I not sure that anyone is going to be be pleased about this budget. The rich will be taxed. The papers reported that a windfall tax is headed for the banks yesterday. Public services will be cut and rest of us will have to stump up more that our perceived fair share. It is going to hurt. However I would rather have a government who got on with it than one that dithered storing up even greater problems for the future. I actually feel a bit of sympathy for Georgie boy. He has an impossible job. Whatever he does, someone loses out and they will perceive that some one else is not paying enough. Rather him that me.

This is the crux of it. They can't blame easy jet or ryan air. It's a competative marketplace and the low cost airlines offered something that the consumer wanted and BA couldn't or wouldn't. Companies have to evolve and move with the times or they die. The problem at BA is that the Unions make change very difficult.

I don't think the soldiers should be prosecuted. Whilst what they did was wrong, they should be covered by the amnesty granted to all "combatants" as part of the Good Friday agreement. I heard their solicitor say that whilst the judicial review has drawn the conclusion that the actions of the soldiers was unlawful, there is so much contradicatory evidence that if would be difficult to secure a criminal prosecution.

When you are not stuffing them down mole holes, where exactly do you keep a snake like that? I imagine that it would be a bit of a struggle to get him down the hole if he decides that he doesn't fancy it. I have visions of the men behaving badly scene when tony tries to flush the snake down the bog. Anyhows, the snake idea will not fly at chez CB. Mrs CB has pathalogical fear of snakes. If it got loose I would end up trying to find something further up the food chain to deal with it.
