    Moles

I know some one who tried this to rid himself of a particularly pesky badger. He sat in a desk chair with a shotgun in his lap waiting for the badger to turn up. Anyway there was a bit of nip in the air so he took with him a half bootle of scotch to keep his spirits up and sat sipping away whilst patiently waiting. At some point as dawn was breaking he awoke to find the empty bottle of whiskey lying on th ground and half a dozen badger dug holes around his chair. He has not lived it down to this day.

Its mole season, again. The first mole hill of the year has just appeared in the middle of the lawn. Last night the little b'stard staked his claim to my garden and has spent today expanding his borders (and destroying mine). So before he and his brood completely wreck my garden who knows the best way of dealing with the s0ds. I have tried the sonic sticks but they seem to use them as landmarks. I am open to all ideas, lethal or otherwise.
  5. If anyone plays one of those down the pub....
  6. Free divers are absolute nutters. That clip was four minutes long - try holding your breath that long.
  7. This comment of AA gets up my nose... 'The Griffins offer is just not workable, there would not be a football club left.' He is suppose to be doing what right for the creditors not the fans and if that means that PFC ceases to exist then that is what has to happen.
  8. Z- ZZZZZZ - See C above
  9. If they did they probably would be accused of bullying;) I suspect that there is a little bit of collusion between checkin staff and the travelling crew. When you book a ticket on BA you usually specifiy your seat then. It just so happened that their pre booked seats were mysteriously unavailable when they turned up to check in.
  10. My folks have have on several occasions not been able to sit together dispite requesting to do so when booking because the BA crew have taken seats on the plane. Doesn't sound so bad until you consider they had paid full price for business class seats.
  11. Ah so the "climate of fear" is only being felt by the stubborn heathrow lot.
  12. Pompey went into admin before the deadline, we didn't - different rules apply.
  13. So when portsmouth needed the money most they cut their prices by up to 16% last year. Mentalists.
  14. Are there any statistics out the which some the average household income in real terms before and after Thatcher?
  15. To be fair so did Blair and Brown. Brown just forget to get off the train before it crashed.
  16. Thatcher made some very unpopular decisions during her tenure. Some were necessary given the financial state of the UK at the time (I sometimes wonder if people recall just how bad the mid to late 70's were or if the passage of time has take the edge off it). Other she completely misjudged the mood of the electorate, poll tax being the obvious one. Interestingly Cameron is faced with a similar financial situation, arguably worse that Thatcher inherited in 79. Everyone agrees that drastic measures are needed to balance the books, so will DC generate the same hatred that Maggie does due the decisions his government are going to have to make to set things straight.
  17. Good Idea, I'll take my rotavator to staplewood
  18. In a strange way I quite admire Alps. He plants his flag in the sand and defends his position ferociously against all comers. Mind you I think he's a little bit premature this time. Had this thread been posted at the start of August I would probably agree with him.
  19. Like for like, basic salaries were higher in the the private sector, however the gap has closed dramatically in recent years. If you then take into account the public sector pension provisions, then on balance they are probably comparable. The public sector is about to get squeezed, however they will also benefit from much better redundancy payouts as well as having no worries that their company pension fund that they have been paying into for 40 years will disappear overnight.
  20. So in other words - here's 4p in the £ up front, Can't guarentee the rest. Can't imagine why the revenue are not grabbing this deal with both hands.
  21. CVA question - If a CVA is agreed, what happens if the terms are not met at a later date(is AA liable for instance) I ask because the income side of the P & L seems based upon a huge amount of assumption (player transfers, gate receipts, future tv money) and may not materialise in the quantities previously thought.
  22. Who are the £30m of players that griffens will be selling then?
  23. Pull BA's accounts - his full package is a matter of public record
  24. I have to laugh. You accuse people of being brainwashed by right wing newspapers but your counter arguements you take from the paragon of independance "Unite".
  25. The tolpuddle martyrs happened in 1834. The world is somewhat different now. Striking to have non contractual free flights reinstated when your company has just lost half a billion pounds is lunacy. The martyrs were paid subsistence wages and had just had their third pay cut. The martyrs had a point - Bassa don't.
