  1. He left after twelve years in charge, hardly at the drop of a hat. And this was also after he had rejected possible moves to Leeds (1979 from memory) and Manchester Utd (c1980/81 before they appointed Atkinson). All in all, he gave pretty good service. The 'meltdown' on somewhere like this had it existed in the summer of 1979 would have been in overdrive facility.
  2. Sherwood's reputation from THFC will be enhanced. He's already linked with Norwich, WBA, Brighton.
  3. Someone suggested to me years ago (possibly during the Branfoot era) that the problem for Saints is that we either have a good manager and will struggle to keep them, or we have a manager no one else wants. Not far from the truth really.
  4. Mickey Hazard retired years ago. Although as spurs shamelessly passed off Forecast as a goalkeeper I would not put it past them to try and use him as a makeweight in negotiations to buy out Poch etc or any of our players.
  5. No doubt KL will consult Allen & Overy on any such action, depending on his contract. Now A&O (global law firm) v Jonathan Barrett , pretty clear who will have the 'heavyweights' on their side if needed.
  6. The sound of £££ and his agent - whose commission might be dependent on it - might be telling him different. Not sure he, the players or we know where the SFC road is leading, therein lies part of the problem.
  7. Probably something on the agenda if KL is arranging a "crisis" meeting as suggested. Obviously depends on his contract and how flexible it is. It may be that his "buy out" of £2m gives him the option of moving on. It's a shame more clubs don't adopt this stance. (Mainz have done this with Tuchel who is mentioned on another thread as a potential replacement).
  8. Do you really think he is remotely aware of what their fans may want, or what they are writing on their mongboards ? I doubt he was too concerned about supporter reaction on agreeing to the Saints job knowing (or perhaps he didn't) how popular Adkins was. I don't disagree with you about it being a daft career move for him, but there's always the £££, which will cushion any minor set back.
  9. f6ck off
  10. Dreadful isn't it ? I thought ITV were scraping the barrel trying to make 'personalities' out of Townsend and Keane, but now they bring Tim Sherwood into it....
  11. Not yet they haven't but what are the implications of this for the English managerial merry-go-round, us in particular ?
  12. I know what you're driving at but its unfair to lumber Forte in the same bracket as Pulis or Forecast. Whatever else Forte did contribute v MK Dons, a pivotal win in the run in.
  13. Definitely seen before on the kit thread. Also, I can't imagine Nike or any other big name supplier jumping to our aid in producing a one off with the possibility Adidas will be back next season.
  14. It's easy to bandy a figure of £6m about, but it is pure speculation, and if true there is no way of knowing how this is built up. I'd imagine it might be incentive based, top 8, top 6, Europa or CL qualification raising it. Heaven forbid there might even be a reward for trying to take cup competition seriously and reaching a final or winning it.
  15. Without entering into the debate about GS's posting history, he does make some interesting and valid points about "MoPo" on this page. I may not agree with them all, but don't see why they can't be discussed or responded to.
  16. Except that is not "The End" of the argument is it ? Key point for me is that MP appears to have the confidence of our key players, and if he leaves it causes uncertainty amongst the squad, and increases the likelihood of an exodus. This for me anyway is why MP is central to our potential now. You stop short of suggesting a viable alternative, who will immediately gain the trust of the squad, any suggestions ? I'm not ITK by any stretch, but think we can safely assume that despite the Germanic links of owner and RK, that Klopp is not likely to be interested in coming to us.
  17. ..or her cousin in equestrian gear
  18. This was a particular point in which she gained some sympathy and support from me. No pictures or anything for three years, until January, when the media came by one or two, that could be described as not particularly flattering. Anyone else wonder how they came by those, or how they might have suddenly known, where to look for them ?
  19. I'll go with this. Unfortunately when benefactors start putting (their own) money into a club they are regarded as heroes and - particularly in our case - saintly figures who can do no wrong. But there has to come a point where they put the brakes on, and at this stage the joe publics see them as the panto villain at first, often escalating into tirades etc. For all that KL has put into it, and her father before her, I hope we don't see it going that way here. I recall John Deacon saving the skates, but being vilified when he stopped allowing the club to haemorrhage cash, and even Jack Hayward was questioned over his intentions at Wolves despite building new stands etc. So does she have my support ? yes. Is there an alternative ? Because we've yet to see NC riding over the hill on a white charger with the cavalry protecting a train of - someone else's - money as some may have wanted.
  20. .. or knot ?
  21. How do you draw that conclusion ?
  22. Every bit as trustworthy and reputable as Daniel Levy. Well worth steering clear of if MP has an ounce of sense, but as we probably know it comes down to ££££
  23. AL has a few in his garage already after his awards evening.
  24. Well that's a pretty polarised view of it. Perhaps we need a poll.
  25. Best idea yet. Email 'tellralph@saints.co.uk' and put it to him.
