  1. When he arrived someone posted a comment from a Spanish friend with a knowledge of Premier League and La Liga saying he was the 'Spanish equivalent of Steve Bruce'. His style of football is better, and we still harbour high hopes that he will develop into an exceptional manager with us. Whether he can depends largely on the relationship with KL , and her vision, not to mention the crucial CEO appointment. As for the original question - I want MP to stay and live up to our hopes, but don't think he will . He stayed loyal to Espanyol when he could have left, and was later sacked. Lesson probably learnt. He will want to quit whilst he's at his 'highest stock' , and if this season goes down the pan he'll become more like 'El 'Arry ' and none of it will be his fault etc, due to background changes etc etc, perhaps he's perfecting the interview out of the Range Rover window technique as well. Big worry for me is whether KL and her new CEO are as successful in attracting the right man for the job if needed. Credit Cortese where it is due this is an area he excelled at.
  2. Poor result. No surprise to read Yoshida being blamed for a goal - he's another liability, his only saving grace is that he's considered marginally better than Hoiveld. No surprise we lost today though. Reminds me of the old cliché "well, we can now forget about the league, and concentrate on the c.... " , Curling ?
  3. MP stated in an interview this was not going to happen. Although this may have been 'not this window'.
  4. Poor bloke, had a toothache. But it always looks like a living enactment of a 'Biffa Bacon' sketch to me.
  5. No it would be a mix and match team playing in the group stages.
  6. But it used to be claimed that it killed 99% of household germs.
  7. Interesting read and story. Thanks for posting it. Keep up the research FF, and the sharing of it.
  8. Brolly
  9. Paul Allen c2007 ?
  10. Claire Balding showing her allegiance " ah, great side..."
  11. unless we also have footage from the press conference showing him saying that, then it is more of an opinion attributed to him by the Echo. Perhaps MP has realised he needs to regain a focus on the end of season and talking up there being something to play for.
  12. No, because that is all we're left to play for.
  13. Any idea, or clue, as to how far they are spreading the net on this ? UK , all of Europe ? Previous football experience ?
  14. This might fit in with MLG's theory on another thread as how one event impacts on another outcome further down the line,is it called the 'nutterfly effect ?'
  15. Fairs Cup 1969. A forerunner to the UEFA Cup.
  16. For the simplistic amongst us, me included, can you please confirm MLG, would we have been the same numbered ball in the draw today as Sunderland were ?
  17. Is this a David Icke theory ?
  18. Yes of course he will. And we'll all live happily ever after. (For those old enough to remember it).
  19. Thought it was something off a French restaurant menu
  20. Boruc ill ? FFS this is a new excuse suddenly dredged up. Presumably the Official Site will reveal all. Wonder what they'll come up with. Period pains ?
  21. But its not just team selection, or just motivation is it ? It's his entire demeanour and approach to it. Can't be bothered with the interviews or getting into the pre-match build up, although he is not alone here now of course. During most league matches he is in the technical area, on the touchline, fairly animated on occasion. At the Burnley game I even asked my son if MP was sat there (his eyesight being better than mine). Yesterday I read both he and assistant sit slumped in their seats. Presume he watched the match rather than bringing a book with him. What backlash ? Booing at the end ? water off duck's backs I should think. They're probably oblivious to it, unless they are scrutinising the anguish on the internet.
  22. Agree bad performance, and they should have had it in them to play better. Not a wonder goal from our angle, it was a p!ss poor defensive comedy of errors that gave him the chance, Yoshida's feeble pass, Hoiveld weak clearance, Wanyama's 'phantom' block on the bloke. Yes, Lambert should have equalised, but he has a fair bit 'in credit' to spare him the flak others get, Yoshida and Jos in particular are a liability. VW is coming back from injury so might be rusty but CM should have contained JC or MS.
  23. Could hardly say otherwise after the obvious joy it brought to Marcus Liebherr.
  24. Yes, I've made that point a couple of times but lost on the ' sky/x-factor generation ' as several have termed them.
  25. But what is "our size" ? Is it the size that we all believe it to be historically, perhaps with a moderate uplift thanks to the Liebherr input , or is it the club of Cortese dreamland ? Personally I think 6 - 10th in the Premiership is probably our realistic potential "weight", so Norwich ( one League Cup), Coventry (one FA Cup), Forest (no need to list them), Leicester ( a couple of League Cups I think). 27 top flight years - no trophies (excl the Daily Express 5-a-side) is not an impressive return, although a number of those years were of course tremendous achievements just staying where we were. Just simply does not register on the honours board. Things are different now - stadium no longer the limiting factor, resources etc.Need to add to the honours.
