They also signed Lyanco before getting rid. Not sure their judgement can be relied on.
-
Just hope they(and a few others) find it a damn sight harder than we do.
-
Wonder if Feyenoord will consider mandatory- subject to number of appearances/injuries etc . Doubt it somehow.
-
Wonder if Clarke was an option if we’d been able to move on Sulemana. Shame that hasn’t been possible. Of their signings, I’d have liked us to sign Greaves, but with THB signing that wasn’t going to happen. Be interesting to compare their progress and see which if either make the step up to the full England squad. Going on some earlier reports it seems Delap was ahead of Archer in our target list for a striker.
-
The idea of success for them has changed though. Last couple of seasons success has been finishing top two, possibly third. Now they just have to finish above three others

Wonder if he’ll want to come back at the end of the season if he plays regularly there. Just hope it isn’t a Tella situation of clubs also changing places.

Should read .... Bijlow, for me is the better fit. Ball playing keeper and often injured . Thinks he ticks two of our critical boxes.
-
If that was at West Ham then I thought their GK pushed it onto the bar.
-
With news of the link to the Feryenoord GK I'm half expecting The Sun to run with a headline of 'Russell Martin seeks a Bijlow Job' , labelled 'exclusive' , and reference to his relationship status etc.

You might want to be careful about some of your friends

Not as good as the Luton GK last weekend though. Bloke has a long way to go.
-
Concerning…. But that’s possibly why he’s available to us and affordable (remains to be seen).
-
So continuing the policy of one out, one in, she is probably a replacement for Mara’s mum. Possibly an upgrade in view of age. Well done Saints, get the deal done.
-
Possibly, but aren’t we already well stocked on the left hand side for FB, or WB ? I’d have been content with Targett when his name was first mooted on here, but as things stand it’s not a position to prioritise with limited money and time. (Seem to remember Targett was a good crosser of the ball. Not that we’d make use of that skill of course).

Interesting, thanks. But from what I’ve read I thought Fernandes provided a bit more attacking threat. Would certainly welcome another Schneiderlin though.
-
None of which would make him the signing that we currently need though.
-
Could be a good move for him. They looked like they play a similar sort of game to us playing it out from the back from what we saw at the friendly.
-
But he was young, and guaranteed to improve. Will it make us more cautious in these transfers ? Doubt it.
-
Christ on a bike, what does this mean? Sorry, I’m an old fart. I understand the distinction between a “6” (for me a defensive midfielder) and “10” (perhaps the attacking mf), but isn’t it splitting hairs between an 8 and 10 ? For me though the 6 should be a central defender ( a Gabriel or Steele) although that’s negotiable. The 8 though is, and always will be, Channon running at defences.
-
It would have to be surgically removed, and probably isn't worth the risk so all in all selling him is the best move for all.
-
The few I spoke to before and after the game were quite reasonable.
-
Could be right, but need to improve in both penalty areas. Not sure if it's meant to be the 'silver lining in a cloud', or a sort of condescending pat on the head after defeat, but no matter how it is dressed up, the optimism drains out when you think playing like that means gifting a goal, and then trying to walk the ball into the net every time.
-
Would have thought so. Is there any advantage to us in not signing him from Sheffield Utd ? I can’t think of one, unless signing him on leaving Sheffield would be in an earlier financial year (before June 30th). Also, it seems as if he had to go back to Villa after Sheff Utd’s relegation
-
Something similar to Trade Descriptions Act, and mis-selling perhaps ?
-
Obviously written before yesterday’s match. Agree yesterday was probably too early, and TP might have offered more. Don’t agree about time to acclimatise to the way we play. His two most obvious contributions from watching high up at St James Park appeared to be passing the ball behind our player, and wildly shanking one over the bar from the edge of the area. That’s not due to acclimatising to how we play.
