Ditto. Queen &"One Vision" have nothing to do with Saints. Thankfully.
-
If its in The Sun then expect some sensational headline, and titillation. " Alan Pardew, and Nigel Adkins;my part in their downfall - a player's wife reveals all " perhaps ?
-
Will he still be in here in two years, never mind twenty ? If it falls apart, then NC will move on to his "next stage" to deliver Champions League football, if we show rapid strides then theres the prospect of MP being lured back to Spain (Mourinho's heir apparent at Real perhaps ?). Either way, its pointless speculation.
-
Perhaps that is their version of "..when the fat lady sings!"
-
Unless it's a press conference after something drastic has happened of course
-
Are we happy with CB options as being premiership standard ? FB - agree with you. Take your point regarding the subs bench and availability there.
-
Exciting player he might be, but defensive options would have been a grearter priority I'd have hoped.
-
The what ?

I thought Zarate, another Argie by the way, at Lazio was on the shopping list at one point. Although now playing in Italy.

Just done the same for Nicola Cortese: Secretion Cola Centric Loo Sea Sincere Loo Act (!) Loo site cancer http://www.easypeasy.com/anagrams/results.php

But its not the first time is it ? I remember similar thoughts on feeling we had lost our integrity when Dave Merrington was sacked, and the timing of it,and the way the club dressed it up. That was appalling. Also and before that, the way Alan Ball was 'allowed' to leave, almost eased out of the door. It reminds me of a comment made by a friend when Chris Nicholl was sacked - the first time Saints had sacked a manager - "I just hope now that we've let that genie out of the bottle [ sacking the manager] we don't become like every other club now, sacking managers every five minutes ".
-
As much as I believe Cortese deserves to see this go tits up,and be relegated, I can not wish that on the club and our supporters.
-
Two promotions in two seasons suggests otherwise. Presumably you regard Ted Bates as a below average manager then ? NA was a young manager, on a bit of an education in the top flight, but it appeared he was learning/improving and we had turned the corner. Reference my earlier comment : Moyes had less of a track record when he joined Everton than NA does now. Good job he did not join us in 2001, as Saints - under Lowe as with Cortese - would not have allowed him more than two seasons of being average, before kicking him out to find a new plaything.
-
On the topic of Po.. , the new bloke, I simply can't get excited over a manager I've not previously heard of, and one that we know can not communicate directly with his squad.
-
Still disappointed, sad, angry over the sacking of Nigel Adkins. Agreed, I always feared the Premiership would lead to a team of foreign mercenaries - clearly we are now lead by one. Everton are a good example of what can be achieved by stability and backing a good young manager, something lost on the short-arsed Italian twerp at the club's helm(et).
-
Same might be said for WGS here to be fair.
-
You simply have to wonder why they were underperforming.
-
During his ascendency with Ipswich George Burley was once lauded as a possible successor to Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
-
Good song. But does it not end with the line "Adkins is our king" ?
-
Just a thought today : Cortese knew that sacking Nigel would be unpopular amongst the fans and there is likely to be a backlash, possibly making it difficult for the new man. Would he take that risk with a "friend" ? Would come as no surprise to me if De Matteo arrives at the end of the season. Assuming of course he does not end up elsewhere in the meantime.

Solent Phone-in from 6pm-7pm - on Cortese/Adkins/Pochettino
Badger replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Presumably Benali is there to give an unbiased and balanced assessment of it all is he ? -
Every bit as "stonewall" a penalty as the 'trip' on Rodriguez at Villa.
