  1. Wrong. If the player refuses to accept our terms - as he wants to go elsewhere - then our bid is irrelevant, and his current club have to consider the bid from Napoli or whoever. They could of course tell him its Southampton at 10m or you're staying here, but given what we're reading about the financial situation at his current club that seems unlikely. Didn't we experience this a couple of windows ago with someone else ? Inclined to agree, but with the £90m at stake ?

    Artur Boruc

No, just one who can be regularly relied upon, and another competent one in reserve.
  3. No, looks like a Cheltenham Town programme to me.
  4. John McGrath made Luca Brasi look like a pussycat though. We need 'The Alehouse' .
  5. Sorry but Lampard can not be considered in the same league as KK - twice European Player of the Year- when we signed him , let alone Alan Ball. Lamplard would be a costly high profile signing, but as you say not going to happen, his most likely move will be joining Uncle 'Arry.
  6. Not necessarily. Cortese will take him to La Lupa's, converse in an Al Pacino sort of way with the waiters, and Astori simply won't know he's not in Italy (or dare not sign when he realises Luca Brasi is the doorman ).
  7. I also saw that, and wondered the same as you. But he previously been linked with higher clubs than us, could we be that imaginative ? Then theres the usual chestnut of a work permit.
  8. Quite a few people have referred to this , but if you read the Wikipedia article I posted above, it states that his current club bought the player outright after an initial part-share arrangement with AC Milan. It could be incorrect as it is only Wikipedia of course. Don't think this is likely though,as he has already supposedly turned down a bigger move.
  9. According to Wikipedia : Seems an unlikely one to me. unless of course he is now in dispute with his club and wants to leave. ( Same might have been said of Ramirez though at one stage).
  10. Here's a background bit of reading after a Google search: http://www.footballitaliano.co.uk/p6_70_5629_a-name-to-look-out-for-davide-astori.html
  11. Gerry Anderson certainly made a significant contribution to the entertainment and imagination of anyone growing upin the 1960's. Stingray and Thunderbirds are amongst my earliest memories from tv. The fact that my son was desperate for a "must have" Tracey Island in about 2001 emphasises the longevity of Gerry ( & Sylvia) Anderson's creations. RIP, & Thanks(from succesive generations).
  12. Gazzaniga - just too early for him. Perhaps his injury was at a 'convenient' time for the club in order to make the change and restore Kelvin.I think PG may make the grade but we saw Gazzaniga sat with the squad players v Sunderland, and am sorry to say the body language just said "sulk", to me and my son.Perhaps not the attitude NA requires. Boluc has thrived on a reputation earnt elsewhere a few years ago. After his water bottle tantrum, I suspect his time here will be short. KD, is not a Prem standard keeper. Some people do not think we need another GK in January. I can't see us surviving without one.
  13. Hope they go for Di Matteo , just to put an end to his name hanging over us.
  14. Totally agree, it is a big expectation for a 21 year old with only a handfull of L2 games in a new country to make the step up.
  15. I agree with your conclusion, although disagree about Gazzaniga, just too early for him. 16. I'm well aware of who we've brought in but unfortunately neither have completely solved the problem.I wonder how vshort term Boruc is likely to be, three games was it ? This leaves us with good old Kelv, who many believe is simply not the answer in the Premiership. He looked shaky in the early stages of the season, can we really pin our hopes on him for the rest of the season ? You may be right about Gazzaniga next season, but I suspect NA and NC will be more concrned about the next five months at the moment.
  17. I'd be surprised if we don't try bringing another in, and concerned if we don't.
  18. Just realised this must be a countdown game for Christmas. How many minutes, or posts will this last for ?
  19. I thought I'd post on here before it is locked.
  20. Living in Glos, I always look out for Cheltenham Town's results. Previously have a soft spot for Plymouth, and Exeter due to family connections.
  21. It could of course be a reworking of the Rhys Williams at 'boro story.
  22. Probably only linked on here to be honest.
  23. Could be a lot worse, and probably the nearest to the Keegan era we can hope for. Await a decent mock up of it on here.
  24. What would you think of it, if on an away match, some knob revealed a skates shirt ? Pretty pathetic to be honest.
  25. Do we need all four of them though ?
