Yeah, you wear as much or as little as you like as far I'm concerned, I couldn't give a toss I'll be honest, I thought the Burkha was a religious piece of clothing hence why I based my argument around it. If wearing one was a violation of British law, then fair enough. As far as I am aware, it is not, and therefore if women want to/choose to wear one then so be it, I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist worrying about it. As a society we LOVE to do this: Concentrate all our energy on trivial things rather than dealing with the big problems.

We haven't been able to have any sizeable influence on world affairs since the 1940s, just see the Suez crises for when it all started to go wrong. I don't agree with cutting the military so much that it leaves us vulnerable, but do we need an army the size of the current one? Serious question that... Then again, I suppose many will say it is easy for me to advocate cuts in other sectors when I'm sat in my 'cushy' public sector job...however, I don't think that education will be so 'cushy' come this time next year.

If Christians can wear crucifixes (sp?) and if Jews can wear a Kippah (skullcap) I fail to see why we should dictate to Muslims what religious 'accessories' they can wear.

I'm on part 6 of 12 at the moment, just after all the bombs have been dropped. You're right it is dated, but still compelling. Obviously it is easy to look back on all this now with hindsight, but you can certainly see why many people in their 30/40/50s suspect anything 'red' when the BBC were making programmes like this. It's been a great watch so far... Jesus Christ, what was that hospital scene all about??!!?! (on part 8 now).

Anyone seen this on Sky1? It's another one of those programmes that tries to get super obese people back to normal weights. Now, I have no problem with these programmes per se, it just annoys me that these people need a TV crew in their house to actually do something about it. They always come out with "The doctor says I need to lose at least 5 stone otherwise I am at serious risk of having a heart attack" as they stuff another burger in their mouths, well then, if that is not enough motivation for you, what the hell is? Also, the size of meals they are eating is mental! This family from a couple of nights ago were packing away 9000 calories each a day, ****ing ridiculous.

They did it on BBC Look East as well, in this case though it was a rather old women, so I didn't laugh with that one.
