  1. What are his strengths here ? Not disputing what you say, but I keep reading about him being an outstading prospect but no one has highlighted his strengths etc. With Bale it was his crossing, athletiscism that stood out, what is Shaw's great attributes that make him such a prospect. The 'gambles' are his inexperience , and how he handles it,and it does not destroy his confidence.
  2. Yes,I was telling my son about this the other night. Cup Replays really were exciting back then as they happened within a few days of the original fixture, so a frenzy often built up quickly. Great atmosphere that night, Channon scored within a minute, and Gilchrist scored a goal MLT would have been proud of. Yes,it was. Also remember Friday night 2-0 v Liverpool , Wallace's overhead kick on BBC. (bit surprised I remember it all as it was a great p!ss up as well). From younger days (c1971) 2-0 v Man City at home with 2 goals from 'Big Ron' sticks in my mind also,we needed points to secure safety (although a few more games to go) and they were chasing the title (Bell, Lee,Summerbee etc).
  3. Don't forget Guly starting every match. And Papa Waigo to come off the bench.
  4. Not as much of a fu.ck up as it would be to relieve NA of duties, and leave Wilkins in temporary charge for three weeks.
  5. Good to see Acker Bilk in there. Showaddywaddy as well. Definitely what the officianado's might call an eclectic mix.
  6. I thought that in December 2004.
  7. Wonder how long it will take Miltoroader to start an NA to Skates thread.
  8. Trouble is though, who is he answerable to for his decisions ?
  9. When there was a possibility of them meeting in the FA Cup a couple of years ago, I read that AFC Wimbledon might refuse to go the fixture. However they lost their cup replay and never had to make that decision. At the time AFC W were not in the league, so I wonder if they will be expected to show a more 'mature and responsible' side to it this time ? Again though, depending on replays.
  10. My best hopes now are that we are still in the fight come January, and not points adrift, but something has to change.
  11. Most people won't have a clue who Ollie Lancashire is -probably think he's a contestant on the X-Factor - so don't give a sh!t about his opinion.
  12. I certainly expected our team that had come up would have a lot more 'grit' and aggression in their game than they have shown.
  13. Is he Cheese On Toast in disguise ?
  14. Not a prem player. Not a Championship player for much of last season.

    Liam Trotter

    Hardly a priority.
  16. Lets hope that fires them up, pride and motivation, and all that. Its not as if we have a team of foreign mercenaries only here to pick up their pay packets is it ?
  17. As a positive out of that, its good that they both 'dropped' two points. But slightly concerned that QPR have still to win.Although its good for us in one way, and long may that continue, 'sod's law' dictates where that first win might just come from : We all know how obliging Saints are in allowing teams to overcome such statistics.
  18. I wonder how many others on here share your disinterest over Saints league position ?
  19. John Redknapp

    Wayne Bridge

I suspect we were 'busy' trying to secure other potential left back targets, Buttner for one, whilst Bridge was in talks at Brighton. Agree
  21. No Isaac Watts ? As deserving as Jane Austen surely ?
  22. Seem to remember similar boll0cks written about Prutton, and before him, Benali. Wonder if Prutton is out of contract and available ? In the absence of real skill we need someone to just run around a lot. And clap the fans. And get a ten match ban when facing a crucial relegation run-in.
  23. Jos - caught out is becoming a regular feature It does appear some had the chance to prove something and did not, and as per Dickson last season, I suspect several are now unlikely to be given the chance again.
  24. If so I'd give him a wide berth. Problem here as I don't think he , or many of the other names touted would stick around if we went down, leaving us back on the rebuild route again.
  25. For anyone in doubt, this really is the reincarnation of Fred Gee.
