Positive aspects of being in the Championship

November would be preferable unless you want to suffer the plague of caravans and holidaymakers heading that way. -

True to a point but perhaps review the Championship ‘ cliches’ after we’ve been down there a while. Of the examples you give, Darren Powell was just shit, rather than ‘brick shithouse’, and Tadic, Mane, and Lallana regularly offered an end product as well. Yet to see that with Edozie for example -

Yes, but if you want to see Saints highlights on the box then Line-acre is part of the Saturday night offering -
Reminds me of the intended plastic duck protest against Rupert. Didn’t materialise.

We’ve needed that in the Premiership over the last two or three seasons. Are you any more confident that Semmens and Ankersen will deliver that for the championship? Brick shithouse centre half, or another nimble footed Edozie, or Larios type ? You know which they’d pick. They need a manager who realises this, and enforces it in the transfer strategy. But again, can you rely on them to select one? -
In all seriousness, no we shouldn’t. But Newcastle scored 5 in what was it, 35 minutes last Sunday ? If that happened to our lot you know how easily that simply cave in, so anything is possible. Its also possible, that we put a super human effort in, and nick something, with them also having an off day. We must be overdue something from this fixture (But then not turn up at Forest or home to Fulham). Not counting any chickens though.

don’t forget the catering ?

I can’t stand Sutton, but he’s spot on there. Although 5-0 may be generous to us.

Going back to L1 days, but it appears that Brighton more than managed to “keep up”.

Not having to occasionally watch and listen to the smug twat Lineker and his supporting cast on MOTD. -
Could be our own record under threat today.
-
They’d have to do it for a season though.
-
I expect we’ll look to spare Bazunu the embarrassment of a heavy defeat. We’ll play him CF this week instead
-
Of those you mention Vieira and Gerrard (despite Rangers) are really still trading on their names as players and remain unproven. Vieira is perhaps more of a ‘name’ but his record/reputation as manager is probably enhanced by being associated with City ( something the Saints hierarchy seem blinded by).
-
I agree with you but if Rasmus is selecting then we’re more likely to appoint a dickhead
-
That just added to the alarm bells already ringing after the Jones fiasco
-
First watching Saints in the 1960’s, and all the way through to the 1980’s it was often commented on the Southampton was widely respected for its stability as a club. Changed with Lowe’s involvement, but even then no one would have imagined how it’s been allowed to go down the toilet.
-
Would it make any difference? Fully accept that this step could be seen as ‘the rebuild starts now’. But realistically seems unlikely we’ll secure a manager for next season this soon, as they’ll probably be waiting on other vacancies before dropping into the Championship.
-
So easy isn’t it ? Or it should be. Instead of which players are selected and almost parachuted in with no input from the manager, who then has to work with the player day in day out. I’ve joked about it before, but always felt Ralph might attend a press conference after a signing and say “ yes I’m sure he’s a good lad , but to be honest I’d never heard of the cunt …”
-
There appears such a lack of joined up thinking at the club that’s its easy to see a situation arising where the manager is a ‘board’ appointment, and at loggerheads with Rasmus’s DOF (Willcox) from day one. All of which bodes well.
-
Certainly no ‘Izzy wizzy, let’s get busy’ about the team effort that’s for sure. (Showing my age).
-
When I read that Ralph didn’t want him signed it underlined a lot that was wrong with the way the club was run. Dickhead analysts telling the manager who’d be signed to improve the team. And that was before Ankersen arrived.
-
Good idea, but I don’t have any confidence in those in charge to get the replacement right - at the third attempt.
-
Common denominator here is Mr Ankersen. He’s the one who has steered us into the freefall.

I think a chairman at Crystal Palace, Ron Noades, once took on the managers role. He was an egotistical bastard at the time. He later did the same at Brentford.
