business activity. Noted though we'll be saddled with a load more debt as a Country which is massively unhelpful. Can't see those potholes getting repaired any time soon.

Serious question, genuinely curious - when you say lay them off do you mean permanently. If yes why, when you can furlough them and they get paid 80% of there wages by the Government?
-
They are short staffed but not to the extent that it is necessary for them to have curtailed services as much as they have. That said if they kept services to the maximum their current staffing levels would allow peak times/rush hour would be crowded well beyond the point that 2m min social distancing would be in any way feasible. They should offer key workers free ubers and pay the drivers direct.

Vast majority of construction workers are self employed therefore Government desperate to keep them going and not face having to deal with a/the cost of sorting out the same 80% payments pledged to PAYE workers b/the complications of sorting such payments out c/the furore if they do neither. Hiding behind the (partially true but not really practical) notion you can all stay 2m apart on a building site. Ultimately it won't matter anyway, suppliers like Travis Perkins and Brewers shutting down. No supplies, no construction.

Again, hope you are right, if you're not we really are ****ed. All very worrying especially when there's articles out there suggesting you don't necessarily get immunity after catching it.

Cats Do The Funniest Things on channel 5 ditto.

So because every other "virus infection" works like that then this one has to as well? I sincerely hope you are right.
-
Haha what a ****ing ******. Next up, Allah willed me to get infected to illustrate what a danger infidels and their infidel diseases are to the true believers.
-
Well yes but only if its established that if you've had it once you won't get it again. No concrete confirmation of that yet as far as I can see.

Superb scoring record for us, goal every 1.6 games. Nowhere near that anywhere else he played. Nice one George RIP.

Yeah and strictly loan wolf attacks only until further notice.

Funnily enough - actually extremely unfunnily enough - I’m wondering the same. Exchanged about a month ago so no pulling out. Was considering paying full purchase price and not having mortgage - something I can just about afford to do - now worried about being out of work and and having nothing to fall back on. ****s sake just as things finally getting on the up after 3 tortuous yrs of Brexit this has to happen.

Grimes "Miss Anthropocene" A really out there artist managing to be original in an era when basically everything's been done multiple times. Quite fit too.

Yeah, can just see that happening. Typical bloody Saints selling up to a former contestant on the Apprentice or a dead former Newspaper Mogul. -
People not saying the word please after the words excuse me.

It has been fecking atrocious it really really has. Thought those FIVE straight games without goal at the end of Puel's season were about as bad as it could get but we've had 3 more seasons of complete cack since. Just awful.

He got tackled by a player laying flat out and motionless on the floor yesterday. He's got fantastic skill but he's just brainless I'm afraid, head down all the time, just not aware of what's developing around him. It's been the best part of 4 seasons and the same number of managers now and his obvious ability still hasn't been honed into anything consistently useful. Damn shame really, I thought maybe Ralph would be the man to get the best out of him, but it just ain't ever going to happen.

I want this to be good news. I could be but more likely/inevitable will have us in a scenario where we can't find a buyer and are stuck with an owner that doesn't want us and never seemed interested even when he apparently did. Sunderland fans can advise us where that leads.
