The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

I think the Echo were talking Lines up more. I would prefer Douglas from Swindon. -
Surely the HMRC would be better off issuing another winding up order, and hoping they get a judge this time with the balls to do the right thing. If that happened, I would bet that the outstanding tax bills of Cardiff and Preston, and any other club, get swiftly paid. It probably won't happen though, because HMRC strike me as bullies who go for the easy targets, and let arseholes like PFC slip through the net.

For me HMRC should not accept the offer. The message being sent to the rest of football is 'if you can't pay, we'll get our money back in the long run and in the meantime you can fall through the leagues. At the same time, the directors responsible for the mess/fraud will be hunted down anyway'. What's to stop Cardiff, Preston et al from offering HMRC 20% of their debt now?

You couldn't make it up. -
40% is very fair, as long as they pay 40%, just like I do on PAYE. It doesn't seem to be the case at the moment.

I got a lump in my throat every time he cried off a game.

I don't think Ed Balls could carry Labour through an election win. To me the only serious contenders are him and the Miliband brothers. I would go for David. Very switched on, although I was impressed by his brother on the Andrew Marr show.
-
If he's the one that went on a great run down the line and set up Brenford's goal at St Marys we should sign him because he's better than we've got at the moment. Good player.

So the VAT rise could increase welfare payments by the state. Lots of decent arguments from both sides of the fence today.
-
You make a fair point Grandad. And after all, we do have a deficit to pay. I'll let you have that one.

I think HMRC are gunning for a football club to go down the pan. Why give Pompey another chance to welch on their taxes again in the future. If Pompey weren't a football club, but a normal trading business, it would have been closed down by now, and the directors would be up on charges.
-
Exactly right. But then you have a whole host of crooked b*stards on the FIFA committe, such as Blatter and the odious Jack Warner. I'd rather Triesman had stayed, and had the argument in the open with the bent Spanish, Russian associations and FIFA. So what if it costs us the World Cup - we shouldn't be trying to win a bent contest by appeasement.
-
Merely my opinion, and I'm sure I'm not the only person.

Coaching badges? The only coaching badge he needs is the one that says he was a top pro for 20 years. Any idiot can get a coaching badge.
-
Anyone see his interview on the Andrew Marr Show. Came across really well.

We defintely need a centre-midfielder to replace the woeful Hammond/Wotton. I don't buy all this 'Hammond does stuff you don't notice'. The only things I notice about him are not being able to play a simple pass and not being able to trap a bag of wet cement.
-
I think it would be funny as you like if we had our own 'c*nt with the bell'. Any volunteers?
-
I reckon this sort of thing, and bribing of World Cup refs has been going on for years, and Blatter knows it. It would explain why we have been on the receiving end of some awful decisions over the years, because we play fair. Not like those dirty foreigners. If that's what the World Cup is about we're better off out of it.

Common sense seems to have gone out the window. The kids whose parents don't let them out are missing out. When I was a nipper I was never indoors. Panic, hysteria and over-reaction. For the record I have to daughters of middle-school age.

And there was me thinking it was caused by the Tory bankers and their greed.

Not necessarily. It hits lower income earners proportionally more. They still need to spend much of their income to live. What's unfair about income tax?
-
It could have cost us dearly. Pardew with a decent pre-season would have put a team out at the start of the season that would have overturned the 10 points a lot quicker. He didn't because the bullsh*tters - Fialka and Lynham, backed by Le Tiss strung the administrator along with empty promises. Get a grip? Muppet.

The most useless job in football. Everything should be between the manager and the CEO/Chairman (depending on the structure of the club).
-
I suppose they will see where the land lies a little nearer the time. If Labour are racing in front in the polls they may campaign as the ConDems. If Cameron thinks he could get a majority on his own he will drop his Liberal brothers like a stone.

Good statement from Cortese. Matt was our best ever player, but his poor judgement could arguably have cost us promotion. He should choose his words a little more wisely. Cortese is spot on with the Echo, garbage paper that I wouldn't even wipe my arse with.
